These statements are true. If you don't believe it, do your own research with an open mind and convince yourself. Anyone who listens to their doctor WITHOUT INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION of the facts is taking a real risk with their health. Now, putting my diatribe aside, about the book ... I learned a huge amount from the book. It is very comprehensive as to all the various assaults on the brain and why various foods and environmental influences are bad for the brain. It will make you understand why the modern industrialized food and medicine industry will debilitate you. There are no cliches or platitudes here. The scientific and medical evidence is clearly laid out in an easy to read and understandable manner. The book gives you real hope too. The therapy plan is soundly based on the understanding of the causes of the condition. Main treatment modality is coconut oil, along with a low carb diet and high antioxidant intake. There is real scientific reasons why coconut oil is the primary treatment modality, but you should read the book yourself to understand why. It's all well laid out. The book answered a lot of questions I had about various health matters, as there is a lot of conflicting information out there. B/c of the clear explanations as to the WHY for each of his recommendations, I felt confidence in making certain decisions in implementing various therapeutic strategies for various family members that I was hesitating on before. Phenomenal! Fantastic! Take control of your health now!
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Serious about your brain? Vital information!
I am 67 years old and just now discovering that there is much nutritional hype and misinformation about nutrition that is supported by the internet, media, and sadly, our health provisional system. Admittedly, I have not completed this book but what I have learned so far is fascinating. For instance, did you know that cholesterol is actually good for your brain (and every cell in your body); necessary for good brain health? That cholesterol lowering "statins" can actually be a factor in onset of Alzheimer disease? That saturated fats such as coconut oil and red palm oil are not only good for your brain but also good for your cardiovascular system and provide a whole host of nutrients that are vital to good health, particularly for the aging like me? With the present decline in health insurance provision due to sky-rocketing costs I am learning that I have to take responsibility for my health. The author has a gift for explaining the science of nutrition, particularly the role and importance of saturated fats in our diets, in a way that is not only understandable by lay people such as myself but enjoyable to read. The content is supported and documented by research that supports every concept. If in doubt, check his footnotes. This book is not just for the aging. I wish I had this information when I was in my 30's. I plan to add comments in the future when I have completed this book and three other of Fife's books which I now have in my possession. For now I have added both coconut oil and red palm oil (virgin for both) to my diet. I have consumed more saturated fat in the last 30 days, have more energy, and beginning to loose weight. Who would have thunk it?

need more time, but so far so good
I would need more time on the recommendations before I could give it 5 stars, but so far so good. On these recommendations I already have some of my lost energy back and I seem already to be just a bit more clear and sharp. I had been trying to use diet only to keep my test values as low as my physician wants, so that I stop being constantly harassed to begin using several drugs that I've always refused. I feel good that I've refused because now class action lawsuits are ongoing for each of them for the serious side effects they cause. But trying to keep all these values as low as my physican wants, I have progressively lost energy, lost muscle tone, lost clarity and memory. While I don't think it's realistic to expect these recommendations to have all those values please this physician after only 2 months before the next round of tests is scheduled, thanks to this book I'm now I'm armed with good research to feel confident that, no matter what those values turn out to be, I'm on the right track. I may have to find a new physician. The book does already get 5 stars from me for its organization, ease of finding information, well-documented information, and clear presentation.

Very informative.
This is a great book, that explains the many ways we "contribute to our own medical issues, through food and big Pharma, and how in the early stages, and with the right diet, dementia can be changed. Very much worth the read.

This book reveals a big secret!
In 1997 Mark H. Beers MD and an expert panel of doctors identified over 90+ medications that are deemed inappropriate to use on patients over 65, regardless of the patients level of health. The risk associated with these drugs greatly outweigh any benefits. & statins/cholesterol are the biggest theif of memory! Other books are written about it. I was able to identify 3 medications that my 74 yr old Mom was taking that was causing her to lose her memory. This book also teaches that Neurons are the longest living cells in the body. So losing your memory is not a normal consequences of aging. & that even if you damage the brain it has an incredible ability to rewire itself. & MCT oil from coconuts is a big brain healer! This book was recommended to me by the famous healer Barbara O'Neil. & I'm only half way into the book! Dementia & Alzheimers is an epidemic! That shouldn't be happening. Plz help your elders. 🙏🏾💌

The Death of a Great Book
I only bought my copy of Dr. Fife's book a few months ago, but I don't know how the poor thing is going to survive me. I've been devouring it. I've made notes everywhere, gone back and forth from page to page, highlighted probably far too much, dug into the sand to read it at the beach while my family played (yeah - I got up and spent time with them too :o) and even gone to sleep with it still clutched in my hot little hands. Normally, I don't go so berserk over a book, and I hadn't anticipated I would with this one either. I expected that it would mainly be another way of saying that Coconut Oil is great for you since Dr. Fife has given such outstanding info about this in other books. I was wrong. This book covers a host of causes and cures that have been extremely well researched. The case studies and stories he shares are fascinating. Not only have I been learning what our family can do to help my father, but we've also been learning how to protect our own health - from getting AD ourselves - yes, but also many other unhealthy things based on myth that can effect overall health. I cannot recommend this gold mine of a book enough! Just get it!

Stop Alzheimers Now
I found the first eleven chapters had some interesting and useful information, and I had already read much of it in other books. After Chapter Eleven, I found the information surprising to say the least. I admit that I have been vegan for two years. I am a 66 woman, feel 18, and look a healthy and slender 40-45 with totally perfect health and no meds. But I always want to keep an open mind about new nutritional information, even if it contradicts what I currently believe. What I do know is that on our vegan diet my new husband lost 70 lbs. after our marriage--without ever being hungry, lost his hand tremors, and was able to get off his blood pressure medication. Though he is also 66, I can tell you that any twenty-year old man would envy his abilities. :.) My own cholesterol dropped fifty points. Now to hear that the author tells us to eat all the meat we want, fat included, flies in the face of what I believe. Is it not true that toxins are heaviest at the top of the food chain and that these toxins concentrate in the fatty tissues of the animal? Why would I want to eat that? We did buy some red palm oil and will use it sparingly for stir fry. We have always used coconut oil sparingly for the same. But I can't believe we are supposed to intentionally ingest six tablespoons of coconut oil every day. I would really need to be convinced more than this author has been able to do. The idea of limiting carbs to get into ketosis and feel sick, get acetone breath, and acidify my blood doesn't agree with what I have learned from reading so many other books on nutrition. Doesn't Dr. Russell Blaylock (who wrote the forward for this book) say in his own books that one should never starve the brain--so avoid low blood sugar, or it accelerates Alzheimer's?? What about Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn's book "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease" which recounts the success he has had with terminal heart patients by limiting their fat and oil intake? What about T. Colin Campbell's book "The China Study" documenting why a plant-based (i.e., vegan diet) is so beneficial for preventing cancer? I don't believe I have to risk heart disease by ingesting too much fat, or risk cancer by eating animal products--all in order to avoid Alzheimer's. The evidence seems overwhelming that a plant-based diet is the safest approach for most people. Perhaps Fife's diet is a success for epileptics and a few others, but I don't believe my husband and I will adopt it. So for now, I'd say the first half of the book was informative. But the second half was so completely opposite to what I currently believe that I'd never try this author's methods without a good deal more research and convincing.

Valuable knowledge for prevention or improvment.
Vry good book by Dr BruceFife who's done yrs of medical research on prevention, & also improvment of memory even in the most advanced cases where memory lost has shown to noticebly return. Also, WellWorth checking out DrFifes utubes on benefits of CoconutOil.
