Can you switch from AC ( plug & wall socket) type to the battery type by switching the type of cord on the same hoof trimmer ? ??

No, you can’t switch. The cord has a loading dock for the battery. I originally bought the AC and sent it back for the battery trimmer. I love it. Can do my goats hooves anywhere

How much does it weigh?

The tool itself is about 13 inches long and just a little over a pound. 1lb. 3oz.

Does it have to be dewalt? I only own Milwaukee tools, will their batteries work? .

Yes it does have to be a DeWalt. All the manufactures make their batteries and chargers slightly different so you have to buy there equipment. We could only afford to make one type of connection so we chose DeWalt. Thank you for your interest in our product.
