Great product, the reviews weren't a lie
I watched some reviews about this and heard from many reviews that this speaker was very impressive, and after buying one and owning it for roughly a month or two now, I can confirm the good things said about this speaker are true! The speaker is very user-friendly with simple controls and the sound quality is greater than other speakers, especially when considering larger and more expensive named brands in competition with this product. The XBass feature slightly boosts low gains for the speaker making it sound fuller, however the change is very subtle and almost not noticeable at all at higher volumes. I feel the sound quality might be a bit better for people who prefer bass-heavy music, like me, if the XBass feature has a more noticeable change of low gain. An easy fix for this is using an aftermarket EQ app on your device, however note that it does cause slight distortion in the speakers and the bass still does cut off at higher volumes. The distortion is only a minor problem as it can only be really heard if your ear is against the speaker. As for the waterproof features, I have not had a single problem with this speaker no matter how much I've exposed it to water, whether it be on purpose or on accident. It also floats in water, making it easy to grab if you drop it in a pool or something similar. The only complaint I have is that to charge the speaker, removing the waterproof seal can be a bit tedious. It's not exactly a bad thing, though, since that only goes to prove how tight the waterproof seal over the charger and aux port really is. Since the speaker didn't exactly come with any tool to help open the seal, I've gently pried the seal open with a flathead screwdriver and have never had a problem with the seal being broken since. As for durability, I have dropped the speaker on concrete a few times accidentally and the speaker has survived perfectly fine. The speaker likely won't survive being abused heavily, but from my experience it will definitely survive the occasional small and accidental drop. The battery life on this thing is also very impressive. I've been able to use the speaker for days at a time before having to recharge it overnight, and I've still not experienced any battery-related problems at all. Although the battery probably won't keep the speaker going for too long if you crank out tunes as loud as possible all the time, this speaker isn't really for that either way. If you're looking for a good speaker to blast at large parties, rather, go for a bigger alternative of a speaker. On the other hand, if you're looking for a durable, lasting speaker that you can easily carry around for listening by yourself or with friends, this speaker is perfect for you, especially considering the price tag.

This lil Speaker has got a HUGE SOUND
EDIT.... So ive added a second to my setup, daisy chain/pairing the speakers together, i am truly STILL PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AT THE SOUND THIS LITTLE SPEAKER OFFERS ..... I do consider myself an Audiophile and have to have that "Separation " of sounds , his , lows mids , If glass shatters I WANNA HEAR IT HIT THE FLOOR....& This amazing BT portable small speakers got a BIG SOUND.... Im using 2 with my home entertainment system as I still have an Older yet Amazing Sony Studio Reciever and my LG T.V is not sounding the way id like it to so as an add on i thought it would be perfect....well its more then perfect as the clear, crisp sound does not lack for a little bit of boom as well , perspective must be kept....but it sounds a good deal better then a few soundbars ive tried...so AGAIN A GREAT LITTLE SPEAKER WITH A HUGE SOUND....Also my compared with brands based on the J.B.L flip5 n Sony Bass .....light up same 24 watts and found the TRIBIT STORMBOX sounds as good as if not better than the Flip , as well it was actually on par with the same Sony at 1/3rd the cost , i do love Sony as a brand , tho these day's speakers are very different but very much the same in terms of common material used in manufacturing.....Tribit has brought me happily to the age of truly GREAT PORTABLE SOUND ...this is a great speaker, priced at half what its value could well be , Enjoy happy listening I received this as a Mother's day gift, id been shopping around for one , n in turn listening to many brands reading reviews & Etc.. so i settled in for this one as id seen so much comp. The JBL flip n that this is on par possibly a better product and the $ difference is about half ....i am impressed with the Sound and can't believe the bass this little speaker puts out, its also parable to use 2 on the same device, giving u even more of an immersive experience