I recently watched Dark Waters (2019), and while I found it incredibly eye-opening and important, I can see why some might find it slow or even "boring" in a traditional entertainment sense. This isn't a high-energy legal thriller filled with dramatic courtroom moments—it's a deliberately paced, methodical film that mirrors the frustrating reality of taking on corporate giants.Mark Ruffalo delivers a subdued but powerful performance as Robert Bilott, a lawyer who sacrifices years of his life to expose DuPont’s reckless pollution. The film doesn’t rely on flashy storytelling; instead, it immerses you in the exhausting, painstaking process of uncovering the truth—one that, unfortunately, mirrors real life.While Dark Waters might not be the most thrilling film for casual audiences, it carries an urgency that cannot be ignored. The reality it reveals is horrifying, and the fact that this story is still relevant today makes it all the more chilling. This is a movie that makes you think, makes you angry, and most importantly, makes you aware.If you’re looking for pure entertainment, this might not be the film for you. But if you care about the truth, about justice, and about the impact corporations have on our environment, Dark Waters is a must-watch.Would I call it entertaining? Not really. But would I call it necessary? Absolutely.

Very interesting story about something a lot of people are not aware of or don’t recall. The fact that this is a true story makes it even more interesting. Strong cast, interesting story, worth watching.

Great movie to get great storyline I recommended to get a different perspective on things

This is a documentary. The movie stays very close to the actual story and even has real people from the story acting. Eye opening story- glad to now know what I know from this movie.

I love Mark Ruffalo. I didn’t even know who he was as an actor but as an activist, someone told me to watch this and I did. It became one of those movies that changed my life and I think about all the time, tell all my friends, etc. I learned how bad DuPont and 3M are - how they KNEW for many many years and still don’t do the right thing unless Rob BILOTT holds their feet to the fire by kicking their ASS in court. The WHOLE WORLD should be sending Rob Billott $5/day to make him rich and pay him to send these despicable humans to jail for poisoning our earth. I give this movie 5 stars and I am SO grateful that Mark Ruffalo made it happen and brought this story to light. Way more people need to see this and need to know what C8 forever chemicals are. Our water must be tested for PFOA and PFAS and related forever chemicals! We must all know how to buy a water filter that will take these dangerous chemicals OUT of our water supply - NOW.

This was a great movie exposing the coverup by the chemical industry concerning the production of C8 (the main chemical used in teflon and many other products for decades) and the catastrophic consequences of a coverup..think along the lines of a similar movie from years back titled Erin Brokovich. Ruffalo plays an attorney tasked with fighting against a big chemical corporation who being well aware of what happened in Parkersburg, VA and elsewhere, continued to put profit over public health and safety. Though I do not agree with Ruffalo’s personal political stance on many issues; acting wise he played the role of the attorney well and further brought to mainstream through this movie, the danger of PFAS, PFOA’s and others and demonstrated the lengths these corporations will go to in order to protect profits while maiming the consumer.I will say that if you can, definitely pick up the Blu-Ray. While the DVD version is good enough, after watching this film multiple times, just due to how dark certain scenes are, I regret not picking it up in HD. The DVD version resolution is just too soft (sharpness not there) in my opinion and is grainy on certain scenes.But as for the movie itself; Five stars. Well done.One more thing; Make sure you also check out ‘The Devil We Know’ which is a well done documentary about the same topic.

My grandmother is from WV and remembers when this happened. It is a chilling story that will stay with you. The actors did an outstanding job of portraying the events that unfolded in this poor town.
