Other or dog
Carra is a " other", a class below an " Elite". Elites rule over the others and can do anything they want to. Carra says how she feels and is considered a trouble maker. She just tried tried to get things done to improve their living conditions. Pace catches her taking some boards to patch the roofs of the shacks they are forced to live in. After being warned about her, he catches her up on one of the shacks hammering away. He forced her to get down and promptly spanks her behind beet red. Then he decides to take her as his assistant for his project. Raising dogs to help soldiers stay alive in combat zones. He commands her complete surrender and she has to comply. But she doesn't admit that she has fallen in love with him. He demands for her to explain why she is the way she is. She refuses until he starts to confide in her. But the fight continues on! But there is a happy ending, kind of. All in all, this is a very good book, but definitely for adults only! I recommend this book and others by this author. I have read several and she never disappoints.

Another good one
Once again Vonna Harper writes an excellent tale. It was nice to read the soldier story in it, but I'll be honest this isn't as deep as Ms. Harper sometimes takes us. Either way it was a great book

Not my idea of a good time.
First, let me say that I normally love reading this Author's work. This is possibly the worst book from this author that I've read. I am a big fan of her books. I want to say that I liked it, sadly, I didn't. I will continue to read the author's other series with enthusiasm.

Different story
Okay story. Not everyone is going to like this story. But,I do like the dark possessive Alpha Cowboy who spanks Carra. But it all end in a sweet happy ending.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Intense character-centric story...
This is the first story/book I have read in this Universe, so this was my introduction to the Society, Elites, and Others, and while it took me a little bit to get up to speed, this ultimately read as a solid, stand alone, done in one, character-centric book.I loved the journey of healing both Pace and Carra end up going on, though neither of them may have imagined at their first meeting that anything but conflict was in their future. Each of these characters comes to find the freedom and safety their lives, and roles in society afford them, even as they are discovering that what they’ve always believed about those in other positions/situations may not be as simple and clear cut as advertised.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mastering
I would recommend this book. It is filled with so many emotions many contradicting the way society thinks. In the end, it showed how true love is all about opening up every part of oneself. There are many scenes that will leave you wanting and possibly as wet as the characters.

Hated every single character
The characters were so confused themselves that it was impossible to make sense of them. Made it 80% of the way by sheer will because I don’t like leaving books unread but by that point it was too painful to finish.
