Is this a high hold product?

My hair is short and pretty light; I use a few very small dabs and it holds well for the day. They do have an Extreme Hold; I believe it's clear. The Blue works the nicest without being too stiff.

Can this sit in a mailbox in sub-freezing weather for a day without exploding?

It doesn't cause dandruff. What I think you are asking is if it flakes. I use it on curly hair so I don't brush it out, I scrunch the crunch. I don't have trouble with flaking as long as I don't use too much. You don't need very much.
