5000 Years of Tiles Paperback – October 22, 2013

I am so glad I purchased this book. I didn't find my tile I was trying to identify but the rest of the tiles in here are worth the read. There is so much information spanning so many area's and era's. Fantastic book.

Great summary of historic tile from around the world. Nice colorful images.

a good overall introduction to tile history, from neolithic times to present day, written for the general reader.

Good illustrations and a nice summary of tiles through the years.

Very complete book about the history of the ceramic tiles. Nice pictures. I recomend.

Gorgeous book!

great book

The book arrived rather late last night - after 10 pm - to a very noisy dog obviously guarding me. I was a bit annoyed, but thought I'd have a quick look. I finally got to bed at 12:30! The British Museum has done a fantastic job of the design and printing, and the test is interesting and absorbing. Some of the tiles,, from early Chinese, Muslim etc up to modern day, made me want to immediately get out my pencils and start designing my next needlepoint. Well worth the original extravagance.

This is a beautiful and detailed book with lots of images .

Bought as a gift and the recipient was very pleased with it.

I bought this (which was originally £25) for inspiration for the tiles I wanted to make. It is a treasure trove of beautiful tiles and interesting commentary. It is also produced by the British Museum so lots of home grown examples and none of the Americanisms that treat the word "tile" as a plural!
