Nice material for the price! I would say this is more for an adult because it went to the waist on my 5 year old. But can adjust the size if you use a clip like I did.

My nephew wanted to be Harry Potter for Halloween and my sister looked around locally for some of the costume pieces, but wasn't thrilled with the quality or cost $15-$20 for the glasses and tie. When we found these they were essentially on back order, but would still arrive by Halloween. They actually were sent early and arrived a week before the original delivery date. The quality of the tie feels nice and is like any other basic tie you might find at a clothing store. The tie is a bit long for a kids tie, my nephew is of average height for an 8 year old, but when I tied it to go only down to his belly button, the thinner side of the tie hung down past the widest part 4 ish inches. He has a robe to wear which will cover this up, so not a huge deal. The glasses are thick plastic, with no lenses (no glass to break or plastic to scratch) and fit my 8 year old nephew just fine. He's got a thinner build, but they also fit my 7 year old nephew who is a bulky kid (taller than his brother.) If your child looks more like Slytherin's Crabbe or Goyle you may want to look elsewhere as they may not fit.

I needed this tie to finish off a costume I made which did it just fine. The price was good. The tie is of pretty decent quality. Don't get me wrong, you probably don't want to wear it to the office once a week but I suppose you could if you had to (for awhile). It may be just a bit shorter than a conventional tie. But perfect for cosplayers.
