TIME-LIFE World War II in 500 Photographs

This is a really nice book. I bought it for my husband as a gift. He’s been a little obsessed with WW II from a young age (heck, he got a whole set of Encyclopedias at the age of ten and has held onto them 47 years later over many other material items). My interest and knowledge does not run as deep as his, so take my five stars for what it’s worth. I wanted to review mainly to share pictures since I see none from other buyers. I was pleasantly surprised at the size - lengthy, yes, but also a good coffee table sized book. For the price, and due to the high reviews from other aficionados, I bought without looking at dimensions. Being so reasonably priced, I figured it would be on the smaller size. I’m actually looking forward to perusing it after he reads it. *It did come with a slight bend/warp, but I didn’t think it significant enough to exchange.

I got this for my father who is suffering from dementia. He loved it! When I go to visit I use it to keep our conversation rolling as he’ll say “Oh, I remember when that happened ....” and he’ll then start telling me a story about his time in the Navy. It was one of the best gifts I got him this year. He’s now alone in an assisted living facility and this helps pass the time on days, due to COVID, that they can’t leave their suites! ❤️

I bought this as a graduation gift for my great nephew. He's into this time period and loves it. I got him a figurine at the same time and he loved them both but immediately started looking at the book. It seems well informed and very well done. The pictures were good quality and in good taste.

This was from me to my old man this holiday gift sharing occasion. I have never personally given my Dad a gift that he seemed even remotely interested in. Nor has my mother. And not my many brothers. He is a nice, sweet man. It is just seemingly impossible to give him something that gets him. Until now..... He and I, Pops and Me, have a few things in common. Most are not applicable in this review, but we are both loco for history. Especially American History. This book looked very intriguing as it is beautiful in its 500 photographs. Im not a phd in history but i know facts much better than i have accurate visuals for them. This book provided that. So my Dad opened the paper and glanced at the book. In a noncommittal way he said he would look forward to looking at it later. As he moved to set it down, and my hopes were dashed again, he last minute brought it back to him and opened it up! And he dropped out of conversation for 20 minutes, engrossed in this book he didn't even seem interested in at first. When i tried to bring into the chat he was distracted and flipping all about this masterpiece. So that is all the review i think anyone would need, eh? enjoy it as a history fan or surprise someone with something like this. when you know you know, ya' know? haribol and HK

With literally tons of books about WW2 overflowing everywhere, this one is - amazingly - still relevant and almost surprising in its clever use of photos. Bravo TIME!!! I'd like to write a much longer review on my travel blog, but can't seem to locate THE person at TIME (in PR?) to contact.

I'm WWII buff and enjoyed the pictures. The commentaries left something to be desired. Information wasn't always correct or was incomplete.

Got this gift for my Dad for father's day. He absolutely loved it. He stated that is was really good quality and had a lot of information regard WWII. It was a total hit. Glad I got it. Recommend this for other WWII loving dads.

I bought this as gift for my 13 year old who is very interested in WW2. It is perfect, covering everything from the rise of Hitler thru the period after the war. Very much a must for any WW2 buffs. Surpassed my expectations.

Vale a pena comprar esse livro, fotos de boa qualidade e a historia contada de uma maneira mais interessante. Vale a pena, para quem gosta da historia da 2ª guerra.

If you have a parent that is interested in World War II this is the book to get, especially if they have trouble reading. This book is my fathers absolute favourite! He was over the moon when he received it. He unfortunately soiled his previous copies & that was all he would ask for when you saw him! He needed his book of 500 pictures, so when I saw there were only 4 copies left, I ordered all of them & they came in perfect condition. Even though they weren't all brand new, they were pristine & my father is a happy man, again & so am I. Thank you

Life cubrio la WWII como pocos medios y las fotografias que tomaron durante el conflicto fueron increibles. Así que uno esperaria que si un libro resume en 500 fotos el conflicto, estas sean las mas representativas y las mejores. Pues no... El libro es una porqueria, la impresion es barata, las fotos son las mismas que ves en todos lados, las fotos estan cortadas (media foto en una pagina y el resto de la foto en la siguiente pagina) y ademas viene "embelezado" con textos que hacen todavia mas chicas las fotos. En fin, que si no te interesa la fotografia de la WWII, puedes regalar este libro barato a alguien que no sabe nada del tema. Si te interesa y conoces de la WWII, te vas a sentir decepcionado de este fraude en forma de libro barato, mal impreso y aburrido. Nefasto, me puso de mal humor haber gastado mi dinero a lo tarado. NO LO COMPREN, es basura.