as true stereo....i say 5 * s all the way.. * Edit.... Im so impressed by the sound n quality of this HUGE little speaker , i enjoy immersion sound and became spoiled to the rich full sound of my older Sony Studio receiver and the traditional tower speaker paired with the smaller surround sound hi's, mid ,center for my home theater system as its older its not b/t n just doesn't want to work with my newer TV ....ive just dealt with it its sound ( tv ) isnt Awful but its not the same , i paired the Tribit to my T.V ( ive tried traditional soundbars n just didnt hear that separation of the sounds) with this tiny speaker i get more depth , range n richness in the overall sound, i am totally impressed and am purchasing another one as it can be "Daisy" paired , using 2 for a full surround sound experience and I find this speaker is if not better than the Flip5 its on par with half the cost.....Big sound small price

Impressive for the size
If you go into this purchase with intention of a portable speaker for casual house parties, garage bars, outdoor gardening, basement workout music, and similar activities then this will be perfect. If you are thinking this will replace your soundbar or home entertainment speaker system then you'll be disappointed. Sound: Let's cut to the chase. It's pretty damn good. I noticed that the source of the music impacts the quality output - this could be related to streaming lower quality bitrate/formats like MP3 versus FLACC (as example) especially if it's local storage versus streaming. I'm not 100% on this, but I feel like I hear different qualities depending on how the music is delivered to the unit. Also 360 degrees... yeah sure, I can agree with that. If you put the tribit in the center of the room and circle around it, the sound changes slightly, which means that there are directional speakers built in and it could sound slightly different to people surrounding it. I found the quality was best when the speaker was put in a corner projecting out into the listening area. But I'm nitpicking, because I don't expect everything from something so tiny. Speaking of which.... Quality of Construction: It's hefty. It's quality. It feels high-end. It looks high-end. Nice job Tribit. I love the clicky buttons - that feedback of pressing a button and knowing it registered.... well let's just say it's awesome and satisfying. Would I change anything here? Probably not, at least from what I can tell. Note that I did not try any water tests so I cannot comment on that. Connectivity: Bluetooth took seconds to connect. I honestly don't remember exactly what I did, it was so quick. And my phone auto-pairs with it as soon as I turn the Tribit on. Cool. Things I would change: The USB connection... I think it's an older micro USB? That connection is ancient. But they give you a cord, you just need to make sure you aren't charging it above 2 amps. Check your charger if using a wall powered one. I wish I could compare this against the JBL Flip 4 but I don't have that opportunity. If anything changes with this I'll update the review. Overall: It's really impressive sound in a compact package, great construction quality, and so far good battery life. Unsure if JBL Flip 4 is better (I think this would potentially be a main competitor) and wished it had better charging connection.

Good but could be better
I purchased all 3 Tribit products, StormBox Micro, Stormbox and Maxsound Plus for my own personal self-testing. I wanted to see if all the good review were true. In comparison to the other two models, this speaker is good but could be better. From the Bass to Mids it sounds good and loud. But compared to the MaxSound Plus it is not loud enough. If Tribit combined the MaxSound along with the bass in the StormBox that would be awesome. Like the other models the sound comes off very clean. There were only 2 problems that I found with this product. One the strap at the top would come forward and the button that is attached would hit the top portion of the speaker that emits the bass. Second thing I found that it would tend to shut off fairly quickly. Reconnecting the bluetooth is an extra pain when that is one of it's main feature.. Maybe I got a dud speaker? Who knows. But I know that these would probably sound great if two sets were paired up. What I do like is that you have music coming out of all angles. You don't need to have the unit standing up at the same time. It can lay down on it's back and the sound will be perfectly fine. Some static sound was coming off the speaker grill but at one point it went away. I played all different types of music racing from classical, instrumental, pop, hip-hop, rap, bass and rock. Songs played: * Dinah Jane - Bottled