I have a wrap around porch with two large openings. I also have geese that decided the porch was the ideal place to sleep at night and so it was a daily fight to keep the poop off the porch. These are going to work perfectly. I wanted something affordable, something big enough to fit the openings and something that will keep the birds out. These check all the boxes. I got 2 gates for the price of most gates in this side range. Putting them together went pretty fast, it took around an hour to get all my supplies and build the two gates. (The second one took around 15 minutes so if you're handier and more organized than I am, then it shouldn't take you that long) My only real issue was one of them was missing a piece where you join the two sections. It was the smooth piece that you screw another screw into it. I imagine I can find one at home depot, but for the time being I just put a deck screw in it and that fixed it just fine. As for sturdiness, that's kind of up to you and what you're trying to keep out/in. I raised mine a few inches off the floor so that it's even with the rest of the porch railing. That means it's basically free floating on the 4 eye screws. It's going to be fine for the geese, but my goats and great dane puppy are going get past it pretty quickly. (They shouldn't be in that part of the yard so it's on me if they end up breaking it.) I love that it's easy to remove, and that it can swing all the out or just slide it enough for you to get by. Definitely worth the money if you're looking for a visual block rather than a strong block.

I purchased this gate to block off the stairs to my sunken dining room. I had a difficult time finding a reasonably priced gate for the large entry way (about 96 inches). I wasn't sure this gate would work after reading some of the reviews, but I'm glad I took the chance because it works perfectly for me. However, I can see how it may not work for everyone. I simply needed a barrier to deter my 10 lb Dachshund from going down the stairs. I was concerned that the slats might be too wide as another reviewer had stated, but they are not. Well, not for the dog anyway. I do have a small cat who was able to get her head through, but she figured out that she couldn't get all the way through and she hasn't tried that again. The gate is easy to install. The box was open when it arrived, but no missing parts. You can open the gate from either side by releasing the latch from the eye hook and either swinging the gate in or out or by simply sliding it. Honestly, though, the latch is a pain in the ass. The lever is hard to push open and then you have to lift the hinge from the top and bottom eye hook, then realign then back in place to close it again. So, I just keep it unlocked and prop the hinges against the eye hooks. This works perfectly for me since my pets don't touch the gate. For a child however, I think this gate would be too flimsy.

We recently acquired a new puppy and I was looking for something that would allow me to keep the puppy off our living room carpet. the opening between the tile floor in the dining area and the living room is about 7 feet. other options for this distance were close to $200 and I knew once housebroke this would just be a temporary solution. this gate works perfectly for this. unlike some other reviews I didn't see any issues with the quality of the construction of the gate itself. I also like how it can easily be removed when not in use. Installation only took about 15 minutes. My biggest issue with this gate is the latch system. while the top part of the latch secures firmly it is rather difficult for my wife to use due to physical weakness of her hands because of a stroke. but the rest of the family has no problems. the connection to the wall is simply made by using four eye lag screws. the bottom latch is a flat piece of metal with about a half inch notch. so you are literally trying to put a square peg into a round hole. I have to bend over and place this firmly into the circle by hand before latching the top. if this is not firmly secured the puppy has found that she can just push on the bottom of the gate and she can go right underneath the gate. a longer round hook would work much better. I may look at making that modification if I continue to use after housebreaking. Because of this latching system I would not recommend for use with a toddler especially for use near stairs. at only about 26 inches tall it would not restrict a large pet. the cats jump over with no problems and the puppy is now big enough that she could probably jump over too but hasn't discovered how to do that yet.

