Travel Press, Vacuum Insulated, Stainless Steel Portable Coffee Maker and Tea Press, 15oz, Black

I originally had the plastic version of this product and loved it but it eventually cracked under heat stress. I figured that this steel model wouldn't have that issue and i was not disappointed. This is very solidly made. Where some users report the lid not fitting properly when the contents are at room temperature, mine secured firmly right out of the box and maintained that seal when hot. It is not 100% leak proof however, it was never designed to be, this is done to facilitate the press. Do not expect to fill this full of hot water and coffee and just toss it into a duffel bag without making a mess. It will however hold up to bumpy car rides and even bicycle rides assuming you have a holder for it. Should it be knocked over on your desk while closed you will have ample time to recover it and avoid liquid disaster all over your pants.This model is also quite a bit better at retaining heat than the plastic version. It's almost too good at it in fact. I find myself unscrewing the lid just to get the coffee down to drinkable levels. once it's at ideal temp it will stay there for hours if you happen to be a slow coffee drinker. If you want some coffee more immediately then you had best be a good judge of water temperature when you but the kettle on.The only thing i miss about my old plastic one was it's transparency. there was never any question if i had added too much water or if the coffee was done. I could see it quite easily. But if that's all i have to give up for longevity then so be it. I imagine it would be hard to add cream or sugar as well but i drink mine black so that is a nonissue.If you want quality fresh black coffee or loose leaf tea on the go without the cost or waste of a coffee shop then look no further. Convenient, sturdy and environmentally friendly, that's this press/mug combo

I thoroughly enjoy this French press; use it daily and no longer bother with any other coffee maker. Understanding how a French press works and knowing what to expect, I can confidently give it five stars.The insulation works fantastically -- my coffee is piping hot after plunging still rather warm up to two hours later. This has been a large issue with my other presses (including those from Bodum). Thank the maker, my coffee no longer goes cold.And the volume is enough that I get a heavy dose of good French pressed coffee every day (even with up to three scoops of grinds). Not like some small presses that force me to make a second cup.Other reviewers have mentioned seemingly negative points that I will also address.First, the sealing of the lid:This is not an up-endable travel mug. Full stop. But it's not advertised as such. Remember, it's a press, which means the plunger mechanism must be able to move. For the price, you can't expect the hardware that would create a waterproof seal around the plunger. So, yes, if you turn it upside down, it will leak. That said, if the mug tips and you quickly right it, it won't leak so quickly that you have coffee everywhere. I carry mine out and about on a daily basis, put it in the outer pocket of my backpack and, as long as I'm a little careful, I have no problems.Second, grinds in your coffee:On the last few sips of coffee, I typically do taste a few grinds that have managed to slip around the edges of plunger screen. It's not the end of the world and it tells me my coffee is done for the day. The edge of the plunger screen is a silicone-esque O-ring which is enough to push most grinds to the bottom, but like all French presses I have used, some may get by. You must also understand that you are not pouring the coffee out of the press (which further keeps grinds from getting into your coffee cup). You are drinking directly from the press, so you can't expect zero grinds 100 percent of the time. As long as I know this, I'm not bothered.Third, problems operating:If you use it properly — not with super fine coffee powder, pushing the plunger consistently but slowly, sometimes making a few attempts — the screen doesn't get blocked and there isn't the pressure buildup that would force water (and grinds) around the edge of the plunger. Some folks complain this happens every time. Operator error isn't exactly something to complain about.

