Worth the money! Game changer for my girl!!
I have always been concerned about my pet's dietary needs. Reputable brands and quality ingredients are very important to me. I've often said they eat better than I do. In March of 2022, my Boston Terrier turned 7 years old. She started having issues with her bowels. She was treated at our vet 4 times within 2 months. She had terrible gas (which is normal for Boston Terriers, but not THIS bad), I had to constantly wipe her bottom after using the bathroom outside, she was putting on weight, her skin was splotchy and she seemed to be lethargic. My vet was concerned it could be stress, but also thought it might be allergies or maybe both. We started changing things to figure out what was wrong by process of elimination. He suggested we start with a diet change, informing me of the limited single source protein foods available on the market. While I was originally looking at going with a salmon diet, something piqued my interest about plant based. That's where I learned about Wild Earth. I was skeptical, but I decided to take a chance and purchase it. This food was life changing! Guppie's diarrhea cleared up, she lost weight and her energy level was back to normal. Even her chest area and belly skin cleared up almost instantly. I am a strict pet mom and do not allow any food outside of her food to be consumed. Mainly because it is so bad for pets to have human food, but also because of her sensitivity to outside foods. Even treats have been switched over to Wild Earth brand because her system freaks out with ANYTHING other than this stuff. When everything seemed to be going wrong with her, there is no way you could have made me believe this food would be the answer. I was skeptic turned believer. I am so happy I found Wild Earth. My mistake was feeding her like my cat, in the sense of high-quality meat. Cats need meat, but dogs do not. This was a new concept for me. It took not only research, but experience for me to believe it. My biggest concern was the food might work, but Guppie wouldn’t approve. Well, Guppie has been on Wild Earth for one full year now and she still looks forward to feeding time each morning and night. I highly recommend this food. It is expensive, but nothing compared to the money I spent at the vet last year. Plus, knowing how much she like the food makes me feel so good. A 17 pound bag lasts her about 4 months. She may still have the gray hair from getting older, but it's at least healthy shiny gray hair. :)

Great, trustworthy food! Clean label! Happy dog! High-protein and cruelty-free!
This food is incredible. The bag is well-designed with all the relevant nutritional information clear and easy to read. This food definitely isn’t hiding behind any ambiguous labels like some other foods. All the ingredients have obvious health benefits! Wild Earth kibble is also cruelty-free, giving me peace of mind knowing I’m not feeding my beloved pup with the suffering of another animal. My dog loves it! After feeding her a few different foods with varying results, Wild Earth has been the only food she will devour without doctoring it with other toppers or flavorings. Meal time is a breeze. My own relationship with her food during feeding time has improved as well. I no longer gag while filling her bowl. The smell is actually pleasant — and to be honest I gave it a try — and the taste isn’t bad either, it tastes wholesome and healthy even if it’s not meant for humans! I highly recommend this food and given the science on dilated cardiomyopathy and food allergens, this food is well-researched and thought out. It’s also less likely to result in allergy and it’s apparent as my dog has been itching much less! Thank you Wild Earth!

I wish I found this food sooner!
I don’t normally write reviews but considering all that we have been through until now to try to find a good quality food for our pup and then finding one that does not cause issues with his allergies, I had to write a review. We adopted our dog at age 5, he’s now 11 years old and has food allergies, pretty much to almost every meat out there, which causes anywhere from throwing up, diarrhea, to blood in his urine and stool. He’s been on sensitive stomach diets, as well as prescription food prescribed by his vet, along with actual prescription medications. He did well early on with the sensitive stomach food but in recent years he started reacting very badly and none of these actions have helped. I decided to research vegetarian diets for dogs - that’s when I found wild earth. I took a chance and just ordered the small bag because we had nothing to lose at this point, I wasn’t able to even transition him from his old prescription food because it’s out of stock everywhere and he didn’t get sick - this is unheard of for him. He’s only been on it for a few days, and he’s already had his first solid stool in I don’t even know how long. For those dealing with the same struggle, you know why I’m so excited about a normal stool – I immediately bought him the big bag! If you’ve gained nothing else from my ridiculously long review, what I’m trying to say is that wild earth seems to be doing it right and it’s been a game changer for our pup, even in such a short amount of time. I hope others find our experience useful!

Say bye to food allergies -
I’ve updated my review as I no longer use this product. While it’s great dog food I’ve had two issues. Shipping frequently delayed and one of my dogs does not like this food at all. I’ve had to mix a raw egg into in order to get her to eat. Needing to stay vegetarian to a avoid explosive diarrhea, there aren’t a lot of options. I purchased natural balance vegetarian when shipping for my order was delayed. Dogs liked the natural balance it but all had loose stool after going through an entire bag. I found that for my dogs Canidae Sustain plant protein is superior to this for my pups. They all prefer that kibble to this stuff and their poops are solid. I’ve removed a star but. My original review below: What do I love most? Not cleaning up explosive diarrhea. We adopted a new pup to the pack. She came with respiratory infection diarrhea and a false pregnancy. Long story short we got everything cleared up except the diarrhea. It was was crap city. We transitioned her back to her original food but it didn’t stop. The people who had her just left her in their yard so they may not have noticed her diarrhea or her diarrhea was why they kept her in the yard. Talked to the vet and they recommended to change her food. I decided to do it on my own this time because bet prescribed food is a little more expensive than this. Her original food was beef., ours was chicken based. Not a lot of choices as my other pup is allergic to salmon based food. After the research, decided on this. The diarrhea stoped after the first feeding. That sold me. My salmon allergy pup also was in the middle of one of his frequent ear infections. It went away faster than they normally do. For those of you that write reviews that “dogs need meat blah blah blah”. WOLVES need meat, dogs do not. Dogs eating habits have been modified for 30,000 YEARS due to being domesticated. We fed them scraps as part of their domestication. Scraps are hardly 100% meat. They’re a mismatch of bones, cooked veggies and anything the humans don’t want but smells great. Now we feed them cereal. The best option would be making you own food or buying something that’s got half the shelf life of kibble. If you elect to feed your dog cereal due to constraints that do not allow the options above, this is an option as it keeps a healthy gut and solid poops,