Up • Ed Sheeran (Camila Cabello & Cardi B) - South of the Border • Maroon 5 - Memories • Conkarah - Banana * George Winston - Variations on the Canon • Hilary Stagg - Easy Days • Guns n ' Roses - Sweet child of mine • Yiruma - River flows in you • Post Malone - Wow • Beyonce - Love on top • Cardi B - Bodak Yellow • Matisyahu - One Day • Lil Wayne - How to love • Notorious BIG - Hypnotize • Lil Waye - A Milli • Brennan Savage - To the Moon I didn't play it at 100% but at 75% it still sound clean and the speakers didn't sound like it was gonna pop. It plays songs with bass very nicely. Like the other models this is not a surround sound movie theater speaker, but it does give you 3 all sides of music, even the back has partial sound. I'm pretty sure if you get two Stormbox speaker and pair it up as "party mode" it would some even better. I thought I could pair up any other Tribit bluetooth speaker, but that didn't work. After several attempts It didn't pair up to the StormBox Micro or MaxSound Plus. Like the other speakers I was able to control the song being played on the Stormbox through the MaxSound Plus and the StormBox Micro. When I pressed the triangle on the MaxSound Plus or the square on the Stormbox Micro twice, whatever song is up next in the que started playing. When I press those buttons once the current song would be played on the speaker which I just pressed the button on. That feature I thought was neat. This product, like the MaxSound Plus has some weight to it and is not light at all so I'd hate to drop it. When held in your hand the material is not slippery and you feel like you have a grip. There ergonomic shape allows for a good grip. What I do like is that it has a lanyard that you can hold on to at the top or latch it on to something like a back back. The lanyard is not a rope, but the same material as the speakers. I'd probably take an S-Caribner with a lock and use that to lock it into place with what I will attach it to. Battery seems to be okay, but the unit keeps shutting down so I'll have to test it and let it play all night. For the price this is a good speaker, but could be better.. I will have to update my review, if I get a second pair and try to pair the two same speakers. The Stormbox and Stormbox mini says you can pair two of the same speakers “Party Mode”, but I'd love to pair both any of the Tribit speakers together. I was hoping that this one would be my favorite, but with the power having to cut out frequently and the bluetooth disconnecting, I would most likely keep, the MaxSound Plus or the StormBox Micro since I experienced bluetooth and power issues with the StormBox. Too bad though because I love the thought and design of the whole unit. Don't get me wrong, if you havn't heard the other two units then I'd try this because of the deep low bass. You'd probably love it. And the price is right. Better luck next time for me...maybe?

Received My 2nd Tribit Maxboom Today - Daisy Chaining A Breeze (Almost). See updates below!
The USER MANUAL was not all that clear when it comes to daisy chaining the speakers. I did discover a procedure/sequence that works flawlessly. My formal education and work background is an Engineer, and we all know that Engineers are anal, so call me anal or paranoid, but I came up with a sequence/procedure that I don't deviate from (don't like introducing variables). Pretty simple process. Initial Pairing * I identified the speakers as A and B (See Photos). * Turned the iPod bluetooth on and powered up speaker A, pressed the pairing button for approximately 2 seconds, speaker A was recognized by the iPod as connected. * Powered up speaker B, pressed the pairing button for approximately 2 seconds, waited until confirmation beeps were heard for both speaker A and B. * Played a song and music was coming from both speakers. * To shut down I turned the iPod bluetooth off, when I pressed speaker A power button, both speakers were powered off. Once initial pairing has been completed (subsequent usage), * Turn the iPod bluetooth on, power up speaker A, verify the speaker is connected on the iPod. * Power up speaker B and confirmation beeps will be heard on both speakers, this happens automatically after initial pairing. * Play music. * Shut down same as above. This may sound extreme however like I said, I'm a bit anal and paranoid and never deviate from a process that works. Took the speakers and iPod out to the pool and the area was completely filled with music, sounded good for the size of the speaker (See Video). Ran the system for approximately 2 hours, battery power in the speakers was approximately 85% (each speaker has its own battery), battery power on the iPod was 75%, I'm thinking the iPod battery