Rated it 4 stars, because my wife says I'm hard to please
I give it 4 stars because like they say in the military, there is always room for improvement. That being said a 4.8 would probably be more accurate! This flashlight it the best flashlight I've owned and I work nights as military police. This thing is very durable I unfortunately drop it a lot, at least once a night if not 2-3 times and nothing has happened. Once the battery starts to die you loose your functions like hi and strobe. It will stay on low for a while. It out shined my buddies "5000 lumen" head lamp he bought off on here for $20. The gaskets they have on the inside for water proofing it are pretty standard and work well! Very good quality! I will be buying at least one more if not a third on for my wifes car! It definitely is way better then the $10 knock off version that say 1000 lumens and have the zoom feature. That something else this flashlight doesn't have is the zoom feature, which I am okay with. I do wish it had the S.O.S strobe, thank goodness I know it from the military lol, still would love to have that feature, especially for my wife. Last thing is the batteries can goes pretty quick depending on use. I work night so I use it a good bit, and with that much power that this has I have had a set of batteries last 1 week and another set last about a month and a half. This is normal and expected because it's so powerful! Again I love it and I will be buying several more when I receive my yearly uniform allowance! Along with a new pistol! Definitely worth the money guys! Enjoy!

Pretty good but
Pretty good but....tail cap rubber switch cover is springy....quite a lot of pushing an air cushion before the switch engages. Light output using two CR123A batteries is so far good......I can't measure lumens! Just like VW can't measure NOx. It is more of a distorted spot bleeding into a flood pattern but quite useful. The LOW setting could be a little brighter for some but I feel that run time with adequate light was the design parameter here? My Streamlight Survivor produces a more distance penetrating beam, spot variety, but does not have the total lumen output of this light. However, this Helotex light takes up much less space than the Streamlight. Drawback would be the power source if the you know what hits the fan....AA cells still dominate the supermarket shelves, not CR123 or 18560 rechargeable batteries. To be safe, get the Streamlight and this flashlight! Keep a stash of batteries for both and you should be good. This is a good product and I also have a G2 Helotex with almost 1 years use in a workshop...it runs on a CR123 or a AA cell. Great little pocket flashlight. So, to recap, one star removed for the springy tail cap! Buy one and decide. It's a good product. Would I buy another...yes!

Best Light I have found for civilian self defense
I bought a few of these as gifts for friends and ended up buying one for myself as well. I personally think its the best light on the market; for my needs anyway. I'm sure it has all been covered in previous reviews, but here are my reasons why this light is worth it:Cost- Its half the price of similar lights of similar construction, yet with more lumensWeight- it has a lightweight feel, yet sturdy and constructed well- easy to throw in pocketWaterproof- It has a single o-ring on the rear and a double up front for the led housing.Switch Button- it takes a second to get used to, but I like how the rear button switch is actually recessed within the housing; keeps the switch from being accidentally turned on and battery running down without being awareDefault is 1000 lumens- this is actually the best feature IMO. I dont need a strobe, varying colors, reduced lumens... I need a powerful, blinding shot of light at a moments notice to buy me a few seconds. If not... I would go get a mini mag light at home depot? Every time I power this light on, it defaults to the brightest setting. I'm not wanting to mount it on my AR, I'm not wanting a pressure switch, I'm not reviewing a dope sheet in the middle of the night and requiring low visibility...What I am doing is being a typical civilian, unable or not wanting to 'carry' everywhere I go. This light is perfect and if used properly, all you really need to make it home or to your vehicle safely. Love this product. The additional features of reduced lumens and strobe are great, but they require a very sensitive touch. Again... for my needs, I just don't foresee me having the 'touchscreen' sensitivity in a moments notice and startled. Still worth every penny knowing I will never use the additional options.Order with confidence.

This is a great $27-$32 light that costs $49...
It's just OK - but only because of the build. Brightness is very good and beam spreads well for woods walking and seeing out to the limits of your vision in open ground. I like the switch function and default high mode. Small as a carry and easily packable. Easy to hold and likely to be grabbed for use more than a bigger light.Switch and screw cap threads feel somewhat cheap as compared to a Streamlight Protac HL-3. The LED is not even centered within the reflector cavity as is in the Raybek, Streamlight and Thrunite. Small as a carry and easily packable. Tested 2 rcr123a's and got only 25 minutes run time on high. Only use an 18650 in this one... (50,000 hours for the LED - say, 1 hour a day useage, 365 days a year = 137 years of run-time. I doubt whether the body or electronics will hold up that long...)This is a great $27-$32 light that costs $49...
