This unit requires at least 24" clear all the way around it above the opening to lift the lid straight up.My roof was too close to the ceiling.Nothing in the literature makes that clear and the owner of battic door wouldn't refund my money in full.Because he threw in free shipping, he wanted to deduct the shipping from a refund and he wanted to make me pay shipping to return it. I would have been out $150 . Instead, I'm stuck trying to sell mine at a loss in order to match his online price.
