All your N64 games in one cartridge
Like many of you out there, I cut my teeth on the N64. I could tell you several hours' worth of nostalgic stories of playing the games, both alone and with friends, as a child and as an adult. This little black system was a cornerstone of my childhood, and still to this day, I dust it off and play it now and then. But games are starting to get expensive, and many of them are asking triple digits just for the cartridge. Sure, I could emulate them, but it’s not as satisfying as playing on the actual console on a CRT TV with the controller. And apparently, the folks at Krikzz agree with me, because they’ve made this thing called an Everdrive, not just for the N64, but for several systems. An everdrive, for those not in the know, is a flashcart. What that means is that you can put games onto an SD card, put that in the Everdrive, and then play the games on the hardware. There have been several iterations of the N64 Everdrive, but this one, the X7, is the latest and greatest one. Let’s fire it up and see if this will bring you hours of joy or misery. So, setup. It won’t work straight out of the box, you gotta do a little work first. You’ll need a Micro SD card, and it needs to be formatted as FAT32. You want to give yourself a nice amount of room, but you don’t need anything crazy. A 32 Gig should do perfectly fine. Then you’ll need to go on to the Everdrive webstore and find the latest firmware for the system. Make sure you specifically go to the X7 firmware list and find the latest one, down at the bottom. Download the Zip file and extract it. Once you extract this, you’ll have a folder with another inside. This folder is labeled ED64. This folder needs to be on the root of the SD Card (meaning not inside another folder) or the Everdrive won’t work. Once you’ve got the firmware loaded, now you can load games.Legally speaking, you can only download roms of games you physically own. Be careful if you decide to download ROMs of games you don’t have, as some countries are WAY more strict about it than others. You can put the games in folders if you want, or you can leave them in the root. Your choice. This system can also play NES games with a built-in emulator. From what I hear, not all NES games run flawlessly. I have not tested NES games on my N64 myself, so keep that in mind if you decide to go this route. This cartridge can fit into both European and North American consoles and can play ROMs from different regions. It can also play hacks and homebrew games too! This has a built-in battery for games that support a battery save. You’ll still need your trusty memory pak, so keep that around. You can activate cheats too! All of these neat bells and whistles, plus more I won’t mention. But how about playing games on it?When you first turn on the system, you’ll quickly be brought to your main menu. Once you select a game, the console will reset and the rom will be loaded, thus running the game straight through the console. I have played several games on this beast, and have seen very minor issues at worst. Some audio skipping has been the absolute worst of it. I have never had a crash or major glitch that would not be present in the real cartridge. This pretty much does what it says on the tin.The only real gripe I could give is that this guy is pretty pricey. If you can afford it, though, I highly recommend it.

Much needed upgrade
I had a cheap everdrive clone (ED64) for a few years now and experienced constant crashes that made it eventually useless. Everything about the x7 from the packaging and instructions to the OS support and usability is premium and worth the money if you actually play you N64 often. It works flawlessly. I setup a micro SD card ahead of time and it plugged right in and works without any issues. Not having to reset to save is nice as I’m sure all who have owned a knock off everdrive or a previous version have accidentally lost a save file. Thank you krikzz. This thing rules

Great buy
X7 is the best everdrive money can buy. Its expensive, but its worth it. No glitches as of now. This cartridge is a krikkz original. Beware, there's cheaper krikkz approved x7 you can buy. But if you are going to spend 200 dollars for a krikkz approved/imitation. Then just pay the extra dollars and buy this cartridge off his website thats conected to amazon. That being said, you will also need a mini SD card. After some research, I found that sandisk ultra 10 mini SD card works the best. You only need like 8gb. But most are sold as a 16 or 32gb. Dont go over 32gb card. First, its overkill! Considering you will only use with game saves about 5gb, and second, I read someone said over 32 doesn't work as good. Haven't tried it to tell the difference, but again, you don't need it. Anyway have fun

Very useful
I've only recently come to appreciate playing on original hardware as being worth the effort over emulation. So after dusting off the old N64 I was really happy to find this product. This device I would say is a must-have to reduce wear and tear on aging hardware. It's also so convenient to just flip the power switch and select the game from a simple menu. It was really easy to setup as well.

It works 99% perfectly well
This item works very well with American and Japanese roms (not the European games), it ocassionally freezes but it might just be my N64 and not the cartridge. It would be great if you could save the games that need a memory card, but it does not work this ways so you will need one. Installing and playing a NES emulator has been quite fun too and also running some hacks like the Goldeneye high definition. Being able to add different APS and IPS patches to the games and also cheats has added a lot of value too. I thought it to be expensive at the beginning but now I can keep my 298 cartridge collection safely stored, so it is worth it.
