Perhaps the most important book of the time?
This book is excellent and I cannot recommend it enough. After having read it once, I intend to read it again and keep it for reference. I bought it several months ago on the advice of my doctor and only had the time to read it last month while on vacation. I say this because for me in any case, I had to have some downtime wherein it was actually possible to absorb the information. Firstenburg does a really excellent job of writing engagingly about what is essentially a complex problem that has evolved in a convoluted fashion over the last 150 years. At the end of his very carefully researched book I was just marveling at this newfound knowledge revealed to me. Who could have known the damage that is caused by harnessing electricity?! Or that our bodily functions happen thanks to electricity? Or that there is a constant electric exchange between the earth and the skies?! I, for one, had no idea, and this book really opened my mind - including to the damaging effects of electro-magnetic pollution on our bodies. Incredibly I was able to join the dots in terms of my own life and connect health crises I’ve suffered in the last two decades to times in history that I was exposed to higher levels of electro-magnetic radiation. I had a burnout in my mid-20s while working 100 metres from a 60 metre high radio pylon, for example. Had never made the connection before now. Also developed chronic inflammation in the body around 2011-2012 which corresponded with the widespread rollout of WiFi. Coincidence? Then, was able to trace the rollout of electricity to the remote village my father was born in to the early 50s, which was the same time a member of the family got sick with a sort of epilepsy, another got sick with MS, and another member took his own life. Was there a connection or was it a coincidence? I will never know but the information in this book has really caught my attention. The one downside is that Firstenburg is really focused on the problem and offers no solutions whatsoever. At he end of the book he describes how the various multinationals will be sending thousands of satellites into space in preparation for the rollout of 5G from 2020 to 2023 and he says simply that “this must not happen”. Well, I write in October 2020 when it is most definitely happening and we ordinary punters can’t do a thing to stop it!! While the author doesn’t mention it as a solution, I started “earthing” after I read this book. I have found that has helped my chronic health conditions subside, and I am sleeping much better. I don’t know if it will still help once 5G is fully rolled out but I am hoping it’s a step in the right direction. Short of getting these satellites down from the skies, what else can we do?!

Good book thank you

A page turner
One of the best books I have ever read this year and particularly on the subject of harmful radiations and their history. How humans as well as all other species and our beautiful planet become ill (if not die) from electromagnetic pollution. The book is full of interesting references. I resisted buying this book for quite some time but it was a big mistake. Fabulously enjoyable.

this book is the key to understanding the nature of modern illness and disease
I couldn't recommend this book enough. If you care about your health and those around you, you need to read this book, learn the reasons and cause's for most modern illnesses. The cause of modern Pandemics and how each modern pandemic is preceded by the introduction of some new electro-magnetic/radio frequecy technology. The dangers of mobile phone and wifi technology is going to become a problem that none of us are going to be able to escape from in the future. A very well researched book with a bibliography and notes that takes up 150 pages, the information presented is indesputible. After reading this book I have adjusted my behaviour around mobile technology, I don't carry my phone as much, keep it away from my head when I do, or use wired headphones, shut off the wifi at home, I have hard wired the home for internet, and I limit our kids time with this very dangerous technology. An amazing book full of information that has been methodically researched.

Important book, but a touch over-zealous
I have a PhD in Astrophysics from UCL in London and I've practised yoga and Zen meditation for many years. During that time I've become very interested in the connection between the chi/qi/prana of Indian and Chinese arts and what's called energy in physics. For that reason I've been curious about the potential effects of background EM radiation on the flow of chi and people's ability to feel chi in the body. So I was very interested to read this book. Overall, it's well written, engaging – and not a little bit terrifying. It's obviously extremely well researched and referenced (half the book is taken up with all the references!). The physics checks out as far as I'm concerned (although I'm not an expert in radio communications or cell phone towers). I don't suffer from any obvious signs of EM-sensitivity, and none of my friends do, but if there are some genuine, albeit subtle, negative effects on human and animal health from RF radiation, then it's important the world wakes up to it. Might what he's talking about be similar to the Teflon scandal (see the recent film Dark Waters)? But what gives me just a hint of caution is Firstenberg's over-willingness to attribute the problems he sees purely to the effects of EM radiation. When he says things like "thus the only possible conclusion is that RF radiation is the cause" it makes me worried... The rapid spread in RF emission across the world has come together with all sorts of other changes - in exercise levels, in other environmental pollutants, in work stress, to name a few. I think he's too quick to dismiss them. To me, the book would have been more convincing if he'd evaluated other possible causes of the effects he was seeing with a little more consideration. I want to believe what he's saying, but when you're speaking out against an overwhelming opposition, your arguments have got to be impeccable.