drains faster by using the bluetooth to power/drive both speakers, so the music source power may becoming depleted before the speakers stop working. Update 6-30-19! Took the Tribits on the maiden voyage, camping/fishing for the weekend. I know you're saying why the heck do you need that when you're enjoying the outdoors, well its just nice to have some of life's little pleasures when you're out and about setting up (See Video), cooking, relaxing, or maybe as background music when sitting around a campfire. System as daisy chained worked flawlessly, however I did make one discovery. The speakers were set up diagonally opposed in our camper canopy area (distance of approximately 12 feet.) Sitting exactly in the middle you would expect to hear the faux stereo/surround effect, not true stereo because each speaker is not a distinct/separate channel, left or right. In any event I positioned myself 7' from speaker A, and 5' from speaker B to get the optimal surround effect. I'm thinking with the way the speakers are set up for daisy chaining, in this case speaker A is paired with the iPod for bluetooth connectivity, and speaker B is connected to speaker A, speaker A may carry more power (connectivity to iPod) vs. speaker A to speaker B connectivity, just a guess. Not a huge deal as the speakers still sounded awesome even in an outdoor environment, in fact you can probably hear the sakata beetles' and crickets in the background of the video. Wanted to mention my experience and share with those using the speakers daisy chained for a similar faux stereo effect. Update 7-2-19! There seem to be many reviews mentioning battery problems/issues. Because the manufacturer states a charge rate of 5V/2A it's probably imperative not to exceed that rate, which could mean not plugging it directly into a home wall outlet. I personally plug my charging cords into my iMac (See Photo), or my Mophie Powerstation XXL, 20K portable battery pack providing up to 73 hours of power (See Photo). Have been following this charge procedure since purchasing the MaxBooms, without any issues or product performance. Just thought I would share my experiences.

Purchased for outdoor movies
My wife and I like to play movies outdoors for family and friends and the small 4W Bluetooth speaker we had when we played Star Wars with a few neighbors (we practiced social distancing fyi) made it hard to hear the movie. Me being a geek that I am, I wanted to find a rechargeable Bluetooth speaker that was small, good price and loud enough for everyone to hear the movie, and still have good sound quality. I did my usual google searching, browsing speakers on Amazon and I ended up buying two of these speakers for the stereo sound experience. Two of these speakers are less in price than some of the other Bluetooth speakers I was looking at. Once I got them I powered them up, and after some trial and error to link them together, I went outside to recreate our Star Wars outdoor movie experience and see how the sounds was. The main orchestra introduction of the Star Wars movie came out of those speaker was amazing! The volume and sound quality coming out of these speakers blew me away! I could not believe how great the sound was. If you are planning on doing an outdoor movie with 10-20 people, I would recommend buying two of these speakers. Since these speakers are 360 direction, you can play around with the placement of them to get the best sound experience you desire. A few things I noticed: First, I will say the instructions on how to link them together wasn't very good. As I said above it took me a few times to figure it out. Here is how I did it: Power up the 1st speaker. Pair it with your phone or computer via Bluetooth. Power up the 2nd speaker, while it is next to the 1st speaker press and hold the Bluetooth button for up to 5 seconds and it should connect to the 1st speaker. Second, when I first powered up and paired the speakers and started playing Star Wars from my laptop streaming from Disney+ the sound was really low. I turned up the volume all the way on my laptop but the volume was still low coming out of the speakers. Being a typical guy I ignored the "please read instructions carefully before use" suggestion and dove right in to using the speakers, so I didn't know the big plus sign on the speakers was the volume control. After I referred back to the instructions, did a quick duh forehead slap, I turned up the volume all the way using that plus button on one speaker (if two speakers are linked, you only need to use one speaker to control the volume), restarted the Star Wars movie to get the full effect of the intro main orchestra and was instantly impressed.

Great sound and customer service....
