I use this fan is my office and it's the perfect size for my desk. Works great, quiet - good value.

I bought this to primarily use it for sleeping and it does the job. It is much quieter than my other heavier duty fan. Its decently powerful for the size and has a timer and swivel feature. This fan is good for sleeping and for a light breeze.

So face it folks there will never truly be a quiet fan as long as there is fluid-dynamics and acoustics. Those two are the reasons why fan blades will always make noise when moving through the air. First off the price is pretty reasonable for a good little fan like this. It actually does what it is implied it will do. Move a decent amount of air at a reduced noise level. While not whisper quite. The high setting is about as loud as my Toyota's a car windshield defroster fan set on the first speed setting. The low setting is about as loud as any white noise making sleep aid set on normal volume. Yes it's totally true. It is just a small fan, like the ones used to cool a computer, and the rest is about 60% plastic housing. But hey that's Amazon's shipping theory, 40% product, 60% packing. But I digress. Another contributing factor to fan noise is how much air flow interference does the fan housing cause. This model has a small fan with a whole lot of grill work around it. They could have made the "mini-monolith" a bit smaller but it is possible the size allows better air flow. The different speed settings are relabeled as "White Noise" - low, "Refresh" - medium, and "Power Cool" - High. "Sleep" appears to be just a little bit slower than "White Noise" so it does help reduce the sound signature. It does have some nice features like: - Separate power and speed selection button. Your current speed stays the same when you power on and off. - Lighted speed indicator that shows what speed is currently selected. Plus the indicator light is self dimming so when it's on indicating the selected setting, like "Sleep", there isn't a disturbing amount of light. - Timer with a lighted selection indicator. Shows the numerals 2, 4, 8. That is the amount of hours it will stay on before shutting down. - Oscillation setting. Allows it to rotate to cover a area. The entire upper fan housing rotates on the base. It is a clever design that you couldn't tell was there because the fit of the base to the housing is done quite well. Now I have not had this happen to me but some folks are complaining that it tips over easy and when it strikes the floor the fan blades break. Yes, it is true the fan housing is rigid so when the fan hits the floor the blades shift and impact the housing. This is typically true of these small fans as they are built with tight tolerances between the blades and housing. However I can testify that I have my fan on a side table. The one cat we have likes to rub the side of her face on it and will butt her head against. It will lean a bit when this happens but it always comes back to rest on it's base in a upright manner. I've had one of these at work for about eighteen months, and I absolutely love it there. Moves just enough air to keep me comfortable without blowing papers off my desk. I finally saw it on sale back in March and bought one for my bedside as I'm tired of cooling a seven room house with the AC just to be able to sleep in the one room I'm in. As a nighttime fan, I'm not quite as impressed as the baffle fins can't be adjusted, and it blows mostly straight out and slightly upwards, which I never noticed as my desk surface is well below my core, so the air goes right where it needs to. With my nightstand being above my head when I'm lying down, most of the stream blows uselessly above me. Not really the fan's fault, so I'm not knocking off a star, but I definitely noticed the difference quickly, and have to run it a setting higher which means slightly more noise. The other issue is the LEDs. Whoever designed a bedside fan (it has a "sleep" setting and shutoff timer, so I know they had that in mind) with intensely bright blue LEDs should be slapped. It was keeping me awake if I faced it. Thankfully, I'm handy with a screwdriver (a torx security bit set is needed, but cheaply acquired if you don't already have one like I did) and it wasn't difficult to disassemble enough to extract the board for a little modification. To start, I covered the LEDs with a thick layer of orange sharpie to cut down on the blue spectrum, but eventually, I'll probably desolder them all and replace with amber LEDs instead as the light indicators are now almost too dim to see in anything but complete darkness (not unexpected). Not sure how well that will work as the control panel also has blue-colored plastic windows, so I've no idea how much amber light will get through. Might try just one to start to see what happens first. I really wish this thing had amber LEDs to begin with to save a whole lot of trouble. If you decide to modify one for yourself, it would be a decent beginner project as it runs on low-voltage DC (its powered by a 12V 1A wall adapter) and everything is modular as far as the electrical parts. Just lay down a paper towel or something as they greased the crap out of the oscillation mechanism with an overly ample amount of petroleum jelly and if you're not somewhat careful, it might get messy. Everything that needs to be disassembled to get to the board is above that, so its not a major issue unless you drop a screw right into a grease blob like I did. Overall, it's worth the price. I bought the first for about twenty five bucks, and just picked up another for my home office because its on sale for twenty. Four and a half stars (for the LEDs), rounded up to five.

Perfect for single person! Needed a small fan I could direct on myself and not bother my husband when I got my hot flashes. This is perfect. Different levels and not too noisy. In addition it has a relatively small footprint. Love it

My mother wanted a fan that was small and powerful and this one fit the order. It is a nice sturdy, small fan that oscillates and put out a good amount of air. It can be used on various low to high speeds and it can oscillate or not. It is easy to use and no installation is necessary. It has a nice sleek look and it's size is not imposing when used on a table top.

This fan is a decent "little" fan, with "little" being the operative word. Currently, I'm using this fan to supplement a more powerful fan in my small bedroom, and in that capacity, it performs adequately. However, if you're hoping for this fan to single-handedly combat a stuffy room, you'll likely be disappointed. Even when cranked up to its maximum speed, the airflow is quite limited. From a distance of about six feet, you can barely feel any breeze at all. This really underscores its role as a personal fan. Ultimately, this fan excels as a "good little desk fan." It's perfect for placing directly on your workspace to provide a gentle, localized breeze, or perhaps on a nightstand for a bit of personal comfort while sleeping. Just don't expect it to cool down an entire room on its own. If you need significant air movement or a fan to reduce the overall temperature of a space, you'll need to look for a more powerful and larger alternative.

I bought this fan for my office because menopause apparently decided I should experience all four seasons before lunch. This little fan has become my workplace bestie. Quiet, effective, and always there when a hot flash tries to take me out. Five stars for helping me keep my cool—literally.

Not strong enough for the price and it’s noisy. I will have to return it.

Not worth the wait nor the money. Jist noisy like a regular fan. Disappointed.

It delivers what it promises , quite , and good breeze

This one does what it says. I use the sleep setting at night and I like it quite silent while sleeping and the sleep setting does not disturb at all. I sleep like a baby. I've tried the powercool as well during the day and works equally well. This should be a good buy for a table fan.
