Works well
The software is a bit awkward, but the device is of great quality, and in combination with the one-touch button one can scan books, magazines, and all kinds of unevenly formed logbooks etc. very fast, and best of all can produce indexed (searchable) PDFs and ePubs.I had to put it on a thick book to capture bigger documents, but then it still works fine.I also like that it supports video (even PIP) in order to create demonstration footage!Overall a great allrounder scanner we're very happy to have. Only the software should be a bit more modern.

Good quality images, Spanish OCR works fine, fast.
It would be nice to have more control on the image parameters (sharpness, brightness, color, etc.), but I am quite satisfied with the image quality I got playing with the lights and the software options.I am happy. The images I attach are from a book for kids printed in 1959 and currently out of print. The OCR worked fine and all tasks were executed in a very short time.

Proceed with caution, but... proceed.
I really wanted to love this product, with its great industrial design. I've also heard horrible things about CZUR scanners sending the contents of your hard drive back to China, so I was stoked for an alternative. In the end I feel this is pretty good -- but prepare do a good amount of cleanup to get useable results. Luckily the included software, while buggy, allows you to do that cleanup pretty effectively.I spent about 4 hours scanning a book. In its effort to "hide your fingers," about 5% of the time, it puts a large white (in B&W) or gray (in greyscale or color mode) over the page, obscuring text. As you can see from my uploaded shots, even if your fingers are in the same position (in the upper right hand corner you can see a thumbnail of the original image) sometimes it doesn't obscure the text, sometimes it does. This can be fixed by going in and editing the picture, but the software has some bugs. If you turn off "hide fingers" you can fix one page, but now the software thinks "don't hide fingers" was the default and it won't let you fix another page because you can no longer choose to "unhide fingers" since it thinks it was selected. (This sounds confusing and it is, but once you are in the software you can figure it out). The solution most times is to simply delete the curve points (where the software is trying to find the edge of the page) needed to crop your finger out, and then choose "don't hide fingers." The curve editing to draw the "outline" of the page is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.Some elements of the program are great, like auto-sensing when you've turned a page. However, this also has bugs and sometimes it will take the picture before the count-down is own, resulting in the camera snapping while your hands are still over the pages. Just do a do-over and later delete the page with the error. You can see these errors happen in the thumbnails, but there's no way to enlarge them, so frequently it will obscure text but you won't be able to tell from the thumbnail and will have to open the preview images, check every page, and then fix the errors. I wish it was more seamless, but that may be an AI bridge too far at this point. Luckily you can get very solid results once you do fix the pages with glitches, and you don't need to rescan usually.Max output is 300dpi. The B&W output looks eerily like the third generation photocopies I remember from "reader" books in college, but I find it more legible than the gray-scale or color scans which I found had too many artifacts for my tastes (still better than my friend's CZUR scans, to be honest). The OCR is surprisingly good, even on janky pages. Much better than the CZUR scan I received from a friend.Bottom line: You can get a result from this, but it is not totally effortless as the marketing materials claim. I hope that Iris fixes the bugs, and introduces a new version in the future. At the end of the day this is very nice elegant industrial design but understand you are going to spend some time to get good results.

Perfect
I run a small online business selling sports cards. It's been really difficult finding a scanner that will scan a clear picture. I bought 2 different scanners that both did not have a clear picture. If you know anything about sports cards, there is always a lot of text on the back of each card. Regular scanners would produce a blurry picture and potential customers would email me asking for a better picture. This felt really unprofessional. I came across this one and thought wow ive never seen a scanner like this! I ended up buying another scanner and returned it less than a week later. I ended up pulling the trigger on this one and im absolutely kicking myself because it wasnt the first one i bought. I love this so much!! It doesnt really "scan" an image, it takes a picture of it. The features allow you to scan really fast (and in preset intervals if you'd like), it comes with a button (my favorite, you dont have to use the actual app to press scan each time, just push the button and move onto the next item youre scanning), a black mat with indicators for placement, and so many other cool features. If youre needing a really good scanner, choose this one!

Disappointed
I was disappointed in this product. It didn't work for what I wanted to use it for so I returned it. The software was to cumbersome. It could use some work on making more user friendly. The camera quality is subpar. I believe it could be so much better, really don't see the reason for such poor quality in this day and age. Not worth the cost for what you get. This product could be so much better and be really handy. I bought to take with me on a trip to take pictures of pictures which would of worked great if the camera quality was better. It would traveled well in my suitcase. I really hope the company makes improvements on this product.

Fast, convinient to scan books
I bought the Iriscan Book Scanner to scan some books to make PDF files and I love it. It scans fast, and at the end, it makes a PDF file for the whole books in seconds.

Could be better software and picture quality
I ordered both this and the CZUR Ultra. The quality of the scans and the software was better with the CZUR but the quality of the build was better with the Iris. If I had to pick one though it would be this CZUR. Although for what I need to do and how often I need to do it, I'm better off just using my phone and scan software.

Great Scanner
I got tired of trying to scan things from a book on a flatbed scanner and got one of these. I'm delighted with it, although the built-in lighting could be better, I still recommend it. I would give it 5 stars if the led lighting was adjustable.