I have nothing but good things to say about the Stormbox... But first for ref...I've had a Harmon Kardon Onyx Studio 5(given as a gift) and a DOSS SoundBox Touch(purchased by me and returned). Details about these two first... The HK, to my ears, was too mid, mid/low..muddy may be how many would describe it. It could go pretty loud but these days I'm taking care of my hearing. Also it's a big speaker and while technically portable it's got an odd shape and is pretty heavy to tote around. The DOSS was the other end of the audio spectrum, too upper mid, high. Thin is a good descriptor. Size was def more portable than the HK. Now to the Stormbox. Many comparison vids put it up against other brands in it's size/price class or up against more expensive models and very often the reviewers would lean toward the Stormbox. That was enough for me to give it a try. To my ears this speaker covers all the bases, I listen to a wide variety of genres and it has played them all back very well. It's advertised as having 360° sound due to it's two drivers mounted opposite each other on either side of the control surfaces and sure enough you can set it in the center of the room, go about your business, and not get that noticeable dip or change in the audio that tells you that you're behind the speaker. It has a bass boost button that does add a bump, just don't expect a dramatic change. Here's a tip...set it in a corner of the room or corner of the kitchen counter. Portability is just right, perfect size to throw into your backpack or travel bag. It has that perfect heft, feels quality but not a chore to carry. I was sure I was going to remove the finger strap but that's how I prefer to carry it. I also much prefer the cylindrical shape to the comparably sized but rectangular DOSS. Bluetooth has been solid for me. I trust the waterproof claims, but won't be testing that. Going to agree with many of the reviews I saw prior to buying that you can't beat the price for what you get. Now for the reason I mentioned customer service in the headline. I had an issue about three months in. I emailed Tribit and quickly got a response with some trouble shooting suggestions. When those didn't work I sent a vid to show the problem and within a day was offered a replacement speaker that arrived very quickly. My hats off to Tribit for standing by their product and being very helpful and quick to respond! Yes, even though I had a problem with a speaker I'm still giving 5 stars. How it was handled and how quickly it was resolved more than made up for the fact that I had a problem. Hope this may be a help to anyone considering the Stormbox.

Very good sound quality, excellent build quality and customer service
Where you place this speaker will have a huge impact on its sound quality. Out in the open, sound quality will be fair, but place it in the corner on a kitchen countertop, it really comes to life. This will greatly increase deep bass. I also use it in my bathroom which has the vanity recessed into the wall giving the speaker five sides to reflect the sound and it sounds incredible. It easily exceeds my expectations from such a small portable speaker. The MaxBoom delivers nice rich sound and even exceptional bass when placed in a good location. All these small, inexpensive portable speakers are not going to replace a home hifi system, and anyone expecting that will be greatly disappointed. To get that kind of sound you will have spend considerably more money and sacrifice the portability of a 20oz speaker you can slip into a backpack/purse or suitcase, it will even fit in a large jacket pocket. Build quality is excellent and I have not had any significant issues with Bluetooth connectivity. Its been quick and reliable, though there is a bit of lag/delay syncing with video. So that may be an issue for some of you. But many Bluetooth speakers do this, not just this one. I have not had a problem with battery life, but I don't allow it to get low enough to not function anymore. If I use it for several hours in one day, I simply recharge it that evening. However, if you know that it will be in use for a very long period of time and you want to be sure the battery won't die, you can connect a portable battery powerpack while in use and it will play for days if you want. Just be warned, it will no longer be waterproof while doing this as the charging port cover needs to be securely closed to make it waterproof! And customer service that actually responds! I emailed Tribit with a concern about the product and they got back to me within 36 hours. I won't purchase anything from a company that I know has poor customer service regardless of the cost of the product and how good people claim the product is. But a company that stands behind the quality of their products and values their customers, I'll be a returning customer. I anxious to see what new products Tribit develops in the future.

Defective Product and Bad Customer Service
I decided to buy this Tribit Stormbox BT speaker after looking at a couple of online reviews. My observation within 2 days of using it: The sound quality is good; however, the Bluetooth connection got disconnected intermittently and the battery does not last more than 5-6 hours even when it is fully charged (instead of 20 hours as advertised). When I contacted Amazon / seller, instead of sending me a replacement set, they asked me to bring it to their service center. What made things worst, the service center doesn't have the stock at all but the store keep insisting me to liaise with the service center for the exchange. Very troublesome, so I decided to just return it.
