Good clamping power
Used this for a gopro and it worked out fine. If you have a flat surface with an edge less than 2 inches, it is super solid and fits the bill.

Outstanding mount for lightweight gear
This is very versatile for mounting lightweight A/V gear in all sorts of locations. I'd agree with other reviewers that you have to use common sense about what you clamp it to and not overload it. The construction is sturdy; more metal than plastic. The clamp operates easily and tightens down securely. The ball head has a good range of adjustment and is also quite secure. I use this for a palm-size camcorder (380g, 13.4 oz.) and a portable audio recorder (176g, 6.2 oz.), and I've had zero concerns about mounting these lightweight items in precarious locations. The manufacturer says the capacity is 1.36 kg (3 lb.) and with valuable equipment I would respect that and leave room to spare (common sense). As for mounting on a moving object, I'd only do it if the object moved smoothly without abrupt changes in speed or direction (again, common sense). The mount is most secure when clamped to something with parallel faces that contacts as much of the rubber pads as possible. At a recent gig I had the option of putting this clamp on a pipe and decided against it, even with my relatively light gear. Better safe than sorry. All in all, this is an essential item in my bag of specialty camera mounts.

Almost Perfect
I’m a Fat Ghecko fanboy. I’ve proably paid off some employees benefits for the year with how much I’ve purchased. That said, I only have one caveat. Where you mount your device, quick plate or whatever only has a stud at the top of the post (as seen in the photo). For me, this really limits the angle of whatever you’re mounting. I’ve used if for audio recorders, lighting, mics, etc. But what I’ve done to make this item 50x more usable for me is to add a knuckle joint with stud and clamp. There’s a Fat Ghecko Kit that includes several extension pieces and a knuckle joint. I got it for $20. This kit really enchanses the use of this clamp. If this vise just included the joint for like $5 more, it would be a 5-Star product. Throw in the extension pieces for a few bucks more and it’s 6-Stars. As it is, I feel it’s lacking a little and slightly overpriced. I will mention that the vise clamps down very well and everything tightens down with very little movement. Also, the jaws of the vise have removable rubber pieces, but using them I’ve had yet to damage anything it’s been mounted to. Overall, this item is very well made and had served me well so far, with the addition of the knuckle joint. I liked the first so much, I bought a second btw.

Great camera mount accessory arm.
I use this with a 7" LCD display for a video camera. We have our camera up about 9' and this little arm makes it easy to clamp on to a chair or anything else (even the tri-pod itself) so that we can line up our shots. It has held up well as part of our video rig. Would buy again!

Good mount for still photography
I had some issues with this mount after a few times in use on a skateboard and on a car. The ball joint wont tighten down tight enough to not move with any vibration. I've used pliers with no luck. If just for still photography it may be fine.

Works great on baseball backstop fences, but not on curved softball fences.
11/19/2017 - Update First time using it on a curved backstop found on some softball fields. Had a very difficult time setting it up. When I did get it clamped in, some of the fence blocked the picture since I couldn't set the camera flush with the fence. Another time, a ball hit the spot directly where the camera was set. The clamp failed and the whole setup hit the ground, busting my camera. I now use a carabiner clip to attach the strap to the fence. Original Review: I needed a mount to record my son's baseball games. A quick web search came up with 2 products not on Amazon. LynkSpyder and View-Thru. LynkSpyder seems to offer good support, but price was $60 with the adapter I needed. The View-Thru is priced at $30.00 but offers very little support. Thankfully I searched Amazon and found the Fat Gecko Vise. I love it. I am able to use it on every backstop fence and it supports my Sony Handycam. It is sturdy and withstands foultips hitting the fence. Even with varying types of fences, I am able to find the right spot due to the adjustments available on this mount. You may just need to keep practicing to find the right angle. By the way, I have a GoPro but I find the angle too wide for baseball. I use a Sony Handycam HDR-CX440 to record my son's games. I had a CX240, but the angle was not wide enough to get both 1st and 3rd base. The CX-440 is wide enough to get all bases and not too wide that getting too much of the space behind homeplate.

Klemme.

This thing held up a camera in place for 450 days. No a single nodge in the footage. I just have a problem with the rubbers, they keep falling out and i eventually will lose them like i lost the ones before. I wish they came screwed or something

does exactly what it says..have been able to clamp to virtually anywhere..the ball joint for camera means any angle can be achieved..excellent piece of kit and well worth the money..i also bought the extension kit which works great..also would like to see a longer extension than the one you presently can buy.. 100/100 for this product

I've bought three of these now, they are robust and reliable. There's a lot of metal in the construction, although the "twisty knob" you use to tighten the clamp is plastic. It's not given any problems though. I've got quite a few Delkin mounts and personally prefer them to cheaper offerings. I like the way you can adjust the "stalk" that holds the camera in any direction once it's mounted, then twist the screw to lock it in position. My clamps have been attached to anything and everything, including the cab of a steam train, and never slipped or let me down in any way. I've used them to mount GoPro cameras and a Tascam audio recorder. I'm not sure how well they'd work with bigger camcorders or DSLRs, I haven't tried that. I'd imagine that is pushing the comfort zone of this sort of device. A valuable addition to any bag of mounts for a camera person.
