Samsonite Converter/Adapter Kit With Pouch, Black/Red, One Size

A great product to take traveling with you. The adapter served me in Spain, Switzerland, France, and the UK. Never failed.

I used it to power a multiple effects pedal in Europe. The conversions are very confusing. My pedal consumes 12 watts and this converter provides over 1400watts. I don't believe that's correct though. Good thing is it didn't melt. I'm going to use it again this fall.

I purchased this converter/adapter kit for my wife’s two-week trip through Europe (Germany, Spain, Italy, and Austria). I also bought a separate brand of simple adapter that does not include a converter. My intent was for her to use the Samsonite “converter” in the bathroom with her hair dryer, curling iron, and straightener. To be extra cautious, all her tools were dual-voltage rated, so there should have been no problem anywhere she traveled. Unfortunately, on her very first morning in Berlin, nothing worked properly. • Her hair dryer wouldn’t heat up. • Her curling iron wouldn’t turn on. • Her Babyliss Pro straightener (dual voltage) barely heated, started making clicking sounds, and then began smoking before she could use it. When we troubleshot over FaceTime, I had her bypass the Samsonite converter and use only the other brand’s basic plug adapter. Instantly, the hair dryer and curling iron worked perfectly — confirming the converter was the problem. Sadly, the straightener was already destroyed. The “converter” circuitry in this Samsonite kit is junk. Looking back, I should’ve known better — $30 for a compact travel unit from a luggage company, not an electronics manufacturer, was a red flag. I’ll be returning it and will never trust a Samsonite-branded item again. Buyer beware: Skip this converter and use a high-quality adapter or converter instead.

This did just what it said it would do - easy to use and stores readily in the bag provided. I found that the main European portion needs to have the additional 2-pronged piece when traveling in Italy because the prong holes are slightly closer together there - and that actually turned out to be convenient when I had to plug my CPAP machine into a bed-side plug that has an on-off switch (found in all of the places I stayed). The extra piece also worked well with my European hair dryer.

Like everything from Samsonite. You will be never disappointed. We travel around Europe and Australia and all the adapters works perfectly.
