Picky Eater approved!
The only food my picky dog would reliably and excitedly eat. He’s been happily served this for over 5 years. My dog would starve himself for days and throwing up bile until the food he likes is served. He came to us as a rescue with him spine, ribcage and hips all sticking out. Yet not food motivated. Before this, I’ve tried high quality kibble, raw, freeze dried, fresh frozen, etc. He just seemed not interested in eating. I was worried. Sister of a friend is a vet and knew the company founder so told me about it. I took him to a JFFD local kitchen for a taste test. Not expecting much because he didn’t usually drink or eat out of the house due to nervousness. The kitchen brought out 3 samples, chicken, beef and pork. To our surprise, he went straight to the beef one and cleaned the plate. Ever since then, we’ve been cooking this for him. The cost isn’t that bad. It’s about $2.5-4/day for my 30 lbs moderately active dog. Including grocery, DIY pack and oils. I have tried cooking it stovetop and in an instant pot. Both fairly easy. I actually tried it myself, tastes great like shepard’s pie without salt. My dog also lost 1/3 of his teeth so this food is easier for him. It’s kept him at a healthy weight even tho this is the fattier recipe they have. We’re generous with servings and occasional double feeding. Been recommending and raving about it to any dogs with allergy, picky eating and weight issues.

Literally a lifesaver for my English Bulldog!
I came across this brand when researching ways and options to cook my dogs food and I can’t say enough how AMAZING this product is! We have 3 fur babies but our English bulldog has a million and one sensitivities and allergies and no matter what the vet wrote and suggested he got no relief. His hair was falling out, he had very red and inflamed skin and now after only two and a half weeks of stopping dog food and cooking all of their meals his skin has begun healing and his hair is growing back! We couldn’t be any more grateful for this brand and the huge impact it’s made in our dogs! Don’t hesitate go ahead and purchase this!!! We also love the turkey and whole wheat macaroni recipe as well!!

My Corgi Loves It
My corgi is not picky, and he’s used to eating “people” food. Since he was a puppy, he’s gotten Kongs stuffed with healthy food & I don’t hesitate to give him healthy leftovers. I KNEW he’d love eating the recipe that came with this product, and he does. We recently purchased this item, so I can’t yet provide feedback on how it is health-wise for my boy. But, I did want to provide some cooking tips. First, I tried the full recipe in a 6 qt slow cooker. BIG mistake! Really need a slow cooker about double that size for the full recipe. (Do they even make one that large?) So, if you’re going to cook in a slow cooker I recommend making half the recipe. I ended up cooking part in the slow cooker & part on top of the stove because of the quantity. Messy & took a long time. Cut the potatoes quite small unless you cook them separately. I cut them in what would be bite-size chunks for my dog, but they didn’t cook well in the slow cooker. Ended up taking the undone potatoes out (kind of painstaking to separate out the hard potatoes) and cooking separately. If you’re making the full recipe, you need one heck of a big pot. Not sure what I’ll do next time - a half recipe won’t last us a full week. I think it’s a misnomer to call this a “kit!” It’s some nutritional powder & instructions for using it. I think of a kit as the parts needed to make something. This isn’t a kit, and it’s an exaggeration to call it that.

Great fresh food supplement
This is a wonderful product that I have been faithfully using gor my dog for a few years. I have always wanted to feed her fresh dog food but I also wanted her to be getting the nutritional support that she needs. The Just Food For Dogs powder has everything she needs. I make the recipe which is provided and I am able to give her fresh nutritional food.

Disgusting smell
this smells like when a dog expresses their anal glands. And you can’t return it. Disgusting. It’s a supplement, not sure why they felt they needed to make it smell so horrible.

the best pet food ever
The dogs love the beef and potatoes meals. I like it as I know what is going into their food. It smells so good when I am cooking it. None of the traditional smell of store bought dog food.I changed some of the cooking procedures.First I bake the scrubbed russet and sweet potatoes in the oven, I cook the hamburger In the Instant Pot for 9 minutes. The resulting broth is saved for times I use beef broth. I found it easier to chop up the cooked veggies . Green beans and carrots are cooked on the stove. It is so much easier to cut the veggies when cooked. I chop up the apple and put in the veggie water. Then I chop up the apple and toss into the veggie water and lightly cook. All the meat, veggies, oils, and the powder are stirred together.