I love this product. I have had it for about a month now, juggling use between it, a (official brand) Yeti Cup, and an Aerobi Coffee Press. Bottom Line, this is the best product of the three. I purchased The Chrome/Black Stainless Steel Travel French Press at about $19.Negatives. This does not come with an extra, non-press, lid. Since the product description is shared amon multiple Bodum products, this aspect is unclear, and can be misleading. The mouth piece is comfortable, however the closure device is not the best. It clips closed, but is not very tight and does not inspire confidence. It also does not clip securely into the open position. The plunger hole through the lid allows a bit of wiggle room, therefore, it is possible for liquid to come out of the top, if the cup falls over. .A possible additional negative or a positive is the fact that the double-wall insulation is effective on the level of the Yeti Cup. I burn my mouth about once every 3 days since I'm not patient enough to wait an hour for the coffee to cool down. I suggest pouring a more temperate cup of coffee, or leaving the lid off while the grounds steep for an extended period of time. The Bodum is obviously not as big as the Yeti Cup, so depending on your preferences, this may be a positive or negative as well. I have small hands and prefer the size and feel of the Bodum.Positives include the above, depending on your point of view. Additionally, I have found that the filter works very well. I have not gotten any grounds in my coffee thus far, as long as I only pour the coffee below the point where the inside of the cup begins to widen, at the top, to accommodate the lid. The first time I used this cup, I poured too much water and had a messy, grainy, cup of coffee. The silicone grip is comfortable and the cup doesn't feel hot to the touch thanks to the effective double wall insulation. The lid incorporates a comfortable mouth piece. Much better than that found on the Yeti Cup. But what about the Flavor?I use an Aero Press about as much as I use this cup. I really want to like the Aero Press, and I do to a point. But I believe the Bodum does the job better. The flavor is the same between both devices, in my opinion. The difference is that the Bodum Cup offers far greater convenience. All parts are on board, in a vastly more compact profile, and the cleanup process is far easier than with the AeroPress, What's more, is the Bodum can be obtained at half the price. Even less if you consider the fact that you may need to buy a vessel to work in concert with the AeroPress.I have purchased an additional plastic version of the Bodum Press in hopes that the lids would be compatible. I have been unsuccessful in my attempt to determine whether this is the case. When I receive my new, cheaper, plastic model, I plan to update this post. I hope this helps!**************UPDATE****************I received my plastic Bodum Press today and I'm extremely disappointed. The experiment was a total failure and I will be returning the item. First of all, it didn't come with the advertised extra "normal", non-french press lid. This would have been OK, since I felt the 9 dollars I spent on the plastic version would be worth it if I could swap the grip and the lid from the plastic model to the steel model. Unfortunately, while the grip on the stainless steel is easily removable, the grip on the plastic model is completely attached and cannot be removed without damaging the item. Lastly, the lids are not interchangeable. They are close in size, but you cannot swap the lids between the plastic and steel models. Bottom line, if you're looking for additional parts or options for the stainless steel model, you need to buy another stainless steel model. A good deal at $17.5.

I love my tea brewer. This will brew about 16oz worth of loose leaf tea (which is what I use it for). I love the smooth, stainless interior. I've accidentally forgotten to rinse it out when it's had dairy in it and it washes and rinses clean and easy with no lingering smell. I've put it in the dish washer to give it a deep cleaning and I like that water doesn't get under the rubber grip and drip down the side. (I have another mug that does that and it's annoying.) It will keep your tea VERY hot for a long time. I've burned my mouth a couple times with it. What I will do now is after brewing the tea is I will drop an ice cube in it to lower the temp if I'm going to drink the tea right away. In the afternoon I will pull the stopper out and add hot water to fill it half way and get a little more out of my tea leaves. The snap lid is very secure. I don't think I would toss it in your bag without making sure it stayed upright but it doesn't leak. I'd say the only think I don't like about it aesthetically is the wording on the embossed cuff around the mug. It says "BODUM The fresh way to brew fresh coffee and tea". It's not very pretty. The raised wording helps with grip, but something prettier like an abstract pattern would be cooler. There was another review on this mug where someone was using it for coffee and mentioned that the stopper didn't press down all the way. I think they must be using waaaay too much coffee grounds in the bottom if that's happening. I've never had that problem with tea but tea leaves compress better. The only other thing I've noticed is that when you go to get the last sip, the tea leaves will clog the bottom filter so the last of the liquid is trapped in the bottom. But that's why I'll add some more hot water in the afternoon to get a little more out of my leaves like mentioned above. Overall, wonderful functional mug.

