Take three friends. Add an old cookbook. Combine with cute boys and a pinch of magicโฆand see what kind of chaos ensues! When Kelly Quinn and her two BFFs discover a dusty old cookbook while cleaning out the attic, the girls decide to try a few of the mysterious and supposedly magical recipes that are inside. To their surprise, the Keep โEm Quiet Cobbler actually silences Kellyโs pesky little brother and the Hexberry Tart puts a curse on mean girl Charlotte. Is it possible that the recipes really are magic? Who wrote them and where did they come from? And most importantly of all, when boys get involved, what kind of trouble are the girls stirring up for themselves? Review: Fun Tween Gift - I try not to give books as gifts unless I read them first, and this one had a cute, fun cover that caught my eye and looked enticing. I've always loved novels with cooking-related themes, and if there's cooking + magic + mystery + humor + boys... bingo! I gave it to an 11-year-old who gobbled it up. If you want to break the mold and give a book (gasp!) to the birthday girl, this is a great choice. Review: Daughter Loved it. - My daughter loved this book. As a parent, I found it very fun to read with her. It was very wholesome and fun story. My daughter (9) enjoyed the bits of humor thrown in throughout the book. There is a show based on this book that my daughter also enjoyed.

An Interesting Addition to the 'Tween Literature Shelf
This is a well-written and engaging story about three seventh-grader girls who find a magic cookbook. It is a perfect book for fifth- and sixth-grade students. This book is also the basis of the Amazon TV series "Just Add Magic." If you like the book, then the Amazon series (which has had two seasons already) is a fun view. The series Amazon is very well-written and adds many plot lines and details not present in the Cindy Callaghan book.

Super cute book if you are fan of โJust Add Magicโ
Really cute book, however this chapter book might be a little difficult for my 2nd grader, not only keeping her interest, but she would need assistance with reading it. In fairness my niece who is also in the 2nd grade, would have zero difficulty in reading it.

Fantastic fun read for girls and moms alike
This book was so much fun for my 9 year old girl and all her friends. I purchased 12 books, my daughter gave them to her friends as gifts, and we started a book club for the young readers. We set a completion date and each girl read at her own pace, culminating with a BOOK CLUB PARTY at our home. We served LOVE BUG JUICE and other fun foods from the listed recipes in the book. Author Cindy Callaghan had a comprehensive discussion section on her website which assisted the mothers in guiding the book club discussion at the party. It got a group of little girls excited to read, and began to teach them the joy of discussing good books with their friends, sharing viewpoints and talking about character development. JUST ADD MAGIC was well - written and kept the girls excited to read each coming chapter. The characters are lively and interesting, keeping the reader engaged and eager to know what is going to happen to them next. The girls are now in the midst of reading LOST IN LONDON, and the 2nd book club party is set for Mid November.

Great for lovers of the TV series "Just Add Magic"
The girls have seen the tv / video series - all seasons and really got into it. When we told them there were books and BOOKS, in our opinion are always better because your imagination paints the scenes as you read, they asked their Mama for them and as grandparent ofcourse we ordered them for them. Our daughter-in-law said they devoured them.

my daughter loves it!!
My daughter is a huge fan of the show so when I saw this book I had to get it! She loves it!!! It's so much more elaborate, of course, and detailed than the book. She enjoys reading it and comparing it to the series, like the description of the girls are quite different and so forth. And I'm so happy I can get her off the computer or t.v and read more!! I will be buying this authors other books for sure!
