Wonderful stories! I had forgotten about these stories until my grown son reminded me of them. My 10 year old is not an avid reader.... until now. We got the first 12 books last night, she started reading the first one, she read until she fell asleep. She related the whole story to me and stopped on pg. 76, the first night! These are great stories for children. Once they start reading, they won't be able to put them down. I highly recommend these stories for children. They are in a format that makes reading quick and easy.

Absolutely LOVE these books for my kiddos! Simple storylines with simple kid centered adventures. My daughter and I read the first book and she was hooked so we came to amazon to buy the box sets. For reference, she's 7 and in 1st grade so everything about these books is perfect for her! Easy reading while introducing chapter books to her that she cam actually read herself. The books sprinkle in harder words to give them a taste of tougher chapter books to come; but for where she is reading at currently, these are perfect. These books have been around for ages so I bought with confidence knowing my younger kids/cousins would be able to use them once my daughter moves on. Great addition to any children's library! Purchase them now!

A bit of a hiccup with this boxed book set but upon contacting the seller, I received a prompt response and I am beyond satisfied with the resolution- very unexpected and appreciative.

My grandchildren will enjoy reading these during the summer! The paperbacks will be great for the beach and they are a treat to read to the younger children!

This is a great series that I really enjoying reading with my 2 kids (Aged 6 and 4) and they enjoy it also. You have to make sure that your kids are OK with hearing about some issues in the world without them being sugar coated. The series starts off with the kids explaining that their parents are dead. (Very small spoiler from the first chapter) A woman then tries to keep the older kids to work in her bakery for a bit, and send the youngest one to an orphanage. After you get past the kids taking car of themselves and not having the greatest means for survival the books are great! The kids get into innocent trouble. It's a wholesome book that kids love to keep reading. I even look forward to our evenings sitting together reading. This may not be the series for everyone but it's definitely worth giving it a try!

This is the perfect set of readers for the young child who you many not want to expose to the magic element found in lots of other books aimed at earlier independent readers. At first I worried it would be sad because the boxcar children have lost their parents but they have anything but a sad life. Its full of adventure and deep caring for one another. They manage to be curious and resourceful, kind and gentle. Buy it, you will be happy you did!
