Great for Cats, too!
Oh my gosh! My cats love this stuff! We use it primarily as a topper for several of their meals. We either crush it to powdery or break it into smaller chunks. I’ve been feeding it to them for about a year. Frequently, I’ll put their food down, they’ll sniff and begin to walk away. As soon as they hear the bag open and see me put some on their food, they’ll sniff come back. And then it’s gone! To keep it fresh, I break up the bag in smaller bags and use them one at a time. Great product, a little expensive, but my cats love it!

Great way to add protein to my cats food
I’m thrilled to have this Top quality chicken breast for my fur babies. Yes, it’s pricy but it is the best quality freeze dried chicken I have found to date for my cats and I’m glad to have this to boost their protein intake. It is crumbly and powdery but this means it’s well processed white meat chicken breast and my cats don’t need jumbo chunks. I say for cats and cats on a wet diet it’s great. Super big chunks can be broken down to treat size and the crumb and powder are a great topper on their wet can meals. My cats purr as they eat this, their contentment is so high. They even lick the plate to make sure they get every powdery speck. This shipped in an envelope, so I’m glad I got the 21oz vacuumed packed brick. This way it avoided being pulverized in shipping. Yes, there’s still crumbs and powder, but I use this as topper on my cats wet meals to enhance their daily protein intake. The bigger chunks I sort into containers for daily treats or to latter break down as food topper. Nothing goes to waste with my kitties. Again yes, it’s pricy for 21 oz but it has to be multiple lbs of real chicken breast that’s had the water content removed and I’m not capable of doing that myself. This is a shelf stable way for me to give my kitties real chicken without the mess of chopping fresh chicken for them. Especially since one of my girls turns her nose up as fresh but goes ballistic for this. Win win for me and my kitties. I totally prefer this over the “Stewart’s” chicken breast I have bought for years. This is a superior product to that one for sure. I’ll be buying this Whole Life Pet - Just One - Pure Chicken Breast from now on.

Although it says for Dogs, My cat loves these!
I bought the dog version because its more economical, but the same ingredients - simple freeze-dried chicken breast. They are wonderful to have on hand as a treat or extra little meal at times! Also I would imagine wonderful for a traveler too. I do not give these to my cat in their packaged state because i dont like even giving just hard food to pets because of the dehydration factor, but what I do instead is love taking a few of the pieces out, placing them in a little bowl of spring water, and rehydrate them back to fresh cooked chicken breast ready to be devoured by my feline! They literally rehydrate within a minute or so, and half way through i pinch them to allow the water to get all the way through to the core. Once rehydrated I dice the chicken pieces up for my cat in a plate and add some of the soaking water for juice, and voila, a nice healthy pure protein treat for my cat! He adores them!!! Licks the plate clean and waits for more! Loved so much by the both of us (me ease of use, him flavor) I have ordered these three times now and will always be retuning for more!. *An added note - I find ordering the dog version better than buying the ones for cats - because The cat version came in smaller pieces. These smaller pieces i think may be more of the end cuts of breast, the longer pieces going to the dog bags, and these smaller cat ones therefore had more hard edges of what I believe is the dehydrated little bits of fat or tendon perhaps? in the meat. I find them also in the larger dog pieces, but less frequently. They do not soften when rehydrated and remain quite hard so I always remove them when dicing up the meat. I mention this fact because with the cat version of smaller pieces I just found way too many pieces containg these hard fat ridges making more waste. (like hard crystallized fat that resembles resin bc dehydrated). The larger dog pieces seem to be the nicer clean cuts of white breast from the center so they have a much less noticable amount if these "hard bits" so I prefer the dog version for this reason.

Impressed with the company and the product quality
I had already bought smaller packages of Whole Life from the local pet store, so I knew our very finicky cat liked this product. But the store often only carried small bags or was out of stock, so I decided to try this larger package. I read several reviews that complained about the packaging, but I also noticed that the company responded very politely to these complaints and explained how they were revising their packaging for Amazon. I was tremendously impressed by how true this was. The 21 oz dried chicken comes shipped in a re-sealable bag inside a cardboard box from Whole Life, which is then shipped inside the Amazon box. From my experience, the pieces are even larger and less broken than from the smaller store packages. I support a company that listens to customer complaints. The 21 oz lasts about a month for one cat, twice a day (supplemented with some dry food as well). When you get to the bottom of the bag after a month, yes there are powdered crumbles, but I don't see how this would be otherwise. And if you mix them with water, its the same consistency as canned cat food and is just fine. Some other good points about this product. 1) The simply say (right on the box) its for dogs or cats. No trying to charge you more for a cat version of the same product. 2) I have also purchased Pure Bites and I find this chicken to be a much higher quality. Pure Bites tends to have tendons or fat in the freeze dried chunks, which create very sharp points, like thin chicken bones, and you have to hand check each and every piece. The Whole Life chicken is much more reliable. Only an occasional hardened by-product is found. 3) It comes with some rather large chunks, but these are very easy to break up with your fingers, and you actually feel you are really getting your money's worth because just one or two large chunks are enough for a one cat meal.

