I haven't found this locally since I moved to the Midwest from California, so I was excited when I found it on Amazon. I ordered a stick and, much to my surprise, I got a plastic bag filled with a greasy slimy hunk of "something" that neither looked nor tasted anything like what I remembered. Gone was the paper packaging with the Salami encased in the sheath within which it was aged. A true tragedy. It was like going to a coffee house for a latte and getting served Instant coffee. Why do these huge conglomerates allow bean counters to destroy a great product, replacing it with garbage? I will not buy this ever again. Pathetic excuse for the great character filled traditional food item it once was!

I think what makes or breaks this product is the temp outside when it's delivered. And yes other reviews placed well before this one also mention that. I should have listened, but didn't. I absolutely love this brand of salami. In fact it's the only brand I'll buy anymore. The flavor, consistency, everything about it is perfect and I've never had another brand that even came close. It was supposed to be cooled off here (I assumed for the year) when I ordered but the weather forecast thing changed the very next day. Was in the mail truck for one full day at near-90 F heat. Got it around 9AM the next morning so not that bad all in all. But it definitely did detract. It sat in the fridge all day after it got here. I finally opened in around 10 hours later, to find it was a little soft, and fat had leaked out all over it. Still 2 months to expiration so I figured I wouldn't die by tasting it a little, so cut some pieces off. This chub did not have the white wrapper, which I very much miss. Was a little difficult to cut, being soft, and the chunks of fat in it kept getting stuck on the knife with the end result of every cut piece being covered in chunks of fat. Some of you may not mind that but I really don't like fat, so, eh. I gotta say though, it tasted fine, if a little soft. The taste honestly makes up for almost everything. Just, next time I'm definitely waiting for winter to have it shipped.

Our favorite though I miss the traditional skin. The flavor is changed but it is still the best salami. The salami arrived in without a problem and I was pleased with the early delivery. Thank you!

I Was kind of disappointed it wasn’t covered with the white wrap. The taste wasn’t the same. Ordered from Texas and I Don’t know if I would buy it again.
