Learn to read with the classic Amelia Bedelia! Ever since Amelia Bedelia made her debut in 1963, young readers have been laughing out loud at the antics of this literal-minded but charming housekeeper. From dressing the chicken to drawing the drapes, Amelia Bedelia does exactly what Mr. and Mrs. Rogers tell her to do. If things get a bit mixed up, well, that's okay. When Amelia Bedelia is involved, everything always turns out perfectly in the end! This Level 2 I Can Read is perfect for kids who read on their own but still need a little help. Whether shared at home or in a classroom, the engaging stories, longer sentences, and language play of Level Two books are proven to help kids take their next steps toward reading success. "No child can resist Amelia [Bedelia] and her literal trips through the minefield of the English language—and no adult can fail to notice that she's usually right when she's wrong."— The New York Times Book Review Review: Cute story - Good book for beginners Review: Very good book - Purchased for a gift for a helpful young girl. Amelia is always fun to read together.

Good book for your emerging reader as far as simple ...
Good book for your emerging reader as far as simple to sound out words or figure out in context. Some of the book is written in cursive, so that is an added challenge. The jokes are based on play on words "Draw the curtains" and she draws a picture of the curtains. Some of these may not be as common of terms today, so it can be confusing for a younger child who is an early reader. We never say "draw the curtains" in our house, or many of the other dated phrases. The husband on the first page is also smoking a pipe in the car which I found to be dated as well. But a classic and a longer book that is easier to read.

It’s an older book, funny even today.
The story, the silly character Amelia, was funny and very relatable. Bought for a five year old, a bit advanced reading for that age, but seven year read it to her. He loved it.

Nice and funny
This story is really enjoyable with many fine jokes. My daughter is not able to pick all the jokes yet but she liked the story of this very clumsy maid who turns catastrophes into happy endings.

great book in the I can read range.
Although based in the uk, my daughter is following the I CAN READ scheme from the USA. We have completed the Marley books and today this book arrived. My 5 year old has read half. The story is good and just enough text to make the story interesting. We are yet to play the cd. A great price via Amazon - bought with a selection of others that were reduced.
