good stone for sharpening purposes
I have received this order on Oahu, Hawaii, 96825. I only have a few whetstone for sharpening some of my Japanese knives but this whetstone sharpen very well, it does not cut too fast or too much, which is perfect for touch up and regular sharpening upkeep of your knife. Can get your Japanese knife sharpen in a few minutes, feedback is good and relatively smooth.

Great stones for an incredible price
These are the best stones on the market, and the cheapest. Cheapest in terms of the various top tier Japanese water stones (naniwa, suehiro, bester etc). I use them mostly for razors, chisels, plane blades, but mostly razors. The 1k is a metal eater, it’s fast as heck, hard, slow wearing. I hone razors commercially, roughly 300 a year plus all of my own and at this rate I’ll get 15 years out of it. That’s pretty great for a $40 stone. The 2k may be the star of the whole lineup. It’s got the best feedback, creamy feel, fast cutting, again slow wearing. The 5k is super fast as well and puts a bright polish on the bevel. Essentially a mirror finish. This 5k and the 8 and 12k don’t really wear at all. They will most likely last the rest of my life. The 8 and 12 are also super fast, hard and slow wearing. The shaving edges off the 12k are good, especially if you do 10 laps on chromium oxide after. For knives I really like the 1k, and especially the 2k. The 2k is a great finisher for most western knives, German, Us made stuff. For Japanese knives I like to go a little higher..The 5k puts a brilliant polish on a knife, but it’ just lacks feedback. It is feels kind of dead. The 8k is a little better in this regard. But overall, the finer stones all don’t have the greatest feedback for knives. But like I said, the finish is great. The 8 and especially 12k will leave a perfect mirror polish. But there really isn’t any knives that I would use the 12k for. 8k is the max.

Great Waterstone
Love this water stone. It is my second one of these. Water absorbs quickly and dries off quickly. Shapton stones are amazing!

The Best profiling Whetstone you can get and last you'll ever need again.
I purchased an entire line of the Shapton Kuromaku Whetstones with grit ratings of 100 to 4000. This #320 is a must have for extremely dull or reprofiling work. The hype is real from what you may have heard about the Shapton Kuromaku. I can verify all the hype- that they work incredibly fast, have great feedback and are VERY uniform. These are long lasting ceramic based stones that are known for their uniformity, speed, longevity. I have used this stone to profile(sharpen) 20 knives so far and have also purchased this as a gift for my Step Dad who is equally impressed. This is a critical stone to have as it is used for setting the knife's profile and does the raw sharpening (first stage). if you dont' get this right, the finer grit stones won't help.. so this is a critical stone to have in your collection. With care, I expect this to last a life time.

Great stone, but a little rough.
It's a great stone. It has good feedback and decent durability. But it seems in a different "class" than Shapton's other ceramics. It's noticeably more porous than their finer stones, and feels kind of sandy to me and requires more rinsing due to more slurry. It still cuts great and does it fast, it just doesn't have that premium feel that drew me to their other stones. Not a bad stone for the price, but you definitely won't be finishing your edge on this one!

Great stuff
Great stuff. I have sharpened 2 knives 1 vg10 steel 1 sg2 steel blade. I was able to shave my hand with both of those. I am novice.

Excellent, especially for PMV-11
Excellent stone. Cuts fast. I use this as my middle stone between a 1500 Shapton and 12,000 Shapton. Excellent for Veritas PMV-11 plane blades and chisels.
