Good solid regulator
The first thing that struck me was this was heavier and bigger than I thought it would be. I guess I just had a different vision in my head from the pictures. This is for Pex A. If you aren't using the Pex that uses the expander tool, this is not the regualtor for you. I would buy this again.

Sent a used/already opened item and was supposed to be new
This is the second time I ordered this item and the packaging had already been ripped open. The first time the gauge was broken. This time the fittings are abnormal in size and I missed the return window. My fault but that wonโt happen again as I will not chance a third issue.

needs special tool to flare pex tubbing for fitting.
fitting pex to nipples requires a tool for opening up tubbing enough to slide over male ends. costly and hard to find for a one time job. as enclosed manual states- may need additional regulator if water pressure is too great, this was my case. 95 lbs incoming was too much for this regulator to control consistently. after getting the item installed and putting the old regulator ahead of it in line, it works well and having a pressure gauge after adjustment is very handy.

Works perfect after over a year.
So many of the bad reviews are because people don't understand that this is PEX-A. A is not the same as your B you get st the big box store.

Pro
Apollo products are awesome, great prv for those that say its not 3/4 it is likely they are trying to use on pex b which as folks in the industry know is not the same as pex a and of course as one individual said you need the tool to expand it over the barbs, if you are a diy homeowner you need to get the push connect prv which is exactly the same as this one only sharkbite style push connect so you dont need the special pex a tool and if you bought your pex at your local hardware store its likely not pex a anyway so get the other apollo with push connects and quit knocking their product

Failed after only 3 years. No rebuild kit available.
The house we recently bought gets its water from a local independent water company. The service is great and the quality of the water is fantastic. However, their water pressure control leaves much to be desired. I have recorded water pressures ranging from 36 PSI to 86 PSI throughout the day. That can take its toll on toilet flush valves, faucet seals, and water heaters. I installed this right after the main shutoff valve and lowered its factory setting of 50 PSI to 45 PSI. That still gives us a good shower while getting rid of the water hammer and "whistling" at the fixtures. I supervised 6 different water plants during my time in Public Works. Water pressure of 45 PSI seems to be the sweet spot for good water flow and plumbing fixture and water heater longevity. It's nice to get something American Made for a change. UPDATE 08/17/2025: This regulator has failed. It will no longer control the pressure with swings from 35 to 78 psi. No rebuild kit is available either. I have found this to be a common problem on other websites as well. A regulatory in this price range should have a rebuild kit available. No more Apollo regulators for me.
