The Book of Five Rings

This is a great book with very good insights on being a better person and doing better in life. There are a lot of analogies that keep it interesting. It is a shame it is not better know than it is. Especially being so short and such an easy read.

Although I think some of Miyamoto's idea of faith and spiritualism is flawed (Jesus told us the real Way), I have utmost respect for his warrior philosophy. It was fascinating, and riddled at the same time; I will read this several times to figure out just how much could be applicable to my own practice and training in self-defense. But just getting the chance to read this, at the suggestion by one of my sifus in Wing Chun, was a privilege. I'm grateful to the secondary author/editor/ translator. If you are not interested in warrior philosophy, this is not going to be your cup of tea.

Paper back book came quickly delivered, and as described. Wonderful book that’s worth the read!

I was incorrect about my previous review. Though I feel it is extremely abridged, it still has the lessons Musashi intended for the reader to apply to one's life...both personal,martial,and business. Perhaps I was wrong to judge a book by its cover (literally), but the information is still both there and extremely relevant. I cannot apologize enough for my previous review, and can only state that buying this book is an absolute must have for EVERY individual looking to improve themselves.

Very great read. This bulk of this book focuses a lot on sword fighting techniques but if you read in between the lines it talks about so much more. The beginning of the book and the end talk about ways to go about your life to be successful. If you apply those early teachings of the book to the middle of the book where he talks about sword fighting, you’ll take away more from it. Great and easy read. Finished it the day I got it

I like it and read it in a day. It gives guidelines and outlooks on different ways of life. Also how to achieve and overcome the daily struggles of existing.

This is an excellent read that has applications for everyday life and I highly recommend reading this book. However, this version is abridged and has a variety of typos throughout, which is why I only gave 3 stars. If the typo's and abridgment don't bother you, then this has great value. However, there are other copies at a comparable price that have a fuller version as well as proof-reading.

This book is a great wonder of a powerhouse of a read that will endure for ages for all times to come! Somewhat obtuse in its meanings & decipherability, but nonetheless a good read overall! I had a grand ole time reading this tome & I truly recommend it for all those ages to keep especially in times to weep but not to sleep! Jusse "try it" folks! Then perhaps you decide for yourself what I truly mean about this book!

All bookshelves should have this. Bought for my son who loves different philosophical reads.

Dieses Buch muss von jedem Kampfkünstler gelesen werden. Für alle anderen ist es auch interessant, wie der große Meister Miyamoto Musashi seine Art beschreibt. Echte Weisheit, die durch große Erfahrung entstanden ist. Und dafür kostenlos. Nicht zu verpassen.
