A great discovery
I’ve read about the health benefits of cacao, and, as a man with serious health issues, I decided to give it a try. I used a briki (also called an ibrik), which is the small, distinctively shaped saucepan in which Turkish coffee is brewed. (Greek too) For the first mugful, I used one rounded teaspoon of cacao. I added a sprinkling of dried chilli flakes, three cardamoms, and a sprinkling of cinnamon. When it was done, brought to a rising boil three times, I poured it into a mug. I then stirred in a teaspoon of honey. It is a very pleasant and satisfying drink. I’m tempted to try it with two teaspoons of cacao next time. As for the spices, I’m wondering if it was worth putting them in. The chilli gave a slight tingle at the back of the roof of my mouth, nothing more. The cinnamon and cardamom were not noticeable. The rich flavour of the cacao overwhelmed them, I suppose. I may experiment next time with using powdered cardamom, maybe that would be better. Another experiment to try is adding a small amount of coffee. In conclusion, I find this cacao to be a very pleasant and satisfying drink, and probably very addictive.

My First Experience of Cacao and not my last.
I have been reading about the health benefots of Cacao and wanted to experience it for myself. I don't like drinking chocolate as I find it too processed and far too sweet. This is a more bitter tasting chocolate and I find that perfect. I place a large teaspoon of the powder in a cup and pour hot water on it, give it a good stir and drink it. No added anything just hot water and I find it delicious. As for the health benefits who knows but as a drink it's delightful. I know it can be used for baking but having a cup or two (especially late in the evening) as a nightcap is a perfect end to the day. The amount of powder for the price and it being organic and raw cacoa powder seems exceptional value for money. Will certainly purchase it again.

The Gold Standard for Cacao Powder
I have never been disappointed by the rich chocolately flavour in the six years I've been using Nurifi cacao. The finely milled, silky powder is without bitterness and transforms my morning oats. It is supplied in easily resealable tubs. For anyone serious about flavour and quality Nurifi is the brand to go for. I'm a fan.

Disappointed - has always been better quality
Really disappointed I’ve been buying this brand of cacao powder for a long time and it has always been exceptional rich quality and great value for money. However, the quality in my recent purchase has gone downhill. It’s dry, clumpy, pale and doesn’t smell good. You can see the difference in quality in the picture. Some of the old quality batch at the bottom of the jar, huge difference in colour. The packaging had changed from a tub to air packed bag. I don’t know if this has changed the quality.

Great value
The pure cacao is a great quality product. I like the natural taste. The packaging in a tub is handy but would prefer a non-plastic alternative.

Good fresh powder
Perfect chocolate flavour, not bitter. Good quality powder with no clumping. Great resealable tub with no leaks or spoilage. Love that it is organic. A little goes a long way. You can smell the chocolate as soon as you open it. Super freshness. Highly recommended.

positive experience with seller
I had a very positive experience with the seller, I have tried many brands of raw organic cacao including this one twice before, it's very hard (for me) to tell which is genuine, I was confused initially about the product as the formula had changed from roasted to unroasted, it tasted different (sort of like Green and Black's 85% dark chocolate or the organic 85% dark chocolate from Monsieur Roth) with a sort of coffee-ish (?) twist is the best way I can think to describe it. And the colour is paler and the texture is different, sort of flakes. So I asked the seller thinking it was fake cacao but they replied me saying it was due to the formula change and also that it used to be roasted but now it is unroasted which is why it was different and the nutrition benefit is better for you than the previous version. So although I was a bit apprehensive for the taste I was happy for the explanation

Decent but disappointing
Decent but Disappointing compared to previous batches. I’ve been a repeat buyer of Nurifi's 1KG Organic Peruvian Cacao Powder, as it used to be my go-to for rich, high-quality raw cacao at a great price point.Unfortunately, the most recent bag ( not a tub) feels like the quality has taken a noticeable dip. The powder seems drier and less creamy than before – it doesn't have that same oily richness or deep chocolate aroma I've come to expect from good raw cacao. I suspect this might be related to the skyrocketing cacao bean prices over the past year (which hit record highs in late 2024 and remain elevated into 2025), possibly leading to changes in sourcing or processing to keep costs down. The flavour is still okay – earthy and chocolatey enough for adding to smoothies, oatmeal, or as a flavouring agent in baking – but it's not as intense or satisfying as previous purchases. It's perfectly serviceable for everyday use, especially for what was a competitive price at the time of purchase. .Overall, 3 stars: fine if you're on a budget and just need a basic cacao powder, but not the standout quality it once was. Hoping future batches return to form!