I have a 95” opening from living room into dining room that connects to kitchen. I wanted to keep the baby out of kitchen so this works for that large opening and it’s under $50. It’s tall enough to keep baby out but short enough I can still step over it if I don’t feel like unhooking it. I put up extra wood pieces on sides to hopefully cause less damage to drywall if babe starts jerking on gate. Easy to put together. Only issue I had on assembly was one of the four pre drilled holes where the two gate pieces connect together was slightly off alignment. If I got the screw through top right hole than I couldn’t get other one through top left, if I got screw through top left holes than I couldn’t get other screw through top right. I ended up securing the screw in top left hole and using my drill bit to drill out the right hole a little more to get the screw to fit through right hole as well. The holes on bottom lined up perfectly it was just one wonky top one but if that was my only issue with this under $50 gate I am happy 😆

Out of the package, this gate was exactly what we wanted. I almost left a great review. But I'm glad I waited because after only two weeks, it has broken from wind. We initially got it to contain our small dachshund on the deck. I was thrilled to find something that stretched to the width we needed it, which was almost 7 feet. It was easy to install and we didn't have a problem with any of the parts it came with. As other reviews have said, it definitely feels flimsy. I wouldn't advise it for toddlers or animals who would be pushing/jumping up against it. But for use as a visible barrier, it does the trick. The press-down latch to slide the gate open is somewhat stiff and kinda hard to use, but it works with some fussing. I almost purchased another one... but then it broke after normal April weather. Built-in wooden pegs that attach the gate to its stationary post, which is attached to the deck, just broke right off. (See my photos in the shared Customer Images above.) Yes, it rained pretty heavily and the wind has been strong. But if it can't withstand wind, that gives you an indication of just how weak it really is. Perhaps it's intended for indoor use only, I don't know. But, because I paid $44 for it and it otherwise suits my needs, I'm just gonna try to nail it back together. But I don't have much faith in how long it will actually last. [Update: I was able to nail it together. It has held up fine so far.] [Update #2: Broke again in the same spot. I think the wood is just too soft, especially in damp outdoor weather. May be best for indoor use only. This has all been in two months' time.]

I had very low expectations based on read reviews. Yes, it is just exposed wood, but it’s sanded smooth like IKEA furniture. It fits and works perfect for our space. Keeps kids and pets safe while also allowing us to use the entire walkway for our double stroller to fit. ITS PERFECT!!! Great price. Sturdy solid piece. Clean look. Easy to assemble. Over all I’m very happy with it!

This is an extra long baby gate. I have a 60lb pit mix that I want to keep confined in the kitchen when I'm at work. I looked around to find another gate this long without luck - I was skeptical of this gate due to the low price. This gate works perfect for me. My dog respects the gate even though she could easily jump over it or run right through it. Pros: 1) super long, 2) affordable, 3) easy to install, 4) low enough to step over but tall enough to create a barrier (i'm 5' 2") 5) neutral color. Cons: 1) not very sturdy, 2) hassle to lock and unlock the gate, 3) wood looks unfinished Overall, I'm very happy with this well priced, extra-long gate.

This gate should be easy to assemble with 4 holes to attach the two pieces of gate together before mounting to the wall. The screws go in both sides of the gate and screw into one another as opposed to screwing into the actual wood in the gate itself. My gate however, the holes to not line up correctly. I spent 3 hours with 2 other people trying to get the holes to match up just so I could insert all 4 screws and I still wasn’t able to do it. When looking inside the holes in the wood that the manufacturer makes, you can see they do not match up and are slightly off on both gates. Its been extremely frustrating trying to set up this gate that essentially should be very easy. I know they all aren’t like that and I feel like the one I got is just bad luck and defective or something went wrong while they were putting these holes in. I’m going to return it and I don’t know if I even want to chance getting another one from all the headache it’s caused me. I wish it worked because I like the gate itself but with a new baby on the move I need something reliable that I can assemble quickly to do the job. I never attempted to mount it to the wall so I can’t comment on how hard that is, but I can say that the actual assembly of the two pieces of gate is terrible and caused more headache than I needed right now. Would not reccomend for parents who are trying to baby proof their house quickly…I’d go with another gate because it shouldn’t be this hard with only 2 pieces of gate and 4 screws (8 screw total, 2 used on each hole and 4 holes total)….

Very flimsy. Lock gets stuck after a while. Not worth the price at all.
