EXCELLENT - BEST TYPE OF THIS MUG I HAVE YET FOUND
It has one of the few OPEN/CLOSED buttons which generally works (although it can be hard to tell which position the button is in). When the top is closed, the very deep lid not only prevents spilling (except for the few drops sitting on top) but keeps the heat in a very, very long time. Even open, the heat retention is amazing. The handle, top and mug are all well made and have survived many drops without issue (the top seems particularly resistent to scuffing, a common problem on past dropped mugs). I liked my first one so much, I bought one with a handle, then a second one and often fill both on road trips with the second mug still too hot to drink after I finish the first. After I raved about it, my wife tried it and was so impressed she got one herself (and complains that it keeps her tea too hot for too long). My only real complaint is that the two drinking openings can be a challenge to properly align with your mouth (it is NOT a 360 opening as the saleswoman told me initially - there are two slots opposite each other for drinking + ventilation). If you get the one without the handle, you need to be incredibly careful where you drink - and/or mark the drinking slots in some manner (I used a white paint marker for SCUBA equipment to make marks on the top of the lid, then switched to the handle ones which I much prefer). If you use the one with the handle, while the openings are generally above and below the handle, the lids do not all tighten to the same spot so you still need to be aware of where the openings are. Betweem us. my wife and I have four of these and the drinking holes are in slighly different positions on each mug. Care must be taken not to drink from the wrong spot and dribble on yourself :-) WARNING TO THOSE WHO PAY PEOPLE TO FILL THEIR MUGS: Coffe/tea shops are generally not used to mugs with lids that go down so deep in the mug and most over-fill it. If you fail to warn them, you will have to toss out an inch+ of liquid to get your top on.

Functionally PERFECT Leak-Proof travel mug
This mug is BEYOND compare. While I use this for traveling at times, the main purpose is for the office, where due to being clumsy, I've had to replace 4 (yes, four) Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboards due to spilling coffee on them. So I needed a 100% LEAKPROOF mug. This thing lives up to the hype! Certainly spill proof and it looks extremely classy. However, that was expected, as you are paying a pretty penny for this. Here was the surprise: This mug keeps liquid HOT for easily up to EIGHT HOURS! I'll bring coffee to work in the morning, drink some, perhaps get busy with work, meetings etc., only to find that come 3PM, the coffee is still hot! Absolutely amazing! This mug is worth every penny. I HIGHLY recommend and would happily purchase again. Finally, on the same Amazon order/invoice, I ordered three mugs (wanted to try different, highly-rated mugs): 1) This one 2) the version w/o a handle (same company) 3) the 16 oz Contigo AUTOSEAL This mug and the handle version are functionally similar and perform beautifully. After being spoiled with the heat retention of this Thermos mug, the wife accidentally gave me the Contigo mug one morning. No problem, I thought. Heck, I had spent basically 20 bucks on each mug and was happy to try the Contigo. The Contigo is a JOKE with respect to heat retention, which is what motivates me now to go ahead and review all three. The Contigo mugs have KNOWN cleaning issues (for the lid), have leak issues over time, and, MOST important, simply don't keep liquid warm. Don't even consider them. This mug is ROCK STAR. You will love it!

The Best Travel Cup So Far
I have a long commute to work and have been using insulated travel cups daily for years. It seems like I've owned dozens and they all came up short in some way: they leaked, they didn't keep coffee hot long enough, they were too small, they didn't fit my cup holder, I couldn't find the drink hole while driving and spilled coffee on myself, etc. Last year for my birthday I got a Thermos Nissan insulated loose tea infusion travel cup. It had a cap with a built in screen for brewing tea and it kept everything hot for hours. I was so impressed with how long it kept beverages hot that I used it for everything. Its only shortcoming was that it was a little small for me, holding about 10 ounces. Since my Thermos Nissan cup kept beverages really hot for hours, I decided to look for a larger Thermos travel cup and came across this one and bought it. This one does everything perfectly. It holds about 16 ounces and keeps coffee and tea really hot for hours. When using it for hot tea, I even have to add a little cold water to make it cool enough to drink out of for the first hour or so. I have the model with the handle, which is very ergonomic and fits in my cup holders perfectly. When the lid is screwed on the two drinking slots line up exactly 90 degrees from the handle at the top and bottom, so both left and right-handers can sip without spilling. It absolutely does not leak when the closed button is clicked on. You can turn it upside down and shake it and not a drop comes out. Thoughtfully, when the open/close button is pressed in the middle of the lid, a red band appears at the base of the button to let you know it is closed. The red band disappears when the lid is clicked open. As an added bonus, I think it looks nice. It looks like Thermos got this one perfectly. It's a little expensive but certainly worth it to me. Today I cleaned out my kitchen cabinet and threw out the Trudeaus and all the other non-Thermos travel cups.

Of my many flasks, this is still the best one for heat retention. Can easily last 8 hrs for keeping warm. Happy I found it again after I lost one a few years back. Looks good in a meeting too.

Love my new thermos mug. Keeps it hot while I run around doing school and daycare drop off. Please it’s so easy to use and clean. Just pull it apart and put it in the dishwasher!!!

The thermos sip stainless mug, is a well made quality item, it feels like it will last a long time, although I would say that the handle could snap off if you weren't careful with it. The mug keeps hot drinks hotter much longer than the stated 5 hours, I've noticed my drinks staying hot for up to 7 hours! I love my thermos mug, and I would happily buy another one, I can't find any fault with the thermos sip mug, and I feel that it was a great purchase.

Not happy, the button that closes the holes at the top broke the first day. The enamel has started to come off. I still use it because I spent so much on it but ...
