Really interesting book
A lot of very interesting facts about his life and background. Very well researched and reveals much about his character and the forces which drove him. Doesn’t pull punches about the darker side of his life and the ways in which he used people.

The initial part of the book dealing with the inter war years, and the establishment of Ferrari as a company, is well written and interesting. It seems to rush over everything after 1970 though. There are also things mentioned early on that don't quite segue with the current established narrative, the initial source of racing funds for one. That said, it was a good read and provided good background to Enzo Ferrari both good, and bad.

Not only a car book, very interesting
I like getting a frank and quite objective view of Ferrari's life: personal life and the resourceful owner of the company car. A lot of details for anybody loving the car industry.

Comprehensive account of Enzo Ferrari's life and work
This is a detailed and comprehensive account of Ferrari's life from his early days racing Alfa Romeos through to his death after the Fiat take-over of his company. The author takes a commendably unalloyed view of Enzo Ferrari, his successes and failures and offers a meticulous account of each technical development that supported the evolution of the cars. The book also carries a useful post-script updating the story from after Ferrari's death. I have awarded 4 stars because there are no illustrations, photos or maps so unless you have an encyclopedic knowledge of the cars, or know the layout of Maranello you'll find yourself looking at other sources for the full picture. Nevertheless the text alone makes this book a must for anyone interested in the man and his machines.

Delightfully written. If you have an interest in the hystory of the automobile industry (not only Ferrari), this book is a joy to read. Remarcable.

Hot Red Cars!
For me, this was a fascinating read! I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Getting to know Enzo Ferrari at a deeper level, to see what drove him and his drivers, and to learn about early racing in particular when automakers were first starting out, captivating. This book is well written, and I think brings out the essence of what made and drove the man. There are some great classic photos in the book as well.
