Columbia Sportswear Women's Powder Summit Jacket

Use: winter wear in the city and snow-based activities/sports (coldest temperature tested -15 ºC, ~ 0 ºF)Pros: warm, water resistant, practical, and looks goodCons: only minor complaint (see below)When the coat arrived, it was stiff and completely flat. I immediately thought that I would return it. I hung it on the coat rack because I was in a hurry. A few days went by, and I tried it on again. It was less stiff, and it was very faltering for a snow coat. I decided to test it out in the snow, and I am so glad that I did. This coat is warm, looks great, and wears well. I now wear it around the city because it looks good for even causal wear. There are two things that I would change if I could. This coat should have an arm-pocket and the draw strings for the hood form loops that come near my face when I tighten the hood. I would still buy this coat a thousand times over, and I would recommend it to anyone. One last note is that Columbia always makes vanity sizes, so if you are used to clothing sizes from higher-end designs or outside of the US, order down a size. This jacket fits as expected for Columbia wear!

I am in the process of moving from Southern California to Northern Nevada - in the winter. Suddenly I need winter clothing - like REAL winter clothing. After admiring a Nevada friend's Columbia jacket, I started looking for one for myself. This fills the bill in every way - it is a great length - over the butt, but not so long that you look stubby, and because of the down combo lining is it not a super puffy jacket. Only two things to note - I was able to try on my friends jacket, so I knew to order a med - normally in a jacket I would have ordered a small. I am 125-130 lbs and 5ft 5in with a 36 bust. The Med is a tiny bit large, but well sized for layering - like in the -15 degree cold we had last week! The only other point is the collar - it is lined with a nice microfiber which is soft & smooth against my face when I close it all up with the hood up. But a fleece or fur here would have been a nice touch. However, that brings me to my last point - this is a terrific bargain - I am VERY pleased with the price!

The jacket was packed and shipped beautifully. It arrived on time.I LOVE this jacket. I'm 5'7" and 39" around at the bust. The Large fits perfectly and I have enough room to layer a medium weight sweater underneath. I love the fit, it has a feminine shape and the hood is awesome. Two small pockets are located on either side of the interior of the jacket. There is a large mesh pocked near the hip. The sleeves are long enough so I can hide my hands up in them if I need to.My only complaint is the tightening elastic for the hood. If you tighten the hood you end up with a loop of thin black elastic right at eye level. It is annoying but not a dealbreaker.I had tried on a North Face jacket, some LL Bean, and a Land's End Squall Parka. This Columbia was the only one that felt warm enough and had a beautiful fit, color I liked, excellent construction.

it is one of the best coats i've ever purchased for snowy/cold/icy weather! it worked well on our hike day and through our annual snowball fight, i didn't feel a hint of cold and even had to take the hood off to get some cool air. the real test came on day 3, we went tubing down hills on a day we expected snow but got rain/sleet instead. we went tubing in the light rain and both my daughter and i were bone dry afterwards and had a blast. this jacket is (1) lightweight, you do not feel heavy or bulk in this. (2) actually slimming, i was complemented over and over on how well it fit and how it did not give you the big "marshmallow" effect. (3) it's cold, snow & rain proof! i LOVE the snowy mountains but even more so HATE being cold so you made my trip most comfortable and pleasant! thank you so much. i will definitely buy with this company again.

I bought this coat just in time for the brutal cold weather we've been having 2013/2014. It's perfect. Lightweight, warm, fashionable and tailors well. You don't look like the Michelin Man (which no woman wants to do). During hte colder weather I wore a lightweight fleece underneath and I needed nothing else (well except for hat and gloves). Highly recommend it. The hood is great. Windproof and keeps your ears warm when that cold wind is blowing. buy, buy, buy.

This jacket is going to be perfect for our Christmas trip to Utah! The fit and size are on point so if you're looking to later, I suggest going up one size, although you really only need a pair of long johns under this jacket! I bought the pants too and they're equally as nice!

My wife loves this coat. All winter long she told me how warm she was in her "tin foil coat" as she calls it.. This last winter in Chicago was one of the worst on record... She was so warm that I ended up ordering a mens columbia "tin foil" coat myself.

I'm 5'10" and the cost wasn't too short (north face never fit long enough for me). It was a great overall fit in the shoulders and arm length as well. My only wish was that it had larger zipper pockets in the inside. Otherwise, I'm glad I found this coat!
