LARQ PureVis Smart Self-Cleaning UV Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle

I really love this water bottle. Yes, the price point is on the higher side, but for someone who drinks a lot of water all day and doesn’t really want to have to wash their water bottle regularly, this is perfect. The battery lasts for several weeks. I washed it once when I first got it and haven’t washed it since. It’s been a couple months now, and the water looks, tastes, and smells just as clean as it did on day one. Since this bottle uses UV light, it’s only killing bacteria for you; it’s not doing anything to eliminate minerals and/or heavy metals. So as long as you fill it with filtered water, it stays fresh …… pretty much indefinitely, it seems. Super happy with this purchase.

This is my favorite water bottle I have ever purchased. Right out of the box when you pick it up it feels premium in the hand. The instructions are easy to understand which is something I was concerned about but it's super easy. Charges fairly quickly. It is micro-USB and not USB-C which is a bummer but it's all good. Mainly because a charge will last you several weeks based on use. The bottle itself is beautiful and fits in the water pouch of my day bag like a glove. For me, it's one of the purchases that make you go "why have I been using anything but this?" I was also shocked at how cold the water stayed after a full day of running around. The water by the end of my day was still surprisingly cool and crisp. I might have to get their water pitcher for the fridge.

As a former pro skier I am used to using lots of plastic water bottles. The simple reason behind this is - we would not clean our bottles, we did not make the time (at the time I was "too busy") but looking back, it was my error for not making the time - I suppose you can tell I have gotten a bit older too. Anyhow, LARQ you need to get the word out a bit about your brand, as no one I told or have shown this to has heard of you before, not even the concept. Reguardless, your execution is flawless. If you are not a mother of an athlete (gender does not matter) or an athlete yourself (again gender does not matter); you may not realize how 1) how much of a pain in the a** it is to clean out these water bottles on a daily basis and 2) just how quickly they actually do start to smell, badly. If this bottle were a dud I would already be able to tell as I have not washed it one time and used it for over a week straight. No smell, nothing - it is perfectly clean. In fact, I am the only healthy person in my house currently ;)

I think this water bottle is good, but in my opinion it's a little overhyped. One thing I do like is that it doesn't leak, which is definitely a plus. However, I wasn't a fan of the fact that it doesn't come with a straw. I'm a Stanley cup person at heart, so that may be why this one didn't win me over. My husband, on the other hand, absolutely loves his and uses it every day. He actually prefers it over his Stanley because it has a more rugged, "manly" look. Overall, it's held up well, but I will say it dents pretty easily if you drop it, so you'll want to be careful. Also, if you have the version with the charging lid, be prepared to charge it fairly often since the battery doesn't seem to last very long. While it wasn't my favorite, it's been a great water bottle for my husband, so I think it really comes down to personal preference.

We wanted to get a self cleaning UV filtered bottle for our Costa Rica vacation as recommended by our Travel doctor due to water sanitization concerns in Costa Rica and this was bang on - value for money. CR doesn't have portable water everywhere and in some national parks you cannot carry plastic bottles. So this was a life savior. We bought 2 of these and just kept filling it with water whenever we ran out. Worry free. The only catch is these do not have any holders to carry easily, so we got some silicone rings with carabiners to attach them to our backpacks and that worked (though the carabiners and silicone ring broke eventually). Maybe we will research and get better quality holders for next time. Otherwise - the bottle itself was awesome. We had a 1 month vacation and somehow just 1 charge lasted the entire trip. Highly recommended.

A family member ordered one, it worked fine for about a month on the initial charge. One day, while initiating a normal cleaning cycle with the cap on the bottle, the light ring turned orange. I initially thought it was low on battery, so I charge it. It turned solid green relatively quickly, indicating a full charge. We attempted to use it again, and it worked fine. However, when attempting to use it again later the same day, the cap turned orange again. Without reading the manual, I thought it was indicating low battery again, so I plugged it in. It turned solid green after only a few minutes. I couldn't get it to work again, it was always the orange light, so we returned that one to Amazon and order a new one. This one was shipped directly from LARQ, costs $9.95 in shipping. I just received the new unit today, after reading the manual again, I realized the orange light meant the ambient light sensor thinks the cap is activated outside of the bottle, not a low charge. So the light sensor malfunctioned in a month. The new unit also has a tiny chip on the bottle. The product is based on a good idea, but it is manufactured in China, so quality is questionable. I just hope the new one will last more than a month. In hindsight, maybe I should not have ordered it again. I cannot fully recommend this product, based on it's questionable reliability and quality, expensive price, and it's made in China. Update: The bottle cap is not water tight. If you put ice cold water in the bottle, you can see condensation and water inside the bottle cap. This happened to 2 bottle caps. When this happens, the cleaning cycle will not activate, you get the orange light. I contacted LARQ support about this, they haven't responded in 7 days. Either I have bad luck or the bottle cap has a design flaw.

This product is beautifully designed and really does make water taste better. It also maintains the temperature very well.

Putting in my two cents here... UV-C light falls in the only spectrum of UV that can affect DNA replication. The light is enough to stop replication, not completely kill the bacteria. That’s enough for commercial use, both in the UVC wands, phone cleaners, and this water bottle. Why? Cells that do not replicate cannot infect. I do not understand the notion that the light ‘does not kill chemicals secreted by bacteria, which makes you sick’. Bacteria makes you sick. And if you disrupt the dna activity of everything in the bottle, there’s nothing alive that would be harmful. There is no perfect water. Don’t even get me started on how many CFU (coliform forming units- or fecal matter contamination) there is in tap water and bottled water. This water bottle comes pretty darn close to perfect. It doesn’t ‘filter’ so you will occasionally get a metallic taste from various sources- water with lower pH, the metal in water from older pipes. Should be fine as long as there’s not high lead levels. Every city has a water report that tells you the content, including if there’s fluoride (good for you), lead (not good for you). Also a stainless steel container is not one that ‘encourages’ biofilm activity- that would be plastic, which this is not. There are several reviews floating on the interweb from medical ppl doubting that it would work or that UVC light DOES work. As a general rule, don’t side with a camp that makes claims without evidence. Research. Science. “Trust me, I’m a doctor” is only a t-shirt slogan. A good doctor can explain to you why- with both the research done and clinical effects. I’ve never used that phrase and I don’t plan on it. Tl;dr —- The Larq water bottle is great for travelers, nomads, water purists like me. UVC light is proven to de-germ. It does not filter which is generally okay. A little bit of metal is fine, a lot of lead in your city water is not. Please stop upvoting unproven claims.

Die larq Flasche ist mit Abstand eine sehr teure Flasche, wenn man einfach nach einer Trinkflasche sucht ist man hier falsch. Wenn man aber nach einer hochwertigen und qualitativ hochen Flasche sucht ist man hier gold richtig. Die Flasche ist sehr gut verarbeitet und man fühlt das es sich hierbei um ein Marken Produkt handelt. Die beworbene kalt/warm Haltung ist sogar etwas zu gut da heißer Tee sogar bei offenen Deckel teilweise 1.5-2.5 Stunden braucht um auf trink Temperatur abzukühlen. Man kann heißen Tee einfüllen und die Flasche für 6h in die gefrier truhe legen und der Tee wird immernoch angenehm warm sein. Die selbst saüberung funktioniert sehr gut und die Flasche fühlt sich merkbar sauber an in Vergleich zu anderen Flaschen. Das schmeckt man auch raus. Der Akku hält mehrere Wochen ohne Probleme. Wer eine gute Flasche für allwetter oder lange auflüge sucht hat hier die perfekte Wahl gefunden.
