Best 12 gauge speaker wire for your money
I was setting up a home theater in the basement and needed good speaker wire. Initially I was planning to go with the RCA brand 14 gauge speaker wire that is a top seller on Amazon, however, on reading the reviews I realized that it was probably not copper, so I kept looking. Strangely, this fantastic Monoprice wire does not show up on the first page when you search for '12 gauge speaker wire', so most people will miss it. Search specifically for 'Monoprice 12 gauge speaker wire' and you should find this. Anyway, it was shipped from CA to PA by UPS Ground by Monoprice. It didn't qualify for Amazon Prime and took a good 5 business days. That was frustrating because all my home theater equipment had already arrived in two days via Amazon Prime. Keep that in mind before ordering. The packaging was a little inferior, the spool is cardboard that wears pretty easily. However, the wire itself is top notch and was wrapped in plastic rather well. I used the following tool that was well suited for the speaker wire: Irwin Industrial Tools 2078317 7-Inch Multi Tool Stripper, Cutter and Crimper with ProTouch Grips The wire is heavy duty and well suited for a home theater setup involving large speakers, floor standing & center channel. My speakers (Polk Audio TSi400 - Front L&R, Polk Audio CS20 - Center, Polk Audio OWM3 - Surround) have now been infused with power (from the Denon AVR-1913) with this speaker wire. I can now hear frequencies that I had never heard before from my older home theater setup (Harman Kardon receiver & JBL speakers) in another room, connected using Monster speaker wire costing thrice as much as this wire. I will strongly recommend this speaker wire to anyone looking for awesome sound from their home theater system and those looking for terrific value.

An audiophile's view on 3 wire brands: Pyle, Monster and Monoprice
This wire is exactly what you expect. Many emerging speaker wire products in the past couple years have started to skimp by coloring aluminum or burying aluminum inside an outside ring of copper, or marketing a product with a larger gauge than it actually is. Lately, it has become hard to find a cost effective option for speaker wire that is actually what it says it is. I trust monoprice because they give quality products and they dont try to skimp or cheat you out of what you think you are buying. Monoprice also doesn't overcharge by elating their product to more than it is by advertising. So a comparison of wire that I have bought: I have bought 50ft of 12 gauge speaker wire from Monster, Pyle, and Monoprice. Pyle speaker wire is by far the worst. Pyle "12 gauge" wire had maybe 30% less metal than what 12 gauge should be. I also suspect colored aluminum, although I am not sure about that. I also only received about 40 ft. Its amazing how much smaller the Pyle spool is than other spools. $15. I guess you get what you pay for. Monster speaker wire has great conductivity, and my speakers sound clear with good response in the full range of tones. The gauge is what it says it is and the coating in nice. My two complaints are it is overpriced (I got mine for $40 at BestBuy, but buying at BestBuy might be the issue) and my other small complaint is that one of the two wires has really light white writing on one of the tubing. Sometime it would be useful if it was more noticeable. There is also a small plastic tube on the inside of the wire, which takes away from the gauge of the wire. But overall a good product. I would definitely buy monster wire if it were competitively priced with Monoprice wire. Finally, Monoprice speaker wire has extremely pure copper, and oxygen free copper, which will allow for long term use of this wire. It also is as long and as thick as it is advertised to be. The Monoprice wire is definitely the best. There is also a big red strip running along one of the tubings to indicate a positive wire which is a nice feature. The metal of the Monoprice wire seems to be the most malleable as well. Overall great wire, for only $22

Ordered from Amazon and am Very Satisfied!
I was nervous initially purchasing this cable because I read a couple of reviews stating that they did not receive the correct product. I can confirm that if you order from Amazon (or directly from Monoprice) you will not be disappointed. I ordered from Amazon and received exactly what is described above, Monoprice brand 12AWG Copper Speaker Cable. It is very high quality, easy to work with cable and the price is very competitive. I did not see a single strand of Copper Clad Aluminum while I was cutting two 10 foot sections of this cable to connect my Polk Audio Monitor 30 Series ii speakers to my Yamaha RX-V371 receiver. I had no problems cutting the wire or stripping the insulation off at the ends with some basic wire cutters. The cables are actually extremely flexible and easy to work with. I recently bought my set-up second hand and it came with several short (approx. 3 feet) 8AWG cables. They appear to be copper as well and I can say that I did not notice a difference at all in sound quality moving from the thicker 8AWG cables to the thinner Monoprice 12AWG cables. The 12AWG cables were much easier to work with and actually have a much better connection because the 8AWG cables were too thick to fit in the binding posts properly. If there is any difference in sound quality at all, I feel like the 12AWG cables would sound better due to the better connection at the binding posts. I also purchased some Sewell Deadbolt Banana Plugs and the Monoprice 12AWG cables worked flawlessly with them. I would highly recommend this cable to anyone looking for high quality copper cable!

I've been buying from Monoprice for many years now and it came as no surprise that this is a quality product. Its quite thick and sounds great. Ran this wire to a 2nd zone which is about 50FT away so it was exactly what I needed. Speakers sound great. This can't be beat in my opinion. Do yourself and your speakers a favour and buy quality wire.

Exactly as described -- excellent value. Stranded copper conductors with a clear stripe marked on one, and a decently flexible insulation that's straightforward to strip.

I m using my Yamaha htr 3670 receiver with nsp 20 home theater package. Believe me guys these wire has enriched my home theatre sound to next level and audio is loud enough than the original Yamaha cables. Over all satisfied with product and sound output. Understood how wires plays important role in delivering the quality of sound even we have best amplifier and speakers I would recommend this cable if u want decent amount of bass and sound at reasonable price.

i used 15 meters for each speaker, no problems at all. sound is excellent and way better than my old cable, more crisp. 12AWG is worth it especially for more than 10 meters.

True to its name, these wires are old school audio cables and a must have for any hi fi freak like me. I used them to connect my Denon PMA 520 with Q Acoustics 2020 speakers and I am quite happy with the results. Only thing that leaves me wanting is directional markings on the sleeve so that you can go ahead and connect the cable without having to experiment for the best sound quality.
