How often should these be replaced?

This actually depends on how frequently you will use the loofah, there is no such a period to change the loofah after but in general, it will last for months and you can replace it when you feel that it no longer get the job done as it used to be(i.e became extremely soft with no exfoliation,..etc), we can't say that you should replace it after 4 or 6 weeks as many others do just to make extra money out of their customers but we actually want the good for you and just want you to be pleased with the experience of the natural care. Just try it once and you will figure out how much it lasts for you.

These loofahs are grown, harvested, and sourced from Egypt

What materials are the attached strings and gift bag made out of?

The strings are made of a 100% natural cotton and the gift bag is made of a biodegradable material except for a thin plastic bag outside the gift bag as it is required to hold the barcode and other badges that the gift bag itself cannot hold.

Do these sponges get "soft/squishy" when put in water? Or, do they say firm and unflexible?

They stay firm but they are a bit more flexible.

Huge Big

I guess those are for the bathtub (which i dont have). Way to big for me and way to scratchy, but its probably just my skin since others had different reviews. It's still a good buy if you don't mind the roughness, also got a free small lofa pad for face. Thank you for that.

Loufa wie sie sein muss

Ich benutze mein Leben lang Loufas und zwar die besten aus Ägypten. Leider konnte ich in Deutschland nicht die Qualität finden und musste Wege finden sie aus dem Ausland zu bekommen. Endlich habe ich aber dieses Produkt gefunden, über Amazon ganz unkompliziert bestellt. Die Loufas kann ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Cleans well, lasts long, a little expensive but the quality pays for itself

I bought this probably 10 months ago now and I still haven't gone through the first loofah. It still doesn't have any mold because I removed the rope that was attached to it and I shake it after every shower to dry it as much as possible before hanging to dry. The aerated structure makes it dry really easily compared to synthetic knotted ones. I would also add that it scrubs a lot better than synthetic ones and it's also not too harsh on the skin either.
