Weird Las Vegas: Your Alternative Travel Guide to Sin City and the Silver State

I live in Nevada and now I know about the cool places to go see.

This is a good read, somethings interesting, some not. Unfortunalty things change a lot in Vegas (I live there) so I thought purchasing this book would tell me things I did not know, well it did on somethings, but there were still others that are not here anymore (Elvis Museum and other things). But I guess you have to take this book at what it is. A book of interesting things, that you may or not be able to see when you read it. But it still was interesting to read the things that were not here anymore, it made me wish that they were. My only advise would be if you get one of these book (Weird anything) and there is something you would really like to see and want to plan a trip to see it, check around, (Internet, or try and call the place) to see if it is still there.

The Weird [State]s series documents Fortean themes. Although all are a joy to read, some are better than others. I put Weird NV near, if not at, the top. As a Californian, I live near enough to visit these places. The weird[States] books are enriching my transition into retirement. The NV book documents fascinating histories of Vegas entertainers, ghost towns, atomic testfacilities, the great Silver Rush, the evolution of Vegas thru Bugsy Siegel and the mob, Howard Hughes, and so on. If you plan to visit NV, or don't but want to learn about its eccentricities, then read this book!

Great book with great pictures of all sorts of neat, weird and strange things to see in Las Vegas and other parts of Nevada.

I have lived in Nevada for over 40 years and can't believe I hadn't heard of some of these places. I purchased this book after planning a ladies' trip to Vegas. Enjoyed the lighthearted stories as well as some of the more eerie tales. Highly recommend these books!

Las Vegas and Nevada are a little weird already, and this book makes it more fun to explore. Really interesting tidbits about Nevada and Las Vegas that I didn't know about.This would be great gift for a tourist going to Nevada or just Vegas or a resident of Nevada.Get ready for some odd stories!

Bought two of these. Really enjoyed mine and gave one to a friend. Still used it as a reference and it helped to decide where to go that we might have missed otherwise. Interesting facts and all have some pictures. Easy read and short descriptions. Fun book to have sitting out.

It's so easy for travel books to become outdated, we live in such a fast paced world, and anything Vegas is liable to become irrelevant at a much more quickened pace.
