After 18 years of service, my old Zurn Wilkins backflow cracked in the cold that killed all shrubs as well. So I bought the exact replacement and my sprinkler guy installed it for me. Now, no leaks and my system works fine. Our Metro Water Service checks backflow every year in the spring. So, we have to get the backflow unit fixed or replaced if it fails their inspection. My old one was needing repairs last 3 years. Hopefully, I won't have to do it for many years. My sprinkler guy said he will remove it during winter so that I can keep it in garage all winter and then in spring he will put it back. This will improve the device's longevity.

My water company says that it’s a county rule to have one if you have a well. I haven’t installed it yet but it looks to be well made.

It came in quicker than I expected

We had this product for nearly a year and suddenly it cracked. Since it says there is a one year warranty, we contacted the manufacturer and were told to contact Amazon support because they do not have record of any purchases made through Amazon. This went back and forth three times before I was finally able to get someone who asked for pictures of the broken product and the Amazon invoice. During this call, it was stated that there was a note for freeze damage, which I never claimed. I told them this was not freeze damage. After sending the pictures, they called me back stating that it is clearly freeze damage. When I told them this happened prior to any frozen temperatures, they refused to hear me and simply repeatedly stated how exactly freeze damage works. I am aware of how freeze damage works. I am also aware that it was not frozen in this area when the cracks were found. I asked the representative if they were claiming that I am lying about the temperatures and she repeated again, in an extremely condescending tone, how freeze damage works. This may have been an argument I could have before getting passed back and forth between Zurn and Amazon for a month, but by the end, I was so frustrated with the entire situation that the disrespect from the company has completely put me off ever recommending the products based purely on their customer service. The product worked fine until it broke and we just wanted a replacement, not to be lectured on freeze damage when it was in fact not frozen.
