How to Choose Camshafts and Time Them for Maximum Power (SpeedPro Series)

General overview, not step by step process
Good basic info. Still not a step by step process as I would've liked. Only a couple pages for the SOHC witch was disappointing.

In general overview of cam installation, maintanace, and more towards blue printing for cam shaft
The good,In detail or step by step info about cam and more towards a blue printing for the cam shaftThe bad,Not too deep in effect of the cam profile towards making horse power/ engine torque in terms of the effect on different cam profile for exhaust cam n intake cam, overlap effect or effect in advance or retarding the cam timing in intake or exhaust towards engine performance. To summarize, there is no info how engine behave or characteristic involving cam specific timing when we play around intake timing or exhaust timing and valve lift

Camming
Even though a little dated ..some info on a subject that's been written about many times . Good author here!

Choosing Camshafts
Good one time read. Explains well many dynamic concepts but I do not refer back to it as a reference book.

Review
An excellent book that removes the mystery around selecting camshafts for a particular purpose. Very clear instructions relating to how to install and maximise the potential of a standard or performance camshaft

Needed to Re-Engage
I knew stacks in my 20's but stumbled to explain the other day so I got hold of this book to see what is happening now. interesting but I think there was a lot better stuff to read in the 60's & 70's.

oh dear!
As someone who knows a bit about engine tuning (and especially camshafts) the only word I can find to describe this book is - rubbish. The author clearly knows nothing of how the four timings of a camshaft correlate with the rest of an engine, especially the exhaust length and diameter - or, indeed, how the inlet diameter and length come into the equation too. The effect of exhaust lead over inlet is completely disregarded (it appears the author is unaware of the link). There is also a complete lack of understanding regarding advancing or retarding camshafts - either as a whole or, if twin-cam - individually and how changes here can move power within the rev range. My advice to anyone hoping to get 'maximum power' from their engines is go buy a book from someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

must have
Ein sehr gutes Buch und schließt die Lücken zu Nockenwellenauslegung und Timing. Kann ich jedem nur empfehlen der sich mit Motortuning auseinander setzt.
