Product Description John Renbourn and Jacqui McShee are two pivotal figures in the history of British folk music. Founding members of the British folk-rock group Pentangle in the 1960s, guitarist John Renbourn and vocalist Jacqui McShee have been musical collaborators and innovators for four decades. Renbourn's guitar style is a unique product of years of curiosity and investigation. Exploring the guitar in unusual and beautiful ways, John takes his listeners through a luxuriant musical landscape of masterful playing, warm vocals and witty asides. The consummate fingerstylist plays a unique folk-baroque fusion of British and Celtic folk music with jazz, blues, ragtime, classical, Middle Eastern, and pre-Renaissance music. London-born McShee combines an enchanting soprano voice with an experimenter's outlook. Together, John Renbourn and Jacqui McShee are a magical treat. Running time 84 minutes DVD is region 0, playable worldwide. Titles included: Abide With Me At The Break Of The Day (Duo With Clive Carroll) Can't Keep From Crying Dark Island Great Dreams From Heaven I Am A Maid That's Deep In Love John's Talk Kokomo Blues Lindsay Medley: Bunyan's Hymn/I Saw Three Ships/English Dance My Johnny Was A Shoemaker One Morning In May Sandwood Down To Kyle South Wind The Bonny Greenwood Side The Plains of Waterloo Watch The Stars Review A fantastic concert. I've seen lots of live concerts by Renbourn and many years ago I had the luck of knowing him (and Bert Jansch). Some years ago I saw a fantastic Jacqui McShee concert in my hometown. Obviously I've got all the records by Pentangle and the single musicians of the group, including Dave Thompson. This DVD is simply wonderful, but could seem too short (90 minutes about), because a long time fan like me is never tired of these fantastic musicians. It was recorded in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2005, mostly in duo (and sometimes a cappella) and part in trio, with second guitarist Clive Carroll. The tunes are mostly famous, but in rare versions. Everybody should buy this. --Massimo' Pulleghini/ Customer ReviewThis is a DVD of the current tour show by John & Jacqui, filmed in late 2004 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England (we were fortunate to have them here in Seattle a few nights ago, May 15, 2005). The DVD includes the concert (65 minutes, uninterrupted), a nice segment of John talking to the audience about his early days and influences up to Pentangle (13 minutes), and a one-song bonus track duo with Clive Caroll (3 minutes). Clive also joins in during the concert on the track Kokomo Blues. The sound and video are crisp and clear, and the playing/singing wonderful as ever. If you can't see the current tour, this is the next best thing. --Marcus Hawkes/ Customer Review