While using this mobile French Press, which I bought in 2018 in late spring, I discovered that as it is manufactured with a lot of careful thought, and with high-quality materials, it is used best if the coffee were to be consumed in a shorter duration of time, while I tend to leave it inside the container for a longer period, and this changes the consistency of the liquid slightly. This volume is enough for three tea cups, if it were to be filled to the maximum. This type of preparation creates a different type of strength, aromatic quality and consistency of coffee than an espresso machine would give, and I prefer it to an espresso, probably because I need a larger volume of water in which the coffee to be created. It could also be that most women would benefit, and, in this way, prefer, this type of coffee preparation compared to a type of an espresso.I drink the coffee made in this way without adding sugar and milk also probably the volume of water and air are preferable to me when approached in this way. I only add a pinch of sinnamon and one kardamom seed to the coffee before the hot water is poured over.The stainless steel body with its rubber elements works well with my mobile Philips stainless steel hot water jug. I prepare the water and the coffee inside my bedroom, placed on a mobile wooden table. In this way I have not had a problem with grounding the electrical current, or the hot water, and the complete result does not give me indigestion, or a heart-burn, which I normally have when I drink espresso coffee with sugar, and especially when I add milk to it.I have only one small problem with fitting the pressing mesh element to the rod which connects at the top to the closing lid; the mesh element is currently slightly mobile when at the start was firmly secured, something happened to the thread at that position. This happened a couple of months after I started to use the press, and I discovered it while taking the central rod together with the mesh to wash them; a slight vacuum forms inside at thebody of the press which makes the removal of the central rod, mech and top lid a bit difficult. I wash the whole press with washing liquid, and dry every element after each use, for the purpose of sanitation, but also to create the least amount of possible pollution by approaching the item as if it were a public item, not a personal one.I recommend this Travel Press to every house-hold, especially because of the different rhythms of our professional and personal lives we are experiencing in this time in one house-hold when coffee is taken separately by every member. Mobile, in this sense, to me is more appropriate to be understood as the timing of our drinking coffee rather than by the process of using the press while we are travelling outside our homes.I cannot drink directly by using the opening of the lid, because the coffee is very hot; I always pour the prepared coffee in a separate cup; I use a tea cup.

I love French Press coffee and make myself a big pot in a big insulated French Press and enjoy a LOT of coffee every day. But it's getting expensive, plus I have a trip coming up and I'll be staying with someone who exclusively has Nespresso, which I don't care for. So I bought this lovely thermos French Press to cut down my consumption and to have real coffee during that visit.I chose Bodum as I've used their coffee products in the past and liked them. It works as advertised and makes a nice thermos of coffee that stays hot, but drinkable, for hours.My main issue with a lot of travel cups is the drinking experience, but this one has a nice broad lip and feels pleasant to drink out of. It also seals tightly and spill proof.

A very good quality, very functional, handy product. Perfect for any occasion, anywhere. To care for it well you can wash the base grind pusher with liquid soap and white vinegar. Since it's a metal mug it sustains a clean inside appearance. It also serves as a great thermos if you detach the inside base. It can make tea also from a good sized handful of loose tea.

I have owned the plastic version for years but it finally developed a crack. This has been my go to travel necessity. I just purchased the stainless steel version and all I can say is wow! Makes the same great coffee but keeps it hot almost forever. Just buy it. No regrets.

Love it, have been using it almost daily, I travel a lot to different locations and a cannot stand instant coffee. This is perfect

I use it everyday at work and I use a mix of fresh ground coffee (French press grind setting), ground chaga mushroom, ground roasted chicory and roasted dandelion root. I put in the the grinds into the bottom of the cup, pour in boiling water, give it a stir with a wooden chopstick, put the lid on (not pressing it yet), let it sit for about 5 minutes, then slowly press it down.. makes a great fresh cup of coffee. It keeps it extremely hot so I put a little dairy free silk pumpkin spice creamer in a cup and pour the coffee over it. So good :)) I have tried putting the creamer into the cup through the drinking spout but the coffee stays so hot I prefer to pour it, but definitely can be used that way. One thing to note.. need to tighten the mesh press part as it has a tendency to get a little loose but never an issue. Great purchase.

I recently got into french press coffee and this is a great way to still enjoy a french pressed coffee on the go. I have a separate larger french press for weekends when I get to enjoy my coffee leisurely but this lets me get the same great coffee on my way out the door to work. Keeps the coffee very hot and drinkable for a long time and has been very easy to clean. Had it for a while now and no signs of wear or tear yet as I was concerned it might stain but so far so good! Would def recommend.

Apenas tengo un par de días usando el vaso, el cual llego como siempre 1 día después de comprarlo si usas prime, excelente servicio de entrega. La calidad del vaso es muy buena, mantiene el café caliente por varias horas. El mecanismo de la prensa parece bueno, solo que no tenía café con molido grueso y se escaparon algunos fragmentos de café. La verdad recomiendo muchísimo este vaso para todos que requieran preparar rápida y sencillamente un café o té y requieran de moverse. El tamaño del vaso es perfecto para colocarlo en los porta vasos del carro y repito, su calidad a simple vista es muy buena, es visto muchos otros que por el doble de precio no están ni cerca en materiales y diseño. Ire comentando conforme le vaya dando mas uso.
