Polarized Men's and Women's Sugar Beach Rimless Sunglasses

I discovered Maui Jim sunglasses in Hawaii where it sells at a discounted price at Costco. I was driving and I noticed that my head was hurting. I realized it was from the glare of the sun. So I tried on my husband's Maui Jims and my headaches disappeared when I used it while driving. I have since moved and still buy Maui Jims due to their bang for the buck price, quality and the lightness of their sunglasses. The lens are still clear despite being at least 10 years old. They have an Asian fit.

I have owned every brand of high end sunglasses from Oakley to Costa to Rayban and even tried some more moderate brands like Tifosi and Hobie. My problem is that I want multi use shades for running/biking as well as casual wear. Another problem is that most of these glasses put pressure on the bridge of my nose even though they are promoted as lightweight. The MJ Sugar Beach are really light weight above all the others and do not put pressure on my nose. That may be a personal thing but they are the most comfortable pair of sunglasses I have ever worn. I have seen a few reviews about durability for these and while I have just had them for 3 months and take care with cleaning them, I have played in the pool, biked and ran with them and have not had any problem with fragility. They are very crisp as far as optics but I will say that Oakley and Costa maybe slightly better but not materially so and do not offer the comfort. The style is cool too, Aviators are a great look for all types of faces and compared to the originals (Rayban) they are much lighter-no comparison. May not be for everyone but these are definitely for me

I love these sunglasses! I've been wearing Maui Jim Sugar Beach sunglasses ever since I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration (about 7 years ago, it's early stages and I'm not interested in it progressing!) and my eye doc said it was imperative that I wear good sunglasses whenever the sun is up. He recommended Maui Jims because no matter which frame you get or how much you pay, you'll always get the best lens and eye protection. This is the second pair I purchased from this seller, I recently broke the first pair I bought and Maui Jim has super customer service that stands behind their two-year warranty. They'll even repair things you break (like the temple).Update: May 3, 2019. I'm still wearing these sunglasses, I have two pair, one with brown lenses and one with black/grey lenses. I love the eye protection as well as the style and the fact they are so light. The give to get on the weight is that I seem to break them once a year. (They give you a great case, I really need to use it!) I'm getting ready to send the black ones back for new lenses, the cost is $75 but way cheaper than new glasses and they usually replace anything else that needs replacing or tweaking. I can't say enough about their customer service. Great glasses and great support, AND my Macular Degeneration is holding steady, not just because of these glasses but they certainly are part of the overall eye care and protection that is helping me.

I started buying Maui Jim sunglasses when Ray-Ban quality declined after Bausch & Lomb sold them to an Italian fashion brand. I like this Sugar Beach product for two main reasons: Optically, they are excellent for bright or cloudy conditions, with the combination of tint and polarizing adding contrast, especially at distance. And they are vanishingly light, so they stay put and are almost unnoticeable. I sometimes forget I have them on. The lenses are poly-carbonate, but I have never had a problem with scratches, despite several drops to the pavement. So why not five stars? Part of the lightness is the slim plastic frames, and they can fatigue and break; for that reason, this is my second pair. Another thing to note is that polarizing is not for everybody or every situation. Some LCD gauges or instruments (airplane cockpit instruments, fuel pump readouts) will appear opaque if viewed from the wrong angle; I can read my phone when I hold it in portrait mode, but not in landscape. If that sort of thing sounds like too big a problem, non-polarized sunglasses are for you.

I absolutely love these! Maui jim does not dissapoint with these. I did a lot of reading before purchasing these. Before I would think it rediculous to spend over $30 on a pair of sunglasses let alone purchase one in the 3 digit range. But, after reading on the internet how amazingly worth every penny maui jim glasses are (wallstreet journal), and playing around with other cheaper polarized sunglasses and finally decided to take the plunge.When I got these in I fell in love, the smooth and simplified neo-aviator style combined with the rootbeer colored frame and lenses gives a really relaxed on the beach feel without being too hipster or beach bum-esque. The frame is made out of a at-first-glance flemsy material but it's actually really strong and won't break easily because of its bendability. The frame also has a "face hugging" characteristic that metal frames do not, so it will not fall off your face if say your are looking over the side of a boat.Now to the main selling point, the lenses, Polarised lens are an amazing technology that block out light waves traveling along a certain axis, for example, light waves that bounce off a horizontal car will be blocked out by the lenses. So that morning glare you see shining off of the bumper to bumper cars during the rush hour traffic on your way to work will no longer be a problem, nor the glare coming off of water surfaces.Unfortunately, polarised technology has its fall backs. Color does not transfer well through the lens, leaving distorted images. But, low and behold maui jim's have found a way around this, honestly I do not understand the science surround this so I will no try to explain it, but it creates a sensation of not wearing anything yet still blocking out the sun and glare, so almost like a perfect world. This combined with the extremely comfortable frame, you will forget you are wearing them.After about two years of having these, they were lost. I looked everywhere, my car my work places I am most of the time and they had escaped me. I tried going without them but I could not so i ordered another pair, just as good as the first. After having the new pair for about 3 days, I found the old pair. -.-Well, I didn't have a need for two pairs so the old pair was gifted to my girlfriend and she absolutely loves them.To sum it up, these are truly exceptional sunglasses, I highly recommend them, they will be the last sunglasses you wear.

