How to take them down and put them away without tangling?

I would suggest that while the lights are still hanging that you use twist ties (like the ones that came in the original packaging) or clothespins to secure each individual string of lights before putting them all away

Hi, my lights are outside and stopped working. Is there anything I can do to fix them? I put them in my bushes and do not want to take them out.

This set of lights is garbage, cut your losses and throw them away. My set lasted less than 1 month.
