Old bikes typically come with flooded batteries with a vent tube. I was busy this Fall with work and keeping up friends, so I didn't charge my battery with trickle charger often enough. Consequently, one day, my lights didn't work and my bike didn't start. I gave the old battery a 12+ hours of trickle charge since it had a 12 Ah capacity, but only lights worked afterwards. The battery was rated for 165 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps), but it wasn't starting my bike, so it was basically useless. I looked at sealed AMG batteries (no vent tubes or need to replenish electrolytes periodically) direct replacements for my particular 1973 Honda because your standard Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts batteries will not fit inside the stock battery compartment. At the same time, I'm holding off on "cafe-ing" the bike out, so I didn't want to switch to Shorai LFX lithium ion battery yet (smaller, more expensive); I wanted to enjoy the stock form of the bike for another year. After replacing the battery, the bike started in 3 attempts (cold start, 40 deg F New England weather). The bottom spacer is nice, but not required for these older 1970 Honda CL/CB models. It fit perfectly in my CL with extra clearance. Just make sure you use a band or a strap to hold the battery in place if your using a stock frame. Install is easy; it already comes with the single Allen wrench and screws you need. Make sure you cover the other 2 terminals that you're not using with the round plastic covers it comes with.

I am restoring a 1990 Kawasaki ZX-7that had been sitting unused for 15 years, and the first thing I replaced was the 16 year old lead acid battery that had completely dried out and died. The Motobatt was an exact replacement and was lighter than the one replaced, and it has functioned perfectly!!! On my first attempts to get the bike started it provided the power to crank until the fuel was drawn through the lines filters, and pump to the carbs, and kept the cranking going until the bike fired!!!! I have 150 miles on the bike now and it starts up in one crank with the MotoBatt!!! I can recommend the MotoBatt for motorcycles, it is a direct replacement and has plenty of power to get your bike started!!

These people are amazing. They are the only people to buy a battery from. Battery fit perfect, terminals were correct, the way the terminals are designed they fit right or left side. Great value for the money.

I've been through A LOT of batteries in 25 years of restoring and riding classic motorcycles, and this one is by far my favorite. With conventional batteries I was lucky to get two full years of use before replacement, and they needed to be coddled in times of low use or the charge would drop too low and cause damage. The first time I bought this battery was six years ago, and I'm just now replacing it. That's almost unheard of for a motorcycle battery. I did absolutely nothing to help prolong the life. I never put it on a trickle charger. I never unhooked it when the bike wasn't being ridden for months on end. It maintained a full charge for six years with zero maintenance. The only thing that could possibly be construed as negative about this battery is that when it dies, it dies immediately and completely. There is no nursing it along until you can get around to buying a replacement. It's done. But you have six years to prepare for that, so after five years or so buy another one and be ready.

I bought this to replace the old lead-acid battery on my CM400C. After looking around to no avail for a replacement in several local stores, I put the question out to my online Honda owners' group and got several recommendations for this particular battery. It is well-built and has plenty of cranking power. It also fits perfectly on my bike. While hefty, it's not overly heavy and the weight is not noticeable once mounted. The flexibility provided by the terminals - not just having four instead of two, but being able to connect to each terminal from a couple of different angles - is nice also. All in all, this is a very high quality product that I'm hoping will serve me well for several years.

I have an older bike and there are only two regular battery options now and both require maintenance. I got tired of topping off the water, having a drain tube and dealing with the acid so I looked into a maintenance free battery. I had to find it by size because if you go by year, this won't pop up in a search. Thankfully it fits like a glove with the terminals on the correct side to boot. I know it says "no initial charging required" but to maintain a battery properly, definitely charge it like you would for any battery, 10 to 18 hours just to be sure. Mine needed a charge out of the box so it's a good rule to follow and will extend the life of the battery by taking care of it properly from the start (no pun intended). I hope they're still making these in four or five years when I need a new one, I don't want to go back to the acidy kind ever again. Don't look any further, get this battery and go ride.

I ordered this battery to replace another exactly like it which I bought here in 3/2018. Unfortunately, this one arrived damaged, due to having been packed in a way that virtually guaranteed damage. The pictures show the bag of mounting hardware that was placed between a thin, flimsy plastic height spacer and a styrofoam sheet. The battery itself sat on top of this arrangement, which could collapse if the package had been dropped or even set down hard on a counter - which it clearly was. The result is the deep, sharp-edged dent shown in the bottom of the battery case. Because a VRLA battery builds some pressure during use, this flaw could easily start seeping electrolyte, ruining paint and chrome. I've had very good service from every Motobatt product I've purchased in the past and will order a replacement for this one. It's just a bummer to need to go through the return process and not get on the road for another week.

This battery is a replacement in my Honda XL600V (Transalp). I let the old battery sit outside in the winter without keeping it charged for a couple of months. The bright-yellow Motobatt required no initial charging, no filling, and no fussing. Bike fired right up. The Motobatt replacement is a little bit taller than the original Yuasa battery. It comes with a base that is about 1" tall. I ended up installing the battery without the base. The terminals can be put on either side of the battery, by unscrewing the posts and re-attaching them. This means that the positive terminal could be on the left or right side of the battery. Terminals are held in place with sturdy allen bolts. Will see how long this one lasts. Somebody did a wickedly thorough review on the internet (Texas Battery Showdown?) that had this battery beating out several others for reliability and durability. Highly Recommended