Pass this book around for people to read
There are already a lot of good reviews describing The Invisible Rainbow and its contents. The book wholeheartedly feels like one written with a huge amount of work and care - for the purpose of communicating a deeply-felt, experienced and researched subject. When people (and the rest of the World's inhabitants) are being subjected to massively higher and increasing levels of electromagnetic fields/radiation than we evolved with, it is important for people to consider and read around this subject themselves - and to form their own judgements. A lot of good research suggests that there are very big costs in terms of health (to everyone - and not just the growing percentage who are, or have become, electrosensitive). It is interesting to compare some of the emerging symptoms being associated with the current pandemic with those of non-ionising radiation poisoning, as described in this book. It is not necessarily as ridiculous as many so aggressively "shout" that our immune and other systems are being compromised by more than just the virus. The argument that we should "wait for irrefutable proof of harm" before slowing down our microwaving of the planet seems unbelievable. (There feels a similarity there to the long-fought argument against human-induced global warming!) Remembering that we cannot, for example, put thousands of people in lab-controlled studies for several years, where different groups live identical lives except for their exposure to non-ionising radiation, we have to look at a collective of evidence from different studies. There is plenty to find if you look around that gives considerable cause for concern. This book makes for very interesting and worrying reading - and is a great book to lend others.

An absolute must to read
I so wish I would have bought it much earlier, to be honest I read the summary of this book which was freely available but the evil is in the details, again. Explains so much about the illnesses we have, a hidden knowledge which should be made to common knowledge for protecting us and our loved ones. Very well researched book.

A really interesting book - worth reading
This book is a mine of information compiled from a thorough review of available information that most of us would never come across. For example most members of the public won't seek out information about how electricity was used by medical people in the last few centuries. Nor compare health records before electric power was introduced versus after the various stages of electrical power generation and distribution. Similarly for before and after the rolling out of various radio frequency transmissions. The author has made a very thorough job of mining information, which he does in a very readable fashion. He has medical qualifications but I don't think that he understands electromagnetism in any depth. Despite this fact he has done such a good job of assembling empirical data and scientific papers that his deductions are still sound. In any case the reader can ponder upon the data and decide whether or not to agree with some of the conclusions. One fascinating part for me was the description of how the ear works and the fact that its size does not vary greatly from mouse to human to whale. It's worth getting the book just to read about the description of the ear. As an aside I remember speaking to somebody that had walked through a very strong static magnetic field and had a headache after. Such a field is never experienced in normal life but basic electromagnetism would show that he would have generated a significant voltage across his head. I read, probably an engineering publication, that some unfortunate did some maintenance work on a radar dish whilst unaware that the radar was in operation. He felt warm whilst working on it and as far as I recall died hours later after completing the job. So you can be fatally injured without feeling any really obvious discomfort from electromagnetic radiation. In nature when you get killed from heat radiation (which is electromagnetic) the torment must be terrible. Our eyes close to avoid blindingly bright light. Nature has endowed us with warnings against natural dangers from very high frequency electromagnetic radiation like heat and light. But we don't have any natural warning mechanisms warning us against for example X-rays or radio frequency waves: because formerly these have been at such low levels that there was no evolutionary pressure to evolve such sensing. This book gives us reason to doubt whether the safety guidelines given out by "responsible bodies" are in fact adequate. It would appear that enough data and empirical evidence has been amassed to justify a thorough investigation of multiple aspects of exposure to man made electromagnetic fields. Highly recommended.
