Can the adjustable clamps on the sides of the tray be adjusted vertically? I have a power cable that comes out half way of the display.

They can move vertically as much as the cut out groove allows space wise. ie in order for you adjust for things like USB ports etc. Hope that helps.

How far from the edge are the bottom studs placed to hold the laptop and how wide are the studs in both orientations?

Firstly can you remove the clamps, i suspect they’d do my head in. secondly tray mounts with two screws am i right. is the tray rigid in use?

1) Yes, I never attached the clamps 2) I have mounted with four, works well for 14inch laptop

Could it hold a Samsung Ultra 14.6 inch tablet in a heavy duty case?

It’s very solid so I would assume so. I’ve put 16” laptops on without issue. It doesn’t really grip the device though, just prevents it sliding off. You attach these to a VESA arm so any rotation and droop would occur from the arm it is attached to