YOU CAN USE IT ALL AND YOUR CAT WILL LOVE YOU!!!
I first bought this for my runt of the litter bengal/main coon mix Gracie. She was less than 2 lbs. at 12 weeks when I adopted her off of Petfinder. All ears and a tiny squeak meow. Her brother more than double her size. There were at least 4 cats and 2 dogs at the location, so I figured she got bullied out of her food. I was on a mission to get her up to fighting weight. I love that it is human grade. Smells like chicken when you open it. She loves hunting the bigger pieces and I used it to train her to jump up onto window perches or other furniture to get her collar on and off. And she will come in from outside when she hears me shaking the bag! I've seen complaints about the powder. It's vacuum sealed to help prevent it from disintegrating, but some of it can't be helped, but don't fret--you can use it up. THE POWDER IS GREAT FOR A FINICKY EATER LIKE GRACIE. She gets both wet and dry food, but she is a chicken only gal especially for the wet food. BUT IF I MIX IN OR SPRINKLE THE CHICKEN POWDER WITH A LITTLE HOT WATER IN BEEF/SEAFOOD WET FOOD, SHE GOBBLES IT RIGHT UP! I just put the small pieces and powder into a plastic container and mix it into her wet food portions. That helps get her good nutrients and bulk up the wet food. Gracie is a happy kitty eating those meals! She's a 10-12 lb. kitty depending on the time of the year. A runt no longer.

Kitty crack! (except healthy and legal)
We buy these for the head (and tail) of our household: the cat. Our vet suggested freeze dried chicken treats for our kitty (Thor) who needs to put on some weight, she suggested the brand that comes in the little square bottle, but this brand is way better. They have a cat version but it's the same thing except smaller pieces and smaller packages. This has larger pieces that you can break up or crumble, less ingredients (as in no additives), better price and after reading more about the company, yeah, we want to put our money on them so they can keep making high quality stuff for our kitty. Also, not only is this stuff basically healthy kitty crack, but the leftover dust (it IS freeze dried chicken, so there's going to be some crumbles and chicken dust) makes almost anything appetizing to kitty. We've used it to help transition Thor to different, healthier food and more recently, to homemade food. We could probably sprinkle it on his archenemy, the vacuum, and he would lick if off without fear. (...but we wouldn't do that. The natural adversarial relationship between cats and vacuums is not to be tampered with.)

What in the world?
Just got the second bag of these cat treats (chicken) and this bag is extremely dried out, almost to the point it looks like those pork rind things that people eat. Has that same really hollow crunch to it. Have been getting this brand for a while and liked it because of the human grade ingredients. However, I got a bag that was very subpar about 2 months ago. Then, when we reordered again, this next bag was very fresh smelling and it looked completely different. No "pork rind" kind of skin. It was white, really soft and a little crisp on some of the edges. It was great. Next, we just reordered again thinking that the one that was terrible was just a fluke, but nope! Seems that we are back to getting that same old awful quality stuff. Not sure why this is happening, but would like an explanation and for it to go back to good again or this one will be discarded sadly. ADDENDUM: 9/29/20 - As for an update: I even wrote an email to the company owner (who is a very nice person), and he replaced one of the bags I got (sent him photos). His shipment was great, just like the older ones and it smelled fresh and looked white instead of brown and hard. So, thought we'd give it another try because of the company being nice and trying to help. Ordered two more bags (one from here and another from another company just to see if that made any difference, and both were again horrible quality. Really saddens me that what began as a great product has changed drastically for some reason unknown to me. I was buying the largest bags that are approx. $70 and so am very sad to say that we will not be getting this brand anymore because it is too expensive to be substandard compared to what it used to be. Am going with Cat-Man-Doo and just got a small bag of that to see what their quality would be compared to Whole Life and it was fresh, white and very good (I tasted it and YES, I also tasted the Whole Life since it's supposed to be human grade, but even my cats wouldn't eat the bags that something was wrong with them.) Maybe some day, things will improve, but until that time, would recommend not getting a large bag because you, like me, will be stuck with a $70 bag of something that is not up to what this company's standards used to be unfortunately.

GREAT product, EXCELLENT customer service!
I have been buying this product for several years and have always been delighted with it, or rather, my cat and my dog have always been delighted with it! I have trained my cat to come inside when I call her, by giving her a piece of chicken when she responds!! It looks just like a piece of chicken breast that has been sliced and it is easy to break it into any size you want for your pet. I read 1 negative review recently, so I looked at other products to find something comparable. Then I remembered that you usually get what you pay for! This product is not cheap, but it IS excellent. So I ordered another bag, as usual. I was surprised when I opened the bag to find these small, rectangular shaped pieces of very hard, and hard to break chicken. I tried feeding it to my pets, but found it was hard to break into smaller pieces and they are just too big for my cat's mouth. I decided to give the company a call to let them know that the product I received was NOT their normal product. I have to say this company has THE BESTS customer service I have received in a LONG, long time. I called after hours and received a call back first thing the next morning from Jennifer. She was very pleasant, concerned and appreciative of my call to let them know about my experience. She asked me for the manufacture date on the package, which confirmed a "bad batch" (my words). I will continue to pay a little more to get a GREAT treat for my pets!! All I have to do is open the bag, and they come running! Thank you, Whole Life, for making this product.