UPDATE: 1-8-18. Smashed my face into the cockpit of the jet I fly. Glasses snapped right down the middle of the nose part of the frame. I sent them out to Maui Jim to fix. Online quote to fix was $50. They charged me $10, and sent them back with 2 day shipping completely fixed and lenses cleaned. A+These are the most lightweight sunglasses I have ever owned. They are fantastic.My mom owns a pair too and their warranty is second to none. She lost hers outside, and they sat in our yard through a whole winter...found them in spring scratched beyond belief. She sent them in and I think they charged her $20 maybe to get them fixed. This is about the fourth time she has destroyed them in one way or another too...They are very comforatble too. No awkward placement on your face or having to bend the frame to adjust to ear heights...since they are a lightweight plastic they adjust incredibly easy to sit right.

I HAD a pair of MAUI JIM glasses for years. Had them on my top and while shopping, guess I bent over & the fell off. Didn't know until I returned to the car and.... These are by far a better purchase! 1) I like the looks better, although a tad larger frame, still the remarkable quality! 2) I paid close to 1/2 (less) for these, than what I pair for the old ones! 3) Although I feel the look of the old was more complimentary to my face, when riding my Harley, they do allow me to wear them cutting the wind and providing excellent glare and reflection resitance! So.... I'm VERY pleased with this purchase! Probably will get another pair (maybe 2) for different colors! Granted, this brand of glasses are expensive. I won't go as far as saying they are worth it for regular retail, but will with Amazon!I am fairly new to Amazon and have been in awe since I looked at the very first item! I was in total flip out, thinking it had to be a mistake, when I saw the price of these glasses! THEN, when the arrived (very quickly), I was even more impressed! Sadly, I do have a couple returns I will be making. If that goes as smoothly as everything else has, Amazon has a lifelong customer!

I have had these glasses for a week. Firstly, I saved $65 buying them on Amazon. .. they are incredibly comfortable and light. The little arms are flexible abut seem strong. The lenses are very clear and block out glare and sunlight really well. They are the most comfortable sunglasses I have ever worn, as well as the most expensive. But I must say that I won't wear cheap glasses again! I did purchase a string so that the glasses wouldn't fall off and scratch, as I have a tendency to drop my glasses often. I have purchased cheap sunglasses in the past which always broke quickly or scratched to the point where I couldn't see out of them well.

Il prodotto già lo conoscevo perché è il secondo occhiale Maui Jim che compro , lenti fantastiche , occhiale leggerissimo veramente eccellente sia per la città che per il mare ( barca) l' unico inconveniente è stato che nella descrizione fornita dal venditore vi era scritto grigio fumo e (così erano quelli che volevo) mi sono arrivati marroni come quelli già in possesso ho chiesto il reso , ma poi ho deciso di tenerli, il problema è nato perché solo nella parte sottostante dell' inserzione vi e la specifica marroni/ neri, per cui non avendo dato la specifica del colore sono arrivati marroni. Il venditore cmq valido arrivati prima del previsto.

Es el lente más ligero que he encintado en el mercado y de excelente calidad en su polarizado. Lo he vuelto a comprar a través de los años. Lo único negativo es su durabilidad, Justo por lo ligero del armazón son delicados. Mientras los conserves en el estuche y los cuides son maravillosos.

Ya he utilizado otros modelos de esta marca, pero estas son especialmente cómodas, debido a su extrema ligereza.Los cristales protegen muy bien del sol (hay diferentes colores donde elegir) y no se mueven según pasa el tiempo (tienen unas piezas de goma en las patillas y en el puente).Muy contento con la compra.
