It's a pretty good vise for the money. I purchased the 4" variety which works well with my smaller mill. The slot keys are accurate enough to fit well with the bottom of the vise. They were a bit too big for the slots in my Grizzly mill, but it was easy enough to machine those portions of the edges to fit. I think the excess was a bit of a plus as I could closely fit the keys to my mill table slots. The surfaces that count appear to be true and well made: the vise works quite well. Only thing odd is that the nuts for the table clamp T-bolts were either poorly made or they were going for a self retaining nut that wouldn't loosen. I'm guessing the later but I'm not as much a fan of that approach when lock washers are readily available. Overall, a great buy.

Unit was better than I expected. It does have the typical Chinese manufacturing tricks. Only grind the surfaces that can be seen and just make it look good. Cover up the crappy machining and fit, BUT it does make for a good starting point. With a bit or real grinding to get things flat, square and parallel it came out pretty decent. I expect this when I buy a cheap vise or other machine items made in China. I have also learned that if it is made in India, don't waste your time/ Usually so far out of whack that there is no way to save it.

This a great vise for the money. The only problem I had was the hold down bolts for the angle base were a little too long and would not allow the vise to rotate on the base. I just ground the length of the bolts down. Works great.

All i can say is for the money you wont find anything better, Very heavy (80lbs) seems well built the scale is well etched and readable, lead screw is tight and where jaws come together you cant even see a line, as far as i can check it is straight level square ?. This is the 6 x 7.5 lengthen mill vise, if you buy this and you are not happy then nothing makes you happy.

Tight vice, fits okay on a smithy XL2520 multi lathe. I am pleased with purchase.

I got this for my Bridgeport milling machine. I was unsure of the quality but I ordered it anyway. It's heavy, the casting was ok. The moveable jaw mine had a ding in the top that doesn't affect function. I disassembled it and mapped on my surface plate, it was only out about . 001 at one corner, otherwise the top and bottom are parallel. I scraped the bottom perfectly flat and then scraped one top corner down and all is good. I did tap the fixed jaw holes deeper and replaced the Chinese bolts with longer American ones, the removable jaws are very hard, I milled little steps in the top region of the jaws with a carbide dovetail cutter and now I can clamp stuff up there without parallels. I use the steps more than anything. It's a good vise for the money, but it's no Kurt. Oh yeah I milled the 45 degree v that pulls the jaw down so it was flatter and that helped too. I look at stuff like this as more of a vise kit than a finished ready to use vise. If your a home shop guy and have time to blueprint and finish this vise, then it's a good deal for you. It can be made into a very accurate, very decent vise. Better than most of the Chinese milling vises that come with rotary base. If you don't want to fine tune it and expect it to be perfect out of the box then you need to buy a Kurt vise, not this. It's a good vise kit, replace some bolts with better longer ones, fine tune it for your usage and it's a pretty good bargain. Especially if you don't have the money for a new Kurt and live in an area where used Kurt's are rare to non-existent like me.

Yes, but for my CNC, I would get the 3 inch one. I thought that 4 inches was better than 3, and serve me long term, but this will take away from some of my Z axis. I also took off the base, but I think the base would help those that need to rotate their parts. However, the cost difference between the two was a couple of dollars, so I got this one. Holy cow, this thing holds things tightly while the CNC is moving, and that's what (I assume) you're buying this for.

This vise is great. I've bought two for my drill presses. I also use it in my small mill. It's quite sturdy for the price. Overall, quite happy with it.
