The result of an experiment designed to explore new flavour profiles, this limited edition single grain whisky is the second release from the Kininvie Distillery. This whisky has been made using the traditional Scotch whisky process, but with the addition of malted rye instead of the classic malted barley. In addition to the trial of rye, an extended fermentation process has created rich toffee notes, with the traditional copper pot stills enhancing the spice flavours found naturally in rye. Kininvie's Single Grain has a distinctive sweet yet spicy, well-balanced and well-rounded flavour. Kininvie Works Kininvie Works is a free-thinking distillery in Speyside. A place a little out of the way, where a small team like to experiment with new ways to make Scotch whiskies and create flavour profiles that challenge what's expected from the traditional. Kininvie don't work to a commercial agenda. They are motivated by what can be learnt, and what kind of Scotch whiskies they can make – and share. An experimental distillery with heritage roots The Kininvie Distillery was built in Speyside at a time when whisky distilleries were closing their doors. With a belief that Scotch would recover, William Grant & Sons saw this as an rtunity to experiment with a new whisky distillery on their historic Dufftown site. Drawing inspiration from other Speyside distilleries, a unique setup was created, providing freedom to experiment with whisky-making processes to create exciting flavour profiles and expressions not seen in other Scotch whiskies. Through their experimentation Kininvie have developed a house style. Always working on something new, Kininvie continue to test and share limited edition batches for the enthusiast who wants to explore and learn about new whiskies.
