Product Description Funnier and wittier than ever before, Creature Comforts returns for a second series of the highly acclaimed animation from Nick Park and Aardman. CREATURE COMFORTS is a brilliant and hilarious claymation series about the lives of animals as told by the animals themselves. Unscripted and unashamedly funny, the British public once again speaks through the mouths of their plasticine counterparts. Interviews with these lovable claymation creatures leave no stone unturned, no tree unclimbed, no sea uncrossed in the quest to discover what our fine-finned, furred and feathered friends really think about the issues that are closest to their hearts. Join the return of some favorite characters including Trixie and Captain Cuddlepuss, the Dog and Cat, Fluffy the Hampster and Clement the Bloodhound. .com Like everything else from the geniuses at Aardman Animations, the second season of Creature Comforts is absolutely brilliant. As conceived by Oscar®-winning Creature Comforts animator Nick Park (of Wallace and Gromit fame), the premise of this limited series is deceptively simple, but when you add the Aardman magic, it evolves into something utterly sublime: an endlessly clever and intimately revealing portrait of contemporary British society, originating as live recordings of "the great British public" then transformed through Aardman animation into a menagerie of talking animals, each bursting with humor, insight, and a rich variety of slapstick gags and memorable expressions. It's a rare kind of creative alchemy that takes place before our eyes: From original voice recordings to the finished product, each nine-minute episode is a masterpiece of anthropomorphic ingenuity, introducing us to a colorful cast of critters that reflect their real-life human counterparts as well as the cleverness of the animators themselves. Think of it as an inter-species exchange program, where chatty old ladies in a retirement home are transformed into chatty old bats dangling from a rafter, or a pair of buddies in their early 30s turn into witty slugs with a knack for whistling and making faces. The perfectionism that has become Aardman's trademark is evident throughout these 12 hilarious episodes, each devoted to a single topic (Impressions, Sport, Monarchy Business, Communication, Self-Image, etc.) and animated in plasticene to emphasize wildly inventive visual translations of everyday conversation. The "casting" is flawless, comedic timing is impeccable, and abundant bits of throwaway business ensure that you'll see something new with every viewing. Meticulously crafted sets, props, and backdrops complete the illusion, and the final result is artistry of the highest order, combined with a heartwarming humanism that's both universally appealing and quintessentially British. For everyone involved, Creature Comforts guarantees a delightful kind of immortality, and the rest of us get to share in the fun. This two-disc set also includes the acclaimed Aardman holiday short Merry Christmas Everybody!, and disc 2 includes a wealth of behind-the-scenes features delving into all aspects of Aardman's arduous animation process. There's a "making of Season 2" featurette covering the overall production process; "The People Behind the Puppets" shows how the British interviewees are matched with their animated animal counterparts; and "Animated Conversations" follows several animators as they struggle with the painstaking process of matching their creatures' mouth-movements with pre-recorded dialogue. Also included is "The Countryside Code," an Aardman-animated public service ecology commercial promoting preservation of the British countryside. --Jeff Shannon

If you liked the first season then you will like this one as well
I love this series! The animals are hilarious, and The Great British Public who provide the wry, grumpy, hilarious, and thoughtful voices for the animals are a real hit as always. The DVD contains all the episodes in the second season on one disc, plus the special Merry Christmas Everybody on a second disc. This season was not quite as funny and charming as season one, but it still gets five stars because it is head and shoulders above most other DVD's. My boyfriend and I laughed all the way through, and both of us agreed that we would like to keep this in our permanent collection for rewatching (and rewatching soon!).I would think this series is much more suitable for adults than children, just because you need to concentrate to understand the accents, and the humor is often more subtle or dry than children like. But I didn't hear anything that would really be unsafe for children's ears, I just don't think they'd like it as much as adults would.

Creature Comforts Season 2 (UK)
Very very enjoyable!!! It was hilarious!!! I thought this was great. As an American, I had a bit of trouble with the UK accents (two peoples, divided by a common language), the second time I watched it, my ear became "better trained". I have ordered Season 1, and I'm still waiting for it! I ordered the American Series also, and almost split my sides laughing. Season Two (UK) was very funny, I liked the fact that the Christmas Special was included and the bonus features showed some of the people interviewed for the programs, the actual people. All in all, it was well worth the price paid,(which was quite inexpensive) I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good laugh!!! 5 stars!!!

Excellent, laborious animation appreciated by all!
My Grandson, going on 10 years old, loves, loves, loves, animated films and the process it takes to attain these spectacular results. We have a great bond in enjoying claymation and animation. In fact, we have a 3D television to better enjoy any 3D movies at home as well. I think my Grandson will one day be involved these processes when he grows up. He follows everything that Nick Park, Aardman, Pixar, etc... put out. I sincerely love every minutes of these as well.Sandra Knoxand Hunter Crawford

A different tenor than the first season
As a fan of the Nick Park's style of claymation, I gave this product four stars. But the second season of Creature Comforts is not as universally accessible as the first. For starters, there is greater use of harder to understand British accents (Yorkshire, the urban youth talk, heavy Scottish, etc), which is fine for BBC afficiandos such as myself, but others, especially children, may find it a bit difficult to sort through the sounds to hear what the interviewees are saying. Keeping in mind that this series is made in the UK, the references to pop culture on that side of the ocean may be more obscure & the humor more elusive to neophytes. The material as well seems a bit mature for younger audiences. Parents may wish to screen the episodes before watching them with their children. It's strictly PG+, not quite racy enough to be PG13, but a bit more advanced than some may feel comfortable with (think the juicier bits of "Were Rabbit").But the quality of animation remains strong. The little details which we all love - the background characters moving in response to what the interviewees are saying - are up to the standard of excellence which we expect from an Ardman product. And the humor is still there, enjoyable for those who appreciate British style & wit.As was previously noted, this set contains the separately sold Christmas special - which is a very fun episode, indeed, but not worth buying twice. So, if you're a Nick Park fan, this is for you. But the newbie may be put off by difficult accents & unfamiliar subjects.

This video was really a treat,,had seen a FEW of these things, before, but, was great to find them all on one disc. One of the funniest, cleverest things, I have ever seen,,and has some great, extras, on it, about how they do it, etcetera,,and showing, the REAL people, whose voices are used,,,very enjoyable, I will be sharing it, and watching it again, several times, I think. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!

Not Aardman's finest work. . .
After purchasing all of the "Wallace And Gromit" movies, all of the "Shaun The Sheep movies," and "Chicken Run", et al., I was completely unprepared for the blasé presentation in the two "Creature Comfort" movies I bought. Of all the situations that were presented, I do not recall ever being moved to laughter. Albeit I am 71 years old, I think I still have the good sense to laugh when I am provoked to do so. Put your money into the Shaun flock instead.
