Roadpro RP-452 Small Self-Extinguishing Ashtray - Black

Got this to replace my old ash tray that had fallen out of the car one too many times. It works. It hangs on the window so I can easily use it while driving. It holds ashes and cigarette butts. It's not huge, so you are going to have to empty it fairly often. On the other hand, it doesn't get in my way. It's about the same size as my old one, so I'm happy with it.

This little ashtray works really well. Fits and stays perfectly into the car window opening. Since ashing out of a car window can get you pulled over and given a ticket, this little window ashtray is an absolute must for those who smoke and drive.

Wow I never knew these were available until a friend of mine had one. Totally makes sense it makes safer to use it on window than trying to reach safely to regular ashtray. I ordered several to not be caught if they become unavailable. Fits my Chevy Equinox window perfect and it is secure. Great item.

I got one of these ashtrays 6 months ago and yesterday I finally broke its lip! So I am going to order a new one. That's absolutely the best I can get to have me smoking in my car as clean as possible!Pros:+ It installs easily by the side window. So:+ * Almost all the smoke goes outside, in compare to the ashtrays you have to put in the middle of your car.+ * It doesn't distract you when driving. You can keep your eye sight straight and then point your cigarette to it.Cons:- It is not a match for cigars. Only cigarettes. And the small dents on sides are too small to hold your cigarette by itself; unless you don't care to push harder and have your cigarette butt shaped rectangular.- You have to first extinguish your cigarette first (by pushing to the top surface, next to the hole), and then throw it inside. Otherwise it will continue burning and burn other cigarette butts in, and consequently the nasty odor will come out of the hole!Hints:+ As another reviewer has mentioned: Shake it! Shake it! [when you are done, to have ash goes in and butts not block the hole]+ Do not pull your windows down to bottom or the wind will blow the ash into the car.+ If you are sensitive to the odor, you have to clean it frequently. I do this job every week and to keep the odor inside, whenever I park my car, I clog the hole with a soft tissue (pushed!) so that the odor of dead cigarettes inside will not come up!+ Still, if you are even more sensitive and want to keep it clean, you can get some aluminum foil and cover inside of the tube with it every time you clean it in your gas station. It will prevent cigarettes from touching the plastic area inside and you can just grab and smash the aluminum cover!+ Extremely sensitive? Get one odor remover / fresh air sprays and spray on top and through the hole every time you clean it! You can get one at dollar tree for $1 and use it for many months to fight with the odor!

Came broken, and it was broke before shipping because broken piece was not in it. It also means seller knew. Called and was told a replacement would be sent. It never came.

These work very well. I don't smoke,but Hubby does. This keeps my car clean from ash and smell. He doesn't have to crack a window open to keep flicking his ash out the window. And make a mess on my glass. I was always afraid of and ash going to the back seat or floor and burning something. This was the BEST THING I could of gotten. It made our road trip much happier for the SMOKER and the NON-SMOKER. : ) !!!!

For us social lepers known as smokers, this seemed like a godsend. Automobiles are no longer equipped with ashtrays, so smokers have a choice of tossing cigarettes out the window - which is an absolute no-no - or doing without, which can make for nervous drivers. This little gadget makes a wonderful ashtray, it fits perfectly in cup holders in the car, it is very handy and easy to use and clean - HOWEVER, do not ever leave it in the car overnight, or with the windows closed. These things have a stink to them that is just horrible. It is some sort of rotten plastic smell and it just permeates the car. We opened the car door the next morning and the smell was horrendous. I have washed it out with bleach, Pine-Sol, Fabreze, ammonia and hydrogen peroxide and that smell will not go away. It is much worse when exposed to heat or sunlight. It really is a great idea, and does all it says, but remove it when you leave the car.

I smoke a lot hanging out my screen door. A few puffs here and I'd put it out and leave it on the rail. Worked but would get ash everywhere pretty quick. Had been looking for an ashtray that would slot onto a standard sized rail, but no such item exists (there is money to be made there). Found this and figured it might do the trick. Ultimately it won't hang on the rail, so a little black duct tape was needed. In the end it does the job, but not what it was intended for. 😉
