Adds shine and the wall is easy to wipe down now
I brought this after doing so research with out having to repaint the wall in brought this because I made the mistake of getting the matt emulsion paint so when it dried I instantly didnt like the texture of the wall the matt paint made smudge marks from running my finger on a tiny bit. So once I had this I used a small roller as it goes on better. I have navy blue walls and I did end up buying about 3 tins just because of the size of the wall and It had about 4coats of the lacquer on but I. So pleased with it. It's now wipeable and looks shiny and fresh and looks so nice against the white door frame

Good though the Matt finish wasn’t as “clear” as expected
Goes on well though the finish isn’t 100% clear. I used over a satin finish black wood paint and the finish though even, was slightly “cloudy”. Could be that the varnish is a Matt finish and I used over a satin. Other than this it’s a great product, dries quick and not toxic to breath.

Good for animal housing!
I needed a low VOC, pet safe sealant to protect my rabbits' housing and hides. I used it over Cuprinol Garden Shades to add even more weather/waterproof protection, and also to protect it from my rabbits' pee a bit more :P and so far it seems to be working a treat! It applied easily, after giving it a thorough shake and stir, covers well and dries quickly, as stated. 1 tin covered this entire 7ft bunny castle, inside and out, with a tiny amount left over. I used several (3-4) thin coats to gradually build it up. Where I accidentally used a bit too much, it is a bit milky and dried in to a small, hard blob. But as I'm only using it for my pets' housing, this isn't an issue for me and was caused by human error so I can't fault the product! Very pleased and is a similar price to other products of it's type, but was the only safe, water based sealant I could find for my fur babies' housing and furniture!

Appaling stuff.
I share many of the comments and observations from others who have tried this product. Its no better than watered down PVA - often used to seal plaster! I purchased to laquer a over a dark acrylic painted mdf cabinet top, the surface of which took days to sand down to a beautuiful smooth finish using 400 grit. When i applied this stuff, it was nothing like what was described. Other than spraying I have no idea how anyone manges to achieve the finish claimed and described, using a brush or roller applicator. I used various brushes and roller types on a good sized test piece. What a disaster. I'm not sure what was worse, the streaky lines from a brush or the mottled effect from the various rollers I tried. Each attempt dried leaving the application pattern on the surface, not the desired smooth clear plain laquer i was expecting. Based on this experience I would not recommend this product. Others will have a different view - its a shame they havent explained how they managed the perfect finish in their positive reviews.

No lustre
this is a good quality Acrylic varnish but should not be described as a Lacquer I have tried layers of this to create a deep shine using metalics and metal flake and it lacks the finish of a spirit based lacquer a good product but not what it says on the tin!

CONSIGLIO A TUTTI ...

Using a roller, I applied a single coating of Hemway Clear Satin Lacquer to the wooden floor of my room. Without a doubt, it's a vast improvement over the floor, pre-coating. Before I applied the lacquer coating, the floor had a rather poor finish (the appearance and the feel of the floor when walking barefoot seemed pretty dismal) and I was concerned about the wood decaying or getting spoiled by the growth of molds as a result of moisture. After the coating, the floor has a nice glossy finish and feels quite pleasant when walking barefoot on it. I also don't have to worry about decay and mold growth due to the protective layer. What's more, it's pretty economical-it took me approximately little over a half of the lacquer available in a single can to cover the entire floor which has an area between 35-40 square meters.
