Can the nibs be swapped out without buying a whole new feed system? If so, what size nib?

Pretty sure you have to buy a complete nib and feed system that just screws in.It can probably be Messed with and done but I Personally would not want to do it.

So far my pen hasn't faded, but I have a number of pens (both FP and rollerballs) and I use different ones every day. If I were using this pen every day, maybe fading would be an issue. It is an attractive pen, however.

Anyone notice the pocket clip moves a little to one side or the other? Mine does and just want to know if it's to be expected.

No, the pocket clip on my Wanderlust Malta is rock solid as I would expect of any quality pen. I fear you have a defective or damaged pen cap/pocket clip. Sorry for the bad news.

I have the Rollerball version that takes the #8523 refill. Does anyone know if it can take the Ballpoint refill #8513 with no other modifications?

8513 only works in the twist ballpoint Cross pens. They make a jumbo refill that has casing as large as 8523 with ballpoint option. I don’t know that refill number, but you should be able to find it! 😀