My dog loves the food, but I hate the price.
I so wish I could give this product 5 stars. My dog is not super food motivated and has digestive issues, so finding a food that he gets excited about but that doesn't cause the unthinkeable is a challenge. This is the first food that has checked both boxes, he loves this kibble and the nutritional content is way better than other vegan dog foods, helping him stay full longer. But the price is completely ridiculous in my opinion. A cup of kibble, if you buy the 4lb bag, is $1.55; $0.84 if you buy the 20lb bag. That's almost twice as much, which is completely ridiculous. I understand the utility of bulk pricing, but that's just too much of a difference. The 4lb bag used to be $23, working out to $1.15 or so per cup, which is significantly more fair. My dog is tiny and only eats about a cup of kibble a day, even so a bag lasts less than a month. Since losing my job thanks to the pandemic, I have not been able to afford to drop $72 bucks in one go. I completely feel like I'm being taken advantage of. Again, I love the quality of this product and I'm glad my dog enjoys it so much, but I can't justify the price and am hoping that either the price decreases back to what it was originally, or I find another brand with comparable results.

Convenient addition to a home-cooked diet, even picky eaters eventually give in
Thank you, Wild Earth, for making such a good product! Please stay in business for many years to come, because your dry food makes my life a whole lot easier. I love to cook for my dogs, but it can be so time-consuming and tough to squeeze into the schedule. Now, I still feed them one home-cooked meal per day, but I also leave out a bowl of Wild Earth, so they can decide how much more they need to eat throughout the day. It has a barely noticeable pleasant smell and tastes kind of like plain crackers. Yes, I actually tasted it myself, which I'm not brave enough to do with "regular" stinky dry food. It's a very clean and convenient food. My dogs like it, which I can't say for most dry foods. It did take some time for them to get into it, but now, one of them prefers it to real meat sometimes. So if your dog refuses it at first, before you give up, try mixing it into their old food in small quantities or adding some chicken broth. It's worth the try. I'll never buy stinky dry food again.

Unjustified price increase
I’m highly surprised and appalled by the price increase once wild earth appeared on Shark Tank. I had ordered once through amazon and most recently ordered directly form the supplier. A bag was originally suppose to be $49 for 18lbs. Our dog has severe EPI and this was the first food we’ve found reasonably priced which she responds well. I went to order another bag today and learned of the “new price” at $70 for an 18lb bag. I’m saddened by the values which were advertised and the “why” behind the company creating the product to learn that with the smallest market boost the company has chosen to use the propaganda as a way to increase your margins. This shows customers the mission statement to change the industry and support our furry friends is not valid. Alas, we will be moving on to find the more affordable food to support our dogs digestive system.

Great Formula... Until the Manufacturer discontinued it.
As a vegetarian, I wanted the same lifestyle for my pet. My Labrador Retriever was on Wild Earth’s original formula (“Complete Protein”) dog food for more than a year before the manufacturer chose to discontinue it. I used to brag to friends that Wild Earth was the best-smelling dog food ever. That all changed when Wild Earth decided to change their formula. Thus began my search for a replacement brand of dog food. For my purposes, I researched, shortlisted, and ordered 4 competing vegan brands. In my opinion, I will be evaluating my dog’s future food from three angles: scent, ingredients, and price. Why scent? You are what you eat, and you can tell a lot about food quality by its scent. (Next time you go to the supermarket, see if you can smell a difference between an organic peach fruit versus a conventional one.) Even if you don’t buy that argument, just imagine what your face would smell like once your pet licks you. In terms of best-smelling, Walk About Pet would be my first choice. Followed by Natural Balance as second pick and V-Dog as third pick. The fourth brand, Halo Holistic, has a waft that smells similar to Wild Earth. Perhaps it’s because they both have chickpeas in their ingredients, whereas the other three brands do not. With that said, I personally found that Halo Holistic smells like a bottle of prenatal vitamins. Perhaps its nutrition or vitamin content is high. Nonetheless, I cannot stand its offensive smell, so I dropped that brand from my shortlist. Looking at the ingredients, I dislike how Natural Balance lists Brown Rice as the first ingredient in its sequence, so I dropped that brand from my shortlist. (Why is sequence important? Because the first ingredient that’s listed represents the largest amount by weight.) On the other hand, I like how Walk About Pets has lentils as the 5th ingredient in its sequence. As a vegetarian, I understand that getting sufficient protein is a challenge, which is why I would rather buy dog food that has high chickpeas and/or lentil content. The numbers seem to match as well, since Walk About Pet advertises high protein (26%) and low fat (8%) levels. Lastly, in terms of commercials, while I found that Walk About Pet is less expensive than V Dog per pound, it’s less available commercially. For example, you cannot buy a bag directly from the manufacturer’s website. Also, as of time of writing, Amazon does not offer a Subscribe & Save option for Walk About Pet. Therefore, I will be choosing Walk About Pet as first choice for my pet. Then supplement V Dog as a backup if necessary. By the way, the V Dog sample that I purchased (in my photos) is mini bite sized. The manufacturer also sells a bigger bag with larger kibble size that has the same nutritional value.
